I guess now the study articles are top secret "for your eyes only" material. What always got me was how they made a point of saying that certain releases were for baptized publishers only. For example that goofy WT library CD they put out, they always made it clear that it was not to be given out to non-witnesses or copied. I thought "who cares?" If the material is so great, you'd think they'd want everyone in the world to have a copy.

The CO asked for more contributions

few weeks ago we had the co visit and he told us in the ms and elders meeting that he had never seen a letter from the gb like this one, but then he went ahead and read it.
the letter basically said: "the contributions are down and there is more people in the congregation.

.. when witnesses (esp.
pioneers) have all the little wt extras, such as the wt year agenda, the wt removable book covers, bible with their name printed on the leather cover, the rv book with the little tower logo on it, "pens from patterson" etc.

Apparently I was a real rebel. One time at a book study I read a scripture from a bible other than the NWT because I felt the wording was more clear. I really caught hell for that one.

LOL, I had none of that stuff. For a long time I didn't even own a book bag. At first I used to go out in service with just a Bible, I figured that was all I needed. I thought I was cool being able to reason from the scriptures only. But I was quickly reprimanded by the self-righteous elders--that I needed to have a book-bag and carry around all the WT crap, the mags and books and such. After that I always felt like a cheap salesman trying to place the literature.

Dropped from my Bible Study like a hot potato

i was also attending meetings, but never went out in field service.
during a recent study, i told the conductor that i didn't believe in the 'annointed' & didn't believe the fds had a 'hotline' to jehovah.

New poster here, occasional lurker, thought I’d jump in on this one. I knew so many not sure where to start. Knew of one “brother” who was some sort of financial adviser. Other brothers and sisters turned over their money to him to invest. He kept the money and supposedly paid them dividends each quarter but it was just out of their own money. Eventually it all ran out, and so did he. One older sister lost her entire life savings. I personally knew a brother during the computer boom of the early 90s who set up networks for businesses. He would bid the job for 40 hours of work, when he knew it would only take him around 10 and he would pioneer the rest of the week. Eventually no one trusted him anymore because of bad word of mouth, and he couldn’t find anymore work. He applied to Bethel and they accepted him. Go figure. Even the elders in the congregation referred to him as “the weasel.” I could go on with many more, slumlords, rip-off roofing and janitorial companies, etc. It always chagrined me to find so many sleazy people in “the truth.” Even today I would be leery of any business run by a witness. Some are honest, but many are not.
