My Travel Web Site is On Line.....Yippeeeee
by Robdar ini'm pretty excited because the premier of my travel magazine is now on line.
i still have a few things to add to it such as the panoramic photos.
other than that, everything is up and running.. i welcome any suggestions that you have but please be gentle as this is my first time.

There's something missing from the site... Can't put my finger on it...
Oh yeah, Travel Correspondents! All travel magazines pay people to go to exotic locales. They cover all their expenses and treat them like they're not pompous windbags who have no real qualifications!
I'll take Hawaii, Australia, or Spain.
Nice site, Robdar.

NEW JW POLICY POSTED!!!
by amac ini don't know if anyone has posted on this already but there is a new press release at http://www.jw-media.org/releases/default.htm?content=bg_molestation.htm that defines the current jw policy and i believe it has taken a step in the right direction!.
although they have not literally changed it to require reporting to the authorities in all states, they have finally put into print the following: "additionally, the victim may wish to report the matter to the authorities, and it is his or her absolute right to do so.".
i am glad to see, straight from the wt, acknowledgement that the adults involved have every right to go to the police.

Hmmm
Another point is that their favorite term they used to use back in the 70s was "community responsibility".
Excellent point, Pat
I remember this being applied to us (so we'd feel guilty and go sell more magazines) even though we were no part of the world! How much REAL responsibility do the leaders of the WT bear for the way their elders apply their policies.

ms anderson
by Realist inquestion: if women don't work in the archive of the wt how did she find out about these eltter?
and how many cases were discovered?.
i would like to know what to answer if a witness asks that questions.
-
Hmmm
Realist,
This was a surprise to me when I heard it, too. Silly old me, I thought that women didn't hold positions of responsibility. Well, maybe not publically... Imagine my chagrine to learn that this (gasp) WOMAN actually wrote articles for the magazines!
Once Simon The Bandwidth Miser turns the search features back on, look for posts by AlanF and JT (I believe). They'll provide names of big shots at Bethel who can verify her position, and tell you that there were other women at Toronto Bethel with similar responsibilities.
Farkel, what a good idea...
Ms Anderson, can you share how many cases you did discover? I've seen figures like 27,720 or so, but I thought that Bill was projecting numbers based on an assumption of an average of X molesters per cong. I didn't know he had a Bethel Heavy on his side
Obviously, I'm not asking you to divulge anything confidential, or that would harm further work. Feel free to say "None of your dang business!"

USFlagChucking JW Appears On Today's PEOPLES COURT
by AngryXJW injust finished watching a people's court case which involved a female jw landlord, who was suing a former tenant (also female) for breaching an apartment lease by moving out prior to the exiration of the lease, damage to the apt, etc.
the jw won the case.. the ex-tenant attempted to defend the breach by relating that the jw landlord must have been repeatedly illegally entering her apartment when the tenant wasn't home, since she had been told by other tenants that the landlord had made comments (gossiped) about the tenant's furniture, lifestyle, etc..
biggie!!!

What I find most disturbing about this whole case is that people still watch The People's Court

amac,
The reason people seem so skeptical is because this type of language is very similar to the vague statements they make about the 'new' blood policy. Sorry, but they have a track record of being very deceitful, and having a practical application that is vastly different from their stated policy. I was only a MS, and I went to elder/ms meetings where the CO gave oral instructions that were almost the opposite of "official" instructions.
IF they were sincere in this. IF they didn't secretly say "they can go to the authorities, but we'll accept that as their wish to be DAd for causing divisions" then I'd wholeheartedly agree that it's a step in the right direction.
You're not having to argue that this documented policy is a good thing, but the WTS horrendous track record with playing fast and loose with the truth will leave you arguing that they're sincere.
Assuming for a second that this is completely on the up-and-up, it's a good thing. If so, I think the years to come will lead to an incredible increase in reporting of abuse. I'll be interested to see if they don't later tighten things up because they have far more reports than they anticipated.

Non..non, Mon Dieu.. Sacre Bleu.....AAAAAgh..
by Englishman inlittle senegal, a tiny nation without supposedly a cat in hells chance of beating world cup holders france, did just that today.. this from sky:.
the 2002 world cup has kicked off with one of the most amazing results in the competition's history - a 1-0 win for african outsiders senegal over holders france.
pape bouba diop scored the only goal of the opening game to leave the world cup debutants in dreamland.. .

How long did it take France to surrender?
