New James Bond Film: Skyfall
by leavingwt ini had an opportunity to see skyfall in the theater yesterday.
it's almost as good as casino royale, with some parts of it being even better.
the opening sequence was a real thrill, one of the best.

I'm over Craig. This is Bond, not Bourne.
Bring on Idris Elba, or someone else with the Connery animal magnetism.
Just sayin' (flame away).

Bardem is quickly becoming one of the top 10 actors working today, IMHO. He disappears into his characters. His hair, his scary hair!

The opening sequence was a real thrill, one of the best. Javier Bardem does a masterful job at playing the bad guy. The cinematography (Deakins) is pretty amazing, especially in two sequences that take place in China.
Sam Mendes directs this one, and he gives long-time Bond fans several juicy nuggets that they will appreciate. The overall tone of the film is less gimmicky than many previous Bond films, without being too dark.
I wouldn't mind seeing it again, and I would give it an 8 or an 8.5 out of 10, on the Bond scale.
What did you guys think about it?

Ethos (and all still mentally in): Truth, Tipping Points and Standards
by NeverKnew inif this is "the truth," why has the information provided over the years contained so many errors?
at what point does "error" become "outright lie" for you?
how high (or low) are your standards for your spiritual leaders?

When an article appears in the WT magazine, it becomes 'The Truth'.
It doesn't matter what the Bible says, and it doesn't matter what the previous understanding was.
Where would Ethos go, if he disagreed with the WT?

The WT could begin teaching The Trinity without suffering a huge loss in membership.
Doctine is irrelevent. It's about control and authority.

"They are MAD you know"
by Phizzy ini was reading a bigraphical book where the guy writing visits salt lake city, he knew nothing about the lds/mormon church.
he described the people waliking about like "something out of the stepford wives" he found it a bit weird from the get go.. he then did a bit of research and does a really good summation of exactly how looney the beliefs are, one bit i liked was that in his view there was a line of people going back to j.c that was 2000 years long, back to joseph smith, 150. as he said, which sounds the more plausible?.
what got to me though was a friend of his came to work with him, and had to take taxi to get to the place and was stuck in the taxi for five hours with a mormon driver, upon joining the author he said "they are f***ing mad you know, mormons".. my question is, as i have not spoken to any normal person about jw's who does not know i was once one, do the folks in the normal world who know a bit about jw's see them as effin mad ?.

"do the folks in the normal world who know a bit about JW's see them as Effin Mad ?"
Yes.
However, many would also simply describe the JWs as odd.
