Satan- Perfect Scapegoat for Witnesses Ignoring Real Causes of Situations
by flipper inin a recent thread i started on music i couldn't help noticing how many had to throw their alleged " worldly music " out because parents, or elders told them their music brought them " under the influence of demons ", or listening to music was how " the demons got inside us ".
this superstitious belief that " satan " is to blame for each witnesses demise is really a passing of the buck of responsibility so it sidesteps real issues involved.. for example : check these familiar expressions out we all heard while we were jehovah's witnesses .. .
1. if a person was stumbled and said, " i don't want to go to meetings anymore.

Fake Knock and Other Sneaky Tactics During Field Service
by sacolton inyeah, i hated "field circus".
i don't like bothering people on saturday mornings about the latest watchtower & awake magazines and try to convert them from their religon to become a jehovah's witness.
so, what i did was just wait until the group passes by and fake knocked.

You are right on. I always felt like that. Even when I truly believed that this was the truth I just could not accept the way we did it. I was like come on this means peoples lives what are we doing just driving around aimlessly. I remember telling the friends (they were not in anyway friends) in the car group that we have been blessed to know the truth and we have got to tell the people in the territory because the system is so close to the end everyone is going to die if we do not reach them and I would just be so frustrated driving all day getting out of the car if I was lucky once sometimes I did not get out at all. Why did I not get a clue than.
The flip side of this was that I hated to talk at the door because I always just felt like a magazine sales person and I was never sure what in the heck I was truly doing there but I bought into it so much that I believed it. Oh it was so crazy looking back.
Oh My God how stupid was I. That may be a good name in some ways but I was really stupid. I bought into in all the way. Yeah Spike and Reniaa go for it if you really think this is the true religion get in your cars and drive all day long hitting two house along the way. We have to get the preaching work done you know it is a life saving work.

Then there was another trick the pio's used of knocking on one door in town & then walking to the next town to do a call then walking all the way back to do another.
I am learning so much on this sight. I thought that this was just something only the hall that my husband and I pioneered in did. I know that may sound stupid.
I used to drive me nuts because we pioneered in the country and the territory was 150 miles one way and 50 miles the other way. We had 10 pioneers and they would make a call in one place and then drive 40 miles to the next call and then back to where we had just came from. We would leave town and drive 70 miles for one call come back to town and pick up someone drive 40 back the same way. It was so crazy. All the Gas and where and tear on the car which was always our car. My husband hardly worked because he was the only elder and the hall needed him so I worked one or two jobs plus pioneered and I was exhausted. None of the other pioneer would give us a cent for gas.
I always felt like such a idiot, it was a small town of 2000 people and everyone in the world knew we were doing the service this way. The worldly people in town joked about us wasting time and gas. I brought it up many times to the CO and he thought it was just fine. I told him how exhausted I was and that no one was helping with money for gas. It was like oh well you are only severing Jehovah not men keep that in mind.
No one wonder I was so depressed. I was very depressed to the extreme where I thought of suicide. I never could understand why I was so depressed in the true religion that brings such joy. I passed out in service because I was just too tired. I left to go outside because I did not feel well and sit in the car. I passed out on the back pouch and the sister I was with didn't even come to check on me as she was inside with a study and God forbid that she spend the time to make sure I was not dead. She did tell me she heard me fall latter on.
I know the brothers at Bethel do not care, I have told them. This just shows to me so clearly that this is not the life saving work that they say it is.

The Last Warning
by cameo-d indid i read somewhere that wt is putting out "the last warning"?.
was it assembly topic or something?.
does this mean they will shut up now?.
-

Everyone in my hall who has been to the DC said that it is the last warning that we might get I kid you not, that the system is going to end NOW!!!!. I thought they were joking the way the said it but sadly they meant it. I almost laughed in their faces the way they were talking it was to bizarre to believe that they were buying it. I just stood there not knowing what to say. One younger sister said this DC will go down as one of the greatest assembles that there ever was, like the 1922 advertise advertise advertise. How sad that they all believe it is all I can say.

Did you ever do the fake knock and sister or brother supper zealous was with you and said I do not think they could hear that and then they banged on the door so loud that you just wanted to crawl away. Of course it was your door and the HH was so pissed and you had to explain why you were there and of course they thought you were the one who knocked.
Oh the good times that we had in service.

