I think this dunking thing is most unhygenic I was in a long line and by the time it was my turn the water in the little tub was brown and smelt. I got the flu of course and was sick for two weeks after.
i thought the name of this thread was so on time for this thread demostrates one of the sad things about claiming to speak for god, when one actually does not.. when i was a newly appointed elder at the tender age of 27 .
i was introduced to the world of the judical committee.. it was in fact my first case.
i had gotten a call from the po before the meeting stating that their would be an elders meetings to discuss some judical matters.
I understand the spying thing. I went into hidding a while ago and wouldnt talk to the elders. They asked all the pioneers to look out for me and tell them where I was living. I was the invisble man for a while

i don't know how far back i was thinking about this, but it came to mind once again as i spoke to my father, who was addicted to marijuana for 27 years.
it took everything away from him, including his family (myself, my sister, and my mother).
he says a higher power must have helped him through these times and caused him to stop (4 years clean this december; wahoo!

Psycho Cybernetics – psyching yourself up is widely accepted in sports. You probably know the stuff. Think winner and you will be one.
I used to believe in a higher power, but one day I decided to stop praying. I found that my life went just as well as before. I realized that I was just talking to myself through all those years of praying - mentally psyching myself up for success. My main experiment was my first public talk - I didn't even pray right before my talk like I had for so many talks before. As it turned out, it was one of my best talks ever - no need for a higher power there.
My personal understanding is as rem suggested. Prayer is just psyching yourself up. I think the Placebo Effect, Psycho Cybernetics, Reticular Activation System, Self Hypnoses or whatever you want to call it are all very closely related if not the same thing. And that his how we get sucked into mind control cults. We initially want it to be true because it sounds so nice. so we start psyching ourselves into believing it. We start blocking out what we don’t want to hear.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to accept something as fact just because we want it to be fact.

How would you feel if someone borrowed some money from you then asked you if they could keep it.
In Australia (Sydney) when they built the assembly hall they asked for loans from the bros. Later a leter was sent out to all those who lent money to the effect of "You havent needed this money over the last two years so can we keep it."
I must say I was quite stumbled at the time but as I didn't have any money didn't take much notice. I wish now I had spoken out! It must have put presure on people who wanted to do the right thing.
