  Ever had some Witness storm out or turn off a Movie you were watching! Which one?

  i was watching steve martin "leap of faith" pg rated mind you with some witnesses.

  he plays a fake faith healer.

  their were a couple swear words, and the brothers asked me to switch it off.. same thing happened with christine applegate movie {pg 13} "don't tell mom the babysiters dead.

  There was an elder at our hall that wouldn't allow his young daughter to watch "Aladdin" or "Beauty and the Beast". due to the spiritistic content! And when he came over my parents house and "Aladdin" was in the VCR, he commented on it saying I shouldn't let my son watch it, his daughter NEVER watched stuff like that. I said it was a kids cartoon movie. WTF!!! Crazy religion. I felt so sorry for his daughter. She turned into an adult with a tortured soul.

  I bought a Smurf-help me name him! LOL

  while i was at the store last night, i bought a stuffed smurf.

  my husband says i should name it elder smurf.

  i thought pioneer smurf was good, too.

  Thanks for the suggestions. I may just get a whole collection of them now-name each one. I love the GB Smurf idea! How about Single Sister Pioneer Smurf, Smug Elder's wife Smurf, Never gonna get remarried Smurf--- the names could be endless.

  For me the very best thing is that I no longer have to deal with the tremendous guilt that I had-guilt for not doing enough spiritually. I really, truly feel 'FREE'. Thank you JWN and all of it's members for helping me with this! I will be eternally grateful.

  next week is my 30th.

  i have never celebrated my birthday due to being brought up in the cult.. this year i intend to change all that!

  but as a novice in the birthday department i wonder if anyone could tell me.... what makes the best birthday ever?.

  "Inside a Cult" on NatGeo

  i watched a couple of episodes of "inside" on natgeo last night.

  these two episodes were, "inside a cult" and followed the cult led by wayne bent (who calls himself michael travesser) who claims he is divinity and humanity in one and that he is the messiah.. the guy's a true whack job.

  he prophesied the end of the world on october 31, 2007. guess what...it didn't happen, yet the majority of his followers remained.. bent went to jail for improper sexual contact with an underage girl who was in the cult.

  I saw the show last night and it WAS creepy. Those girls were so honored to lay naked with the perv. I'm glad he got sentenced to jail. I have read that his son has taken over the 'church' or whatever they call it now that dad is in jail.

  Has anyone ever ratted out there family member to the socitey for talking to a disfellowhipped family member?

  hi everyone, the reason why i ask this question is (aka i've been defellowshiped for 16 years now) because within the past month my mom and brother and sister which are witnesses (after going to the famous assembly )have been bugging me, i've tried to do it in a nice way and tell my dear mother to leave me alone stop calling me and dont come around my house.

  she won't listen, i have never been close to my family or have had a relationship with them.. so it' doesnt bother me that they dont talk to me.

  but my point is that they need to follow their own rules.

  Peachy-sorry that your mom didn't do the right thing in regards to you as a young person. Shame on her and on those elders!!! I can see why you are not close with her. I think you should tell her what's on your mind. Some family relationships are toxic. Best Wishes!

  I'm sorry, I didn't get in her post that they were harassing her with WT stuff. They probably were but once again, I stand by my statement that they are just concerned for her and miss her as a part of their lives. Obviously, they are going about it the wrong way by preaching to her but none the less, they are worried.

  I don't want to hear what happened at the assembly, KH or what the latest article inthe WT says, but my mom loves me and is worried to death about my inactivity-as I'm sure that Peaches family is. I could never break her heart by telling her what I really think. I guess, to each his own.
