  BTW, I've got "a thing" about anyone who says they were raised as a Witness and they gain fame or notoriety. Automatically, they ARE JW's. I realize that because we are supposed to be problem free because of our special "knowledge", that all JW's are fair game, but remember not everyone's a JW that is purported to be.

  You will find in most cases the kids are what their parents are no mater what their religion is or was. If you grow up Catholic for instance, and never attend church, they still call themselves Catholic. Are you going by the WT rules? Youre in till we say your not, but if you become known for ill repute you never were a member.

  i think that children represent a real and credible threat to the wt.

  children by nature are inquisitive and require explanations, which requires two way communication.

  years ago i had a friend tell me that he hated sushi.

  he said that it tasted terrible, and it made him sick.

  he then went into, how eating something that is raw is terrible for you and is a risk to your health.

  The other day I had a friends wife ask me "is this good coffee or is it strong coffee?" How can one ask a question like that without doing research on various coffees throughout the world?

  I happen to like strong coffee but in her limited way she tried to pigeonhole my taste in something because she only knew or likes weak coffee. I might add, she was raised a Witness so is that fact to blame for the limited stance she took? I think it maybe a contributing factor but obviously is not all there is to it.

  Education is by far the remedy for many woes.

  My Story

  first off, i want to give prop's to "dantheman"......that post inspired me to share my experience, and thanks to everyone that responded to my first post under "desperately seeking"....that was a nice welcome.

  this might ramble ..... i was born and bred into the borg....my dad was/is an elder, i had a big family, two older sisters, three younger bro's....i was baptized at 15 (i'm 25 now) and tried to pioneer...give talks...have repsonsibilities...but the wrong feeling that had been welling up in my stomach and kept getting stronger as time went on.. when i moved away from my hometown at 17, my life really started to change.....i met an awesome girl (another jw)....and we fell in love pretty quickly...and i also left home and got my own apt.

  (much to my fathers sadness).

  Welcome, This must have been difficult to see. I can imagine, I could have been in his place at one time.

  ...I told him that I beleived he was in a cult...and the look of horror/sadness/guilt/? in his face was pretty tough for me to handle, but it reinforced the decision that we had made.

  Biopure Inc. shares rose 64 cents yesterday to $4.14 with news that the Food and Drug Administration will review the company's application to market a blood substitute product. The Cambridge company's Hemopure would be used to treat anemia in orthopedic-surgery patients.

  This is very sad for all concerned.

  The Watchtower always claims the angels are directing the door to door work. Maybe they were asleep for this one or they figured she was going to die at Armageddon anyway and just watched. It is correct to assume we will not read about this in such a wonderful magazine.

  there is an inference that these ones ( elders ) can think for themselves, they cannot.

  I was an elder for ten years and I know what I would've done if litigation were to be brought against me personally. When newly appointed I thought I had the backing of god (the society), how ignorant. After a while it becomes apparent they will sell you out in seconds like dog waste.

  Also remember almost all would sacrifice there children to as we now know a false blood doctrine. So is trying to save ones position as an elder even questionable? : Give up your position and kill your kid? Keep your position and kill your kid? Kill your kid and keep your position? It all sounds so foolish in that context. My point is, mind control like the WT dispenses has no logic it is only to serve those at the top. The majority believe it is a loving god that will bless them with eternal bliss, uhh so the can study things for ever... so remain stupid now.

  I get sick just thinking about it ROUND and ROUND it goes. Belief in the WT version of god is evil, because the WT version of god is evil.
