as mentioned in my very first port here, i will now give my story and some thoughts i have so far.. i ve been lurking here for about a month, before i registered.
well, a few months ago something like that would be unthinkable for me.. i was raised as a jw, and serve currently as an elder in a congregation.
i have family, also jws.

for many years, i had serious issues with alot of scriptures.
the creation account, the flood, jonah in the whale, etc.
scriptures that are scientifically falsifiable.

you don't say what the particular scripture is supposed to be damning of.... men in general?.... Itself as being inspired?..... The notion that God exists?.... Today's religious applications in the various so-called Christian religions?... etc. I am sorry for butting in on this post, as I don't usually on this site, but I was curious as I was reading the various responses of those left to decide for themselves how it applies.

all my years of camping , hiking, yard work and gardening and now i get a poison ivy rash .
(one week away from our vacation .
) i am all itchy , scratchy and down right bitchy right now .
when I was a kid, I lived in rural Pennsylvania. Poison ivy thrives there. I had more than my share of it. If I would go swimming in the community pool, I would get rid of the horror part of it in a day or two. I assume it was the chlorine in the water. When I was older I used to cut my own firewood; once I got it on my face and it looked like it was going to get in my eyes.The doctor gave me prednisone tabbs and it cleared it up fast.
