there are these things we call parts of speech.
the first sentence in any paragraph defines a subject.
since a thing can be anything except things that are not really things, a noun can be anything.
Me: Your funny
Farkle: Funny how, like a clown funny?
Me: No just funny ,funny.
Farkle: You mean like a F#$%en clown funny!
Me: well if you say so.

arrogance at it's best .
most members of jehovah's witnesses will tell you "once a baptized witness always a witness" there is no way out .
they most likely are referring to the so called knowledge of there "truth" as if the knowledge binds you forever to their rules.
Here is an E-mail reply from a lurker, one I was refering to by the way.>
this is not arrogance, my friend. this is misinformation on your part, you still being a jw has nothing to do what some may view as the truth. you referring to god as jovie is the same as your daddy calling black people spooks. it's obviously an uneducated remark that can be laughed at due to its poor taste. your comments have nothing to do with control by a cult but more about your own disillusionment with 20 yrs. of stupidity. regarding whatever you want to call god's name, if you still believe in him, do you really think that you are clever to make fun of god? you don't think you are doing that?? oh maybe you do it to tease people? whatever....all i can say is that its sad that you being an angry person has to be exclusively blamed on your being a witness.
> So what do you think of this reply?

Arrogance at it's best
Most members of Jehovah's Witnesses will tell you "once a baptized witness always a witness" there is no way out . They most likely are referring to the so called knowledge of there "truth" as if the knowledge binds you forever to their rules. The Watchtower now controls your destiny as to any relation you may have with their god. I here this from friends still under Watchtower control all the time. It is interesting how they will tell me "your still a Jovie too" because I might tell someone I was a cult member while in the their presence.( my friends all know my position) Referring to Witnesses as "Jovies'" and a cult will get them riled any time, just try it. The control and conditioning is astounding when you see and here the responses of those still on the fringes. They don't want to be known as witnesses on one hand but if it becomes known in a jesting manner they will make it known that I also am one, Jovie, as if that is some sort of retribution for outing them to a bartender, for an example.
This is drilled into there heads day after day, "once you have knowledge of Jehovah's laws" you'll be held more accountable or be killed is more accurate, if you disobey. Free will does not exist among the Witness community, you must go by there rules, which are considered direct from god, or you'll be killed.
So the GB spread a form of arrogance on down through the ranks that is rampant. If they actually had any backing from a divine being, I agree they would be a mighty force to be reckoned with. The average member is indoctrinated to the point they lose sight of the world around them, a good thing in their eyes, sorry to say. The general population does not care about Jehovah's Witnesses, They,JW's, will conclude it is a lack of interest in God. Around the big circular reasoning table it goes, on and on it goes.
It does not matter to me that other religions , of any size membership, are called a cult or not. That argument is also used "if we're a cult then so and so religion is also a cult" so what! I say Jehovah's Witness are a cult. Because in my limited involvement with other religions I may not be able to assess their beliefs nor do I want to. I was involved for 27 years with a cult and it is some times embarrassing to admit it to others if the subject should come up. I will admit it if it will mean preventing any others from being absorbed by the JW's.

june 1, 2001 watchtower.. whose standards can you trust?.
on the cover page it features a preacher holding a bible in his left hand and a chain with a cross pendant around his neck, a woman campaiging for an election, and a woman in the supermarket examining produce.. the words can you trust as you can see are in red for emphasis.. page four.
a lesson from the law.
Typical Watchtower strawman argument tactics.

i just wanted to say that perhaps now is a good time for the silentlambs group to add a fight against the society's blood policy to their agenda.
i think the society's latest actions in response to their pressure could be considered a reasonable victory and unless the attack is broadened to include child abuse and blood, i think their 15 minutes could be up.. i see the molestation issue and the respect gained in media circles for the silentlambs group providing a "limited time" opportunity to use this issue as a springboard to launch another offensive.. the society's recent actions regarding child molestation make the issue increasingly difficult to convince the public and active jws of the need for future major changes to their policy.
valuable time spent on the issue of molestation and trying to force the society to bend on the last few remaining "demands" while probably hundreds of witnesses die each year due to lack of blood might be better focused in another direction.. i think the common understanding that witnesses should be able to personally decide their healthcare without influence and threat of sanctions or reprisals from the congregation will be much easier to form a more united effort against the society.
Path,
quote:
>"The Society's recent actions regarding child molestation make the issue increasingly difficult to convince the public and active JWs of the need for future major changes to their policy."<
I think getting people out of the cult would be a better alternative than trying to change it. Slow changes would just keep the hopes of any on the edge of leaving, involved longer or indefinitely.

i just read the posting about the definition of apostate.
the new oxford american dictionary defines the word as: a person who renounces a religious or political belief or principal.
that is it period.
DocPolo,
That former brother in-law of yours D.C. always had a few choice names for you. By the way did you know he was accused of being a pedo at one time?

i argued with an elder that the organization was.
decaying and needed new programs to help its young.
people.. "but that would be social!
The remaining faithful rank and file members will follow their leaders into the oven. Many that have doubts are trapped inside the cult grip. The social seen among them is full of lies because of mistrust between members. Fear of gossip is rampant, fear of elders, fear of disfellowshipping, fear of circuit overseers visits etc. "FEAR FEAR FEAR" is all that many go on. They will claim it's fear of displeasing God that keeps them in line, however the WT god will kill you at the drop of a hat and think nothing of it. Why is the supposed eternal death, at the hands of the WT god such a frightening thing? Is the WT god going to keep you conscious to torment you in some way as the thought in other religions? (ex. Hellfire) Just what is the consequence if one does not measure up? We know the answer if we ever were a Jehovah's Witness, DEATH. I can remember it stated that "we are not a religion but a way of life", "we are life oriented not death oriented" . The latter being said because they promise to show you the way to everlasting life. The unwritten rule among Jehovah's Witnesses is you must live an austere life style to please God, or at least appear to do so. Is that really necessary? I can't speak for the WT god or any other God for that matter so I suppose we should listen to the GB ? They claim to speak for their god so we should all listen to them just because they make the claim? That is what the rank and file members do, blindly, listen by putting faith in men. Between 10 to 15 men of the GB and a bunch of lawyers to run interference for the mistakes so they can hang on to the power they have. Well the power is fading and it's about time, although slow, I can say it's evident as many JW's I speak with will secretly voice an opposing idea.
Then the reason I consider it important that the WT lose it's power is a question I can not always answer. One must have been a member to fully understand the firm grip, the suffocating hold they have on you to keep you there. When does one come to realize their are problems with the WT religion? It's deferent for each individual, that nagging feeling, that uncertainty, the doubts, the injustice, the boredom, the monotony... something will trigger and put up a red flag. It's time to get out, and out is a whole new life. So don't be afraid of the big organization, it's not that big, don't be afraid of displeasing the WT god, the GB DOES NOT represent any God and never did.
