Actually I don’t care about anyone’s sexual orientation. So long as they don’t pinch me on the arse when I’m trying to chat up a honey. My point is that if they accept how I am I can accept how they are. I’ve had some pretty wild times at gay bars and gay parties without being compromised (that I know of)

Question for gay people
by expatbrit inthe question is about the term "tolerance" or "tolerating".. when someone says something along the lines of "i'm very tolerant of gay people" or "gay people should be tolerated", how do you feel?.
the reason i ask is this: doesn't the concept of tolerating something imply a background negative?
for instance, i can say "i tolerate my brother-in-law".

Isn't the tie a phallic symbol
by hippikon ini seem to remember reading somewhere that the tie is a phallic symbol.
can anybody shed any light on that.
if this is so it should go the way of beards, birthdays, the cross, rock music, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Or perhaps I should get a bigger tie

Meetings
by OrangeBlossom indo you think the wts will ever reduce the number of meetings per week, maybe drop one night a week?
just curious!
it seems that everyone is so whipped from working all day, i really think that's why there is such a drop in meeting attendance.

The Sydney BBQ report
by OlderTom inwell folks i just came from the sydney bbq.
it was good to meet some of the faces behind the names of the posters here... it was funny every time another car rolled up one of us jumped up to show the security keys, i felt like a bit of a goose but it worked.
no uninvited elders showed up.. there was heaps of food and the chocolate mud cake was delicious.

Life After Armageddon
by CoolBreeze inthis was one of many aspects of my studies that gave me real problem.
i figured out that there was no way i was going to be in any %0.01 survivor group.
and if i was; all those rules and restrictions wouldn't really make it a paradise on earth for me.

Restrictions
by ozziepost inthere is a practice among jws of applying restrictions to individual members.
it forms part of the judicial process and, although having no scriptural basis, is applied automatically to erring ones who are judged to be repentant.. so, for a period of time, usually up to 12 months, the individual is not allowed to share in commenting at meetings, offering public prayer, appearing on the platform in congregation meetings, or in serving as an auxiliary pioneer.. as with any man-made law, difficulties arise from this practice.
although no announcement has been made to the congregation, individual congregation members can have their curiosity aroused.. for example, take the real-life situation where a sole parent has been placed on restrictions by a judicial committee.

My restrictions were anounced from the platform. Everything that they could restrict was restricted - publicly. But hey Who Cares. Dont gives at rats arse about saying the closing prayer. "Thank you Santa for all the Bull$hit we have just digested". And as for answering they wouldnt like my answers much!

Kingdom Hall thinning out?
by OrangeBlossom ini was thinking about the post about japan closing about 300 congregations in the past 3 years.
i know that the hall i occasionally go to is usually less than half full compared to a few years ago.
my mom says that the elders in her hall are trying to come up with ways to get more to attend as attendance is really bad.

The "Final solution" Watchtower style.
by Norm inthe final solution watchtower style.. we have been told on this board lately that the watchtower society preach the good news and that is one of the good things that set them apart from christendom.
people who call the watchtower society message good news has hopefully never really given much thought to what is going to happen if their good news should become reality.
let us investigate what these good news is all about.. the 22. may, 1999 issue of awake!

Sounds like Vlad the Impaler was a man of great insight and his prophesies came true. Maybe it was a minor fulfilment or perhaps prefigured the great evening meal.
