Instead of a cult leader, you're now only a member.
Sounds like a positive development.
they are doing that article about sister selma getting the crap beat out of her to win her husband over to being a jw.
any suggestions as to the comment i should make?
i was thinking about bringing up the old awake on domestic violence and ask if there has been new light and that women should stay with their abusers..
They can print anything the want to print, and 99% will accept it as Gospel. The Bible is filled with far worse.
Members are captive to the concept that WT is God's Organization. Even if the Faithful and Discreet Slave prints something they don't agree with, the must go along with it. (a) Where else could they go? (b) Jesus own disciples weren't perfect and made mistakes.
Facts are rendered helpless when confronted with the power of belief.
a recent article in the nj jewish standard.
the boy was 17 years old and he urgently needed an operation.. as a jehovahs witness, however, he would rather die than receive a blood transfusion, believing it to be a transgression of the biblical prohibition against eating blood.
his parents, also pious members of the religious group, agreed with him.. the doctors of the ucla medical center, however, would not agree to perform a blood-free operation.
A recent article in the NJ Jewish Standard. . .
The boy was 17 years old and he urgently needed an operation.
As a Jehovah’s Witness, however, he would rather die than receive a blood transfusion, believing it to be a transgression of the biblical prohibition against eating blood. His parents, also pious members of the religious group, agreed with him.
The doctors of the UCLA Medical Center, however, would not agree to perform a blood-free operation. They were not willing to risk losing a patient’s life because of his religious beliefs.
As a member of the medical center’s ethics committee, Rabbi Elliot Dorff was among those consulted.
Dorff, Conservative Judaism’s leading expert on medical ethics and chairman of the Rabbinical Assembly’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards (CJLS), says that under halachah, or Jewish law, the case would be open-and-shut.
First, halachah does not consider a blood transfusion to be at all akin to the forbidden act of eating blood. Secondly, even eating blood would be permitted under Jewish law to save a life.
American law, however, presented the UCLA Medical Center with a more complicated picture. An adult has the legal right to refuse medical treatment. The patient, however, was a minor. And parents do not have the right to refuse medical treatment on behalf of their children.
This case was resolved by sending the patient to a hospital, affiliated with Jehovah’s Witnesses, that was able to offer a blood-free operation — and would be willing to let the patient die if necessary.

it's beginning to annoy me when people send me text messages and e-mails of this sort.
it's even more annoying when it comes from people who i primarily associated with while i was still active, but who i haven't heard a word from since i quit going to meetings a couple months ago.
most of these people live less than five minutes from me and would be welcome at my house anytime.
It is truly conditional.
has everyone heard of him, robert king?.
i occasionally have a look on his site, at times when im not sure what i believe.
i'm sliding towards atheism but i'm not completely sure either way.. the more reading i do of things of a scientific nature, the more i edge towards no god, but i like to analyse both sides of an idea.. anyway, whenever i read anything on kings website, it just seems he is a bit of doomsday cultist himself, i mean he has all these links to conspiracy sites, and all manner of negative scary articles about nuclear war and famine etc.
Doesn't he still believe that WT is the only true religion?
the question i have is, should i even bother?
i am not even sure why he wants to watch this particular video.
ive already seen it with my wife a few days ago and already seen how they leave a lot of details out concerning their teachings of old.
More than likely he is pioneering this month. This will be an easy way to 'get his time in' for the month.
i just want to be a true christian..i love god and jesus christ....all i simply want is to be a follower of christ...a genuine one...i don't want to read matthew 23 and know that it aptly fits my situation...i want to feel refreshed under the love of my father...i don't want to fake anymore...i shouldn't even have felt the need to anyway.... i don't know what to do....i'm tired and all i want to do is serve the almighty god...i don't want to have doubts because that alone makes me know that this isn't what god wants...i just want to truthfully be a follower of jesus...a true one.
gosh....i feel as though my life has no direction...all i want to do is follow christ the right way.... i'm sorry for rambling on....
cyberjesus gave some wonderful advice. The only urgency surrounding this is whatever urgency you assign to it. Think about this: People have been joining and leaving this religion for more than one hundred years. It's not a race. 'Jesus' allowed you to become a JW. Had he wanted you to never join or leave sooner, he could have arranged that.
there is no hurry
saw this article on line in yesterday's daily mail.
it's a bit of a worry to say the least.. .

Double-Dip Recession
Britain's economy slid into its second recession since the financial crisis after official data unexpectedly showed a fall in output in the first three months of 2012, piling pressure on Prime Minister David Cameron's embattled coalition government.