I had the CO visit me two weeks ago and I told him I was so much happier now that I have not been at the meetings in the last 5 months. He shot right back to me and who do you think is causing you to feel happy. I said the fact that I am not seeing child rapists hold and touch children anymore seems to me to be the reason. (OK so I was not bold enough to say child rapists but I said pedophiles).
The CO said NO that is not the reason. I was like really seems to me to be the reason, he said NO, who do you really feel is making you feel better not being at the meetings. I said I do not know then but not having the stress of being in such a negative place really does seems to me to be the reason I feel happy. He said NO that is not the reason. Oh my God. What am I five five years old. I was like well then you have got me on this one then because I am pretty sure it is because I feel at peace finally not being around pedophiles. He said NO thats not the reason, lets read a Scripture and you guessed it the Scripture said it was Satan. He had me read the Scripture and even then I still would not say the word Satan and he was so frustrated. I just keep telling him it was not being around pedophiles that made me happy and I was sure that was the reason. I know he just wanted to smack me because I would not give him what he wanted.
It is just all so stupid. Do they even hear themselves. Oh my God it is just Satan, Satan, Satan. How about instead of blaming Satan they just keep child rapists from children, that might help.

The desperation of JWs hoping the end comes "soon"
by sir82 ini'm starting to sense a certain desperation among jws, that they feel that the great tribulation must start soon.
i think this is due, in many cases, to their own personal situation, financial or otherwise.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and these guys really start to suffer - what then?
the watchtower's promises that "jehovah would not forsake them if they put kingdom interests first" by skipping or dropping out of college, turning down promotions, "simplifying" their lives by selling their homes and moving to the hinterlands...will all prove to be meaningless.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and "jehovah" doesn't bail them out...then what?.

Mary's response just reminded me of when I was a teenager, I had totally forgotten this.
There was this old brother in the hall who was married and was very poor. He had mental problems and acted really crazy but he was always so zealous for the preaching work. What he did to make money was collect soda cans, they had nothing to live on. As a kid I always thought that was so sad. But no one in the hall would help the couple with money now this was in the early 80's. One winter day he did not come home and they finally found him dead frozen to death in an alley where he had fallen getting his cans. he was so old he just could not get up by himself after he had fallen. The brother had always kind of creped me out as a kid but I remember feeling so sad and no one else seemed to be sad or even bothered by the fact that he died that way. It was like oh well that was just crazy old Joe for you, Jehovah will remember him in the new system at least.
Why or why did I not wake up back then and see that this is all crap. As a teenager it really bothered me how cold everyone was to his death. I had totally forgotten this until Mary said something that reminded me of him.
This is really just a very sad religion.

Is The WTS Getting Desperate for Males? KM Aug 2009
by Hopscotch injust thought this article was interesting in view of what has been said in the last couple of years on the forum about the declining number of elders and servants and those reaching out.
add to that the large percentage of young teenage boys who leave 'the truth'.
i can't ever remember this much space in a km being devoted to converting men.. para 2 states: "when a family head accepts the truth, he often influences others in the family to join him in pure worship".

Don't the folks in the ivory tower hear that women folk work too? Don't they realize the men in the congregation work and want to have some personal time on evenings, weekends, holidays?
No they do not realize that. I am so bitter. I married an elder and we had no time together when we were first married well for most of our married life. The Brog came first and I was second or third of fourth depending on who was in line well I was alway last in line. The CO knew this and told me to just buck it up because the new system was sooooooooooo close. Then I could have all the time I needed with my husband.
Yeah the good times.

Jehovah's Witnesses invite ''all'' to attend summer convention........65 miles away
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwhile i was working outside on a customer's house,a witness handed me a tract inviting me to this summer's assembly.
he handed me the invite, told me what a nice job i was doing and left.. i read that the summer convention was about 65 miles from where i live.
when i was a witness driving 65 miles would of been no problem.

I have always felt this was stupid and when I did the track work the last time I felt so dumb saying you are invited to attend but it is 3 hours away or 150 miles. Everyone at the door just looked at me like had I lost my mind are you kidding me you want me to drive 3 hours to hear a one hour talk from some religion that they felt was nuts anyway. I was like well we are in this world wide work and I just wanted to get away. Nice that I am not doing it anymore.
