  So if God didn't mean a literal day when he said "Day," doesn't that mean the NWT isn't the most accurate translation?

  @Possible-san: Thank you for your concern, but I thought my post would be informative and get people thinking. Well, that was my intention, anyway. Maybe some will complain that this argument is petty or that other translations are guilty for doing the same thing, but the point I was trying to make is that the NWT is no MORE accurate than other Bibles.

  But I also expressed "my own view."

  Well, although I do not know in what country you live, a Japanese TV program broadcast recently that the halves of U.S. population are fundamentalists (evangelical).
  And, for them, those Bibles translated into English word "day" are not wrong.
  And, for them, that is the literal sense.

  I think that your reasoning is interesting, of course.
  But, I feel also that it may be almost unconvincing for "JWs" and "evangelically."

  For JWs, that they do not interpret it literally is rather scientific.

  Is especially the NWT inaccurate in this case?
  Is it inferior as compared with other translations?

  Although if we say it as pastime, it may be OK, but such play never helps active JWs.
  They become still more obstinate, and begin to think that the Governing Body is right.
  
  And that is a fearful thing for the relatives who want to save them from that cult.

  On my website, I have tried to translate the Bible from Greek.

  There, that Greek word "charis" is always translated into "Kawaranu Ai" in Japanese.
  
  If that Japanese word "Kawaranu ai" is translated into English, it is "unchanging love" "constant love" "unfailing love."
  For instance, "Ephesians 6:24." (In Hebrew, that Greek word is "Chesedh" mostly.)

  That is telling us that God's "unfailing love."
  And that is "Grace."

  Yeah, that is what I stated.
  But they/GB have explained in their publications that the reason why they translated into such a word ("fine").

  "However coming back to your point, if kalos (fine, superb) is better than agathos (merely good), why does Jesus assign God the label 'Good' (agathos) but refers to himself not as the merely good shepherd but as the better 'Good' or 'Fine' (kalos) shepherd?"

  I think that it is interesting reasoning.
  But, probably, that is not related to the intention of that phrase of Jesus.

  First of all, in Hebrew, it is the same word ("tov", in Hebrew New Testament, Bible Society in Israel, 1996).
  But, the authors who wrote the Bible in Greek used different Greek words (agathos/kalos).

  Moreover, the GB has not said, "kalos is better than agathos."
  They say that it is different Greek words, although both words are alike.
  
  They have translated those "synonyms" (agathos/kalos) to "different English words".
  Even if you do not like the translation of a word "fine", I think that you should valuate their effort.

  "This would appear to make Jesus a better 'God' than the Hebrew God or at least equal to him if we accept (as JW's do) that the Bible they have is the closest to the original text and a superior translation."

  That is an interesting view.
  But, probably, that is not a view of JWs.
  
  For JWs, Jehovah is the most excellent/fine shepherd.
  For them, that "Jesus is the fine shepherd" means that "Jehovah is the fine shepherd, too."

  I think that this topic is well known among active JWs, IMO.
  But although many average/ordinary JWs (people who are not interested in the original language) may not know.

  However, in their publications, it is written like this.

The latter denotes that which is intrinsically good, beautiful, well adapted to its circumstances or ends (as fine ground, or soil; Mt 13:8, 23), and that which is of fine quality, including that which is ethically good, right, or honorable (as God’s name; Jas 2:7). It is closely related in meaning to good, but may be distinguished by being translated “fine,” “right,” “honest,” or “well.”—Mt 3:10; Jas 4:17; Heb 13:18; Ro 14:21.

  Additionally, the New World Translation distinguishes between the adjective kalos, which means fine, excellent, superb, choice, and agathos, which chiefly means that which is morally good. So, at John 10:2-16, Jesus did not speak of himself as merely a good shepherd, but as a fine, excellent, superb shepherd.
