Can a person be a Christian and a scientologist?
by truthlover inlooking at their web site, it seems they rely completely on mankind to solve problems, yet their message is so close to the scriptures, it makes me wonder ---if, once you have your life in order- the scientology way, mankind should resolve all their problems since they believe all are equal, etc.. they dont seem to believe in god or in satan, but that the world is in a mess because men dont work together to better themselves.. any comments??.
theirs seem to be a perfect life, and have professionals in place to help relieve anyone of any baggage they carry from early life, ie -abuse, be it physical, emotional or religious..... .

What will the WBTS do about the youth problem?
by easyreader1970 inmany youngsters, even ones brought up in "the truth", are leaving the organization, some never to return.
they're not doing so because they want to party or gain wealth (as the society would have you believe) but they are doing so because they are not stupid.
it is no longer 1974. people have much more information at their fingertips these days and nobody is closer to the signal of the internet than young people.

I know at our 2 day assembly, the DO asked that all interested younger men attend the elders meeting the next morning - those that wanted to become a MS.. during his part on the program, the DO - in front of all in attendance said " do you know, not one young brother attended this meeting"! I was shocked, that this would be mentioned off the platform in front of everyone, you would think this should have been kept behind closed doors.

Assuming all are still "Christians" even though leaving the truff, the spectre of xmas raises its ugly head Just because everything is pretty and steamcleaned, what about the origins? What about the bible where it says that they take a tree out of the forest and decorate it with silver and gold - a disgusting thing to God in any way you want to say it... so does that mean, you no longer have a heavenly father?? Dont want to be anyones conscience, but facts are facts, when you have a practise dedicated to death, sexuality, devil worship, sacrifices, and any other wanton practises, how can you logically interpret this to be something good... and BTW it is just not the JW's who do not celebrate xmas - years back govenments in North America tried to stop the practise but because people wanted this bad type of conduct, it was revived, but not with the total lewd behaviour..not to mention, Santa Clause takes the place of Jesus at this time of the year in kid's minds... so, who do you serve?? Are you still a Christian??

Was Jesus born in the fall or in the spring?
by Bonnie_Clyde inwe all know it wasn't december.
the wt has always said the first part of october.
the reasoning i remember is that they calculate that jesus' ministry was 3-1/2 years long; and since jesus died in the spring of 33 ce, he must have been baptized in the fall of 29 ce.

There is an interesting commentary of the origins of Xmas, along with info on the birth date of Jesus at http://tellingthetruth.50webs.com/4-4.html After watching this independent commentary that is about 20 min long, you may well question why any Christian wants to celebrate Xmas -- Bottom line is who do you want to please............
