QUESTION TO JW REGARDING THE DOCTRINE OF 144,000

i am not a jehovah's witness, and until yesturday i never knew the beliefs of your congregation.

when i did finally read them, i was amazed to discover that most of what the lord has revealed to me as truth, through my prayers and studies, is found in your beliefs.

and out of all the christian denominations that exist, "most" of your beliefs are according to the word of god, unlike the other churches.. .

The problem is that this is not based on the scriptures. That is why it is going to change. JW's believe that it is a literal #, even when the whole book of revelation if full of figurative #'s.

i've done a jwn search on beards and had some great reads.. i've learned the history of russell vs. rutherford and knorr and the hippies.. here's what i'd like to hear about.. either you or someone you know who grew a beard and the fallout because of it.. for me, i'd love to hear about the squeaky clean elder who decided to grow a beard and got removed because of it.. katie kitten, from england, on another thread told the story of her dad, the squeaky clean elder who grew a beard in the 70's and got away with it.. i don't think that would happen in california 2009.. anyway, what are your beard stories?.

My grandmother hates my beard. I told her that I will never shave it again so that everytime she sees me she can think about all of the man made rules that she is following.

Tower Of Babel

note:this was a post i made on another thread but i felt it was off topic so i giving it it's own thread.. someone(who i can't remember) on a thread(which i can't remember) said the tower of babel story is proven false because some languages evolved from others and thus that was another strike against the bible as being fiction.

however this person doesn't realize that there are languages on this earth that has absolutely no relation whatsoever such as chinese-english, spanish-arabic, greek-xhosa, etc.

not to mention all of the ancient languages that are now extinct due to invading countries forcing their own language on other countries.

I have a question that I have received a good answer to. Was the tower of babel taller then Burj Dubai? If it was not, then why dont God give a crap about this building?

I dont think that the tower of babel could have been that tall with out modern tech.

Is it possible that the tower fell over "not from God" but just because they did not have the building tech?
