God bless you for seeing the light. I wish my husband could see what he is putting me through. At one time he was a elder, but removed because he left us. I went to the kh for 10 years, walked out and never went back, because they let him pray after the book study. He wasn't even supporting the family, I had to go on welfare. I live a very lonely life and will be leaving him early in 2009. You may have to go through some lonley time, but stay strong. Being on this sight has helped me so much. Everyone has a kind heart and we have all been put through one thing or another. Stay strong and keep us posted.

Possessing The Qualifications For Eldership Doesn't Mean...
by White Dove in...one is appointed by holy spirit.
why does the wts think it does?
isn't that equivocation?.

my husband was removed as an elder in 1985, because he left us. Did the holy spirit make a mistake?????? of did Jehovah make a mistake????? They are all a little bit crazy..

Just wondering if those guys live at Bethel or do they have some fancy hide away mansion? Are any of them married? Also would like to know if anyone out there has any pictures of the pyramids that some say are on the top of the watchtower building. This discussion board is so interesting and I have found out so much stuff. Thank everyone and keep up the good work. You guys really know what you are talking about. You keep me going and it really helps to know people feel the same way I do.
Did any of you see Serena Williams on her remarks about JW's and voting? It was on my MSN site today. She should keep her mouth shut, just take the money you WIN and keep all the awards and trophies. Bet the elders will be talking to her. Wonder what hall she attends?

My first convention
by kurtbethel ini went to the district convention in san diego.
i got to see first hand the good, the bad, and the ugly of what transpires at a convention.
the worst fears of what i was warned about never materialized.

Thanks for showing the great pictures. The one with the guy holding the keep moving sign makes me sick. For any women out there when you use the restroom did they have the mirrors covered with paper, so you can't check out how you look. They want to keep you moving. I did not see any signs that said "if it's on the floor pick it up". Back in the day I saw this sign. Today if I went and they told me to be quite or keeping moving. My reply would be BITE ME!

No Emotion at Funerals
by DiscoSandy ini was a chaperone for my daughter's out-of-town volleyball tournament last weekend - got to meet another mom that had grown up in the same area i grew up in.
she proceeded to ask about my childhood, etc.

The last witness funeral I attended, we left the funeral parlor and then the funeral proceded to the kH, but they never brought the casket inside the hall, he stayed outside while the talk was given. His wife was not a witness, she reallly went through the crap.

Elder calling around
by Am ha·a'ret ini'm a new member as i've not completely left the org yet and being a "good lil jw" would never have looked at a site like this previously!
there is one elder in the cong who calls around every so often to "chat" as i only stopped attending meeting a couple of months ago.
i've spoken to him about certain subjects - eg the un thing and the misuse of quotes - but he has no useful answers for me.

If he can't answer your questions send him on his way. Don't give them a chance to ask you any questions at all. You are the one with the questions. It took them 21 years to call me on the phone to see how I was doing and they see my husband 5 times a week. I won't give them a chance to come to my home. I have a new life that I love and would not trade it for anything in the world. Nothing could ever make me go back to that HELL my husband created for me and my children. I just walked away. I am not disfellowshipped , or disassociated they should have done it to my husband. Anyway who came up with this language anyway. Ask them about the Pyramid at Russell's grave or Beth Sarim see what they say. Russell believed in pyramids and Ritherford built Beth Sarim for the prophets, who were to return. He wanted them to be in a nice place. How many witness are poor and just making it because they cannot further their education?? sounds like a double standard.
Hope all goes well, sorry to sound off, but when you have all of these feeling inside it is good to vent. You can use me to vent if you'd like. Welcome.

Elders supposed contact DF&DA once every year???!!!???
by Quotes ini was speaking to my mom on the phone yesterday, and despite my trying to avoid it, we got to talking about wacky jw topics -- again.
actually, it was nearly unavoidable, since she had just returned from her summer convention.
aside: nice way to celebrate your wedding anniversary, mom & dad; at an assembly!

