Since leaving the witnesses....
by LouBelle inmy life has been an absolute joy.
i didn't realise how unhappy i was and how much tension, angst and animosity i actually carried around with me when in that faith - it was always us against them, with regards to everything.
i wasn't allowed to just be myself, to be free to express myself - and by that i don't mean being sexually immoral, drinking and passing out...i just mean plain and simple me laughing, joking, sleeping in, playing sports, healty compition, buy a gift for my mother on mothers' day, celebrating a birthday of someone i love (all those beautiful little things that make a person unique you know).. my life now is free, happy, mostly full of joy and peace.

I am just starting my life outside but I agree with you when you said
My life now is free, happy, mostly full of joy and peace. I'm more compassionate towards strangers and truly have a love for my fellow man that I did not have as a witnesses. I'm healthier, stronger and just a much better person for it.
Well I agreed with it all. It is just so hard to leave the brain washing that we have went through.

The biggest scandals in your local congs
by jacethespace inwhat was the biggest scandals[or incidents] in your own congregations that got you starting to doubt whether the watchtower was what it made itself out to be?.
one the things for me was the attitude of the people in the congregation after i had took some time off meetings and then returned again.i quickly realized there was no unconditional love only conditional love.also when the watchtower had a letter read out from the platform warning us to not watch the bbc panarama documentary on the watchtowers child abuse problems.and everyone just avoided watching it and said that it was "satan"trying to use anything to get us out the "truth".

two witness ruling ?
by KAYTEE inif a paedophile commits a crime against a junior there has to be, according to the watchtower two witnesses for action to be taken.. if one party of a marriage commits adultery, does there have to be the same, (two witnesses) before action is taken?.
if not........................ kt.

Thank you Big Tex
Your statement here is right on.
Jesus once said "by their fruits you shall know them". Any group of people who protects a man who rapes children, and then does more damage by threatening the child, and their family, are not showing by their actions they have anything in common with a god of love. The scripture you cite merely proves my original statement that a god of love does not exist amongst that sect
Having just dealt with this myself I know for a fact that they do not care in the least for children they only protect the child molesters. And for years latter. I have seen with my own eyes child molesters hold children change dippers etc and if I say anything about it I am threatened with being df'ed. That is not love. Like Big Tex said there is no love in this sect.

Thanks Mrs Fiorini where you said
they never accept responsibility. Their first response to a problem, complaint, etc. is to blame the one who is pointing out the problem. A legitimate organization would want to hear about any errors in judgement, problems, etc. so they could correct them before it turned into a real issue. Instead, the WT and their representatives, whether they're elders, CO's DO's, etc. will, with few execeptions, blame the victim first. I believe this is so because it allows them to not have to question the system or threaten the power structure. It results in the people at the bottom always having to bear the brunt of the mistakes.
You could not have hit the nail on the head anymore. The CO just did this to me. He said I needed to take take responsibility for my part in being up set because child molesters were holding children. I would not do it and would not back down, he did not let up and I did not let up. He finally caved. I was so hurt and angry that they could even expect me to take any blame for it. It was interesting really I was almost yelling and he was toe to toe with me but I would not give in and he either had to back down or leave and so he did back down. I do feel good about that it was a small victory. How crazy was it this pedophile was holding children for four years in our hall and the CO responce was well he did stop. Yeh only because I finally found out he was a child molester and through a fit other wise he would still be holding children. Because of course he did not do the crime even though he was in jail.
You are so right they blamed me because I was pointing out a problem baby rapists holding children and they were mad. And you are right this is not a legitimate organization because they will not correct the problem,.
Thanks everyone for you inputs. vs77

Mr. Flipper Talks with Bethel Legal Service Desk Rep About JW Child Abuse
by flipper inwell - i had been wanting to do this for a long time , to question a legal department representative at bethel about the child abuse settlements and jw child abuse, since last year when the news came out about it.
especially since my dad , an elder for years was never aware of it and has on his own taken steps to see that families with children are informed if a former pedophile is in their congregation.
i was curious as to what the current views and policies in place are .

My Assignment For Ray Franz
by sacolton intoday i met the widow of ed dunlap, who was of the watchtower writing committee and a great thinker.
he found that the watchtower was not in harmony with the scriptures, so they disfellowshipped him.
when ray franz was disfellowshipped, it was ed who took him in and gave ray a job and a place to stay.

Thanks so much for what you are doing. I will send her a card at least. It just breaks my heart that someone like her who gave her life to this religion could wind up with no one truly there for her. This is such a sad religion. Thanks for letting us know about her.

Did a householder ever "break your spirit" at the door?
by kitten whiskers inthe thread on creepiest things at the door got me to thinking about the field service.. when i was having my initial doubts, and keeping up with "theocratic" requirements was hard (we had a new born and a two year old diagnosed with asthma which had us in the hospital several times, and only one vehicle), i had mine broken.. i can't really remember what the man said.
he was angry and took out all of his frustrations on me.
i had never been so abused before.

The householder no but the ones in the truth working with me yes. I have been put down so much for what and how I talk at the doors. I do not know why as I was not that bad, not that I am bragging but honestly I was no worse than they were at the door. Once I did the door step study offer when I was about 20 years old and a young wife said yes I would love to study with you. She was about my age and maybe she was wondering what JW's had to say. Anyway I was on cloud nine I was so excited to tell everyone in the car group. Only thing there was this elder in the car who said you cannot kept that study. I was like of course I can, I thought he was joking but no he was not joking. He asked the address and what the womans name was, wrote it down and said I know a sister who can study with her. You cannot do the study. I till this day do not understand what the elder had against me. He was older in his early 70's or something but he felt I was to dumb to conduct the study. That hurt me so bad and it really did break my spirit.
So many of the witnesses are so back bitting and mean. I came from the wrong side of the tracks and my parents were the lowly ones in the truth, I was never supposed to amount to anything and still do not even though I have pioneered and been to Bethel I never could do enough. I am still not worthy. I know it is strange but in the witnesses it is really is a dog eat dog world. There is no love and the only praise you get is when you get is when you can get someone to show an interest in the religion. So everyone wants to shine above the other person. It is just such a sad religion.

Thanks Dacheech where you said
example: you're in a room with a 100 people, and you're the only one hearing a fly..... you start swatting around or asking others.... they look at you funny
and say "there is no fly, relax" because they've been brainwashed to ignore the flies.
That is the best example that I have heard. It is so true.
Also thanks mouthy. Thanks so much for your concern.
And Flipper, I am going to stop going after this Oh my word do they do a mind trip on you, part of it is all the other ones there just soaking it all up. I mean there was about a 100 people there are just nodding away in a brain dead state. It makes you feel so crazy. Like why am I the only one who can see this is all crap. I will try to call latter. vs77