I walked out of the hall 21 years ago and I just received a call from them a few months ago. They wanted to come to my house I said NO. So they called again on the phone and asked how I was doing, and what I was doing. Holidays with my children and grandchildren. I told them if they wanted they could disassociate me, and they said NO. I was not the cause for leaving, it was my fanatic husband who was a elder at the time. No longer serving as elder it's a long story. He still attends, but will never be in any position because he left us. I told them I would never go back to that Hell he created for me and my children. Sometimes I think that when the CO visits he must go through files and maybe they are told to clean them up.

Married 42 yrs and ready to leave. My husband is a jw and has been for 38 yrs. I even joined from 1974 to 1985 to keep my family together. When my daughter no longer wanted to attend trouble started. She had no friends at the hall and was told the only friend she needed was Jehovah and Jesus. I would sneek her out to go to dances at school and to be with her friends. When hubby found out he was angry with her wouldn't talk to her and finally he just packed up and left. He took all money out of my name and I had to go on welfare. He was a ELDER in the congregation, but was soon removed by the circuit overseer. I still attended meetings with my son. We were studying the Family book and at the study he answered a question stating "If your wife has wants she better want less" I wanted to die at the end of the meeting they let him pray, during the prayer I grabbed my son and walked out never to return. I did file for seperation, because you know Jehovah hates divorce. Then this man filed for custody of the kids, so I dropped the case due to lack of money.
After 9 months he did return and I guess I fogave him, but never returned to the hall. I got myself a job as a operations manager of a chemical co. and worked for 20 yrs. Both of my children are married and are very happy. I have 2 grandchildren. None attend meeting.
My husband has retired now and all of his time is spent attending meeting and being a slave for any job that needs to be done. We do nothing together. I get a one week vacation of his choice and out on our anniversary. A few months ago the elders called and wanted to know how I was doing. 21 years after the fact. I told them I would never go back to the hell my husband created for me and my children. I am not disfellowshipped, but I told them if they wanted to disassociate me go ahead. They said they couldn't because I was not at fault. That is the only truth I have ever heard. I realize that there is nothing in the Bible that says I give up my life for him to have everlasting life. I cook clean wash and yes iron all those shirt for the meetings. I need my own life. I have to wait until Feb to leave because I will get my Social Security. I have no idea what is in the bank because I have to be content with sustenance and covering. It took him 18 yrs to put my name on the savings, but don't know what is in there. I keep a file on all he has done. He knows I want to leave but says I will be his wife to time indefinite. Sick man. I told him Jehovah is going to destroy me, and I want my husband to be able to watch.
What a wasted life I have had. If there is anyone out there that is not a witness, don't get involved in any relationships with jw's it will ruin you life. If anyone has any imput for me, I need all the help I can get.

Get out now. I have been married to a jw for 42 years. I even joined from 1974 to 1985. He left us and was removed as a elder. 2 children no money and no job. Everything was taken out of my name and I had to go on public assistance. The brother didn't know what to do I went to meetings until they let him pray after the book study. I grabbed my son and walked out while he prayed and never looked back.
After about 9 months he came back and by the way we almost lost our home because he did not pay the note, even though I sent all the bills to the Kingdom Hall. Both of my children are now married to people outside the hall and are very happy and successful. Two beautiful grandchildren. That was 21 years ago, now the elders call me to ask how I am doing. Get out of my life brothers. My husband has now retired and spends all his time at he hall. He is the first to volunteer for everything. I finally realized that there is nothing in the bible that says I give up my life for him to have everlasting life. I do everything in my home cook, clean, wash and yes iron his shirts for the meetings. Believe it or not last sunday when he came from the meeting I had to untie his shoes because he said he could'nt bend down. This is it. We do nothing together. Everywhere I go I'm alone and when he goes he is alone. What a waste of life!!!!
Finally after 42 years I want out. I'm always alone so I want to live alone. I don't even know what we have in the bank as I am not allowed.. I must be content with sustenance and covering. I will be receiving Social Security in February and then I am going to get out on my own.
Honey, don't waste your life get a life.
