Well, we all know what has been said about absolute power. And this is one corrupt organization. It must really make these little men feel very superior to make and change rules at their whim. They give not one iota as to the consequences of the rank and file who dutifully try to jump through their hoops in order to remain within the WT sacred circle.
I personally know a couple who lost their 5 year-old son because of the prohibition of blood transfusions. They are still active JWs, but they are totally messed up mentally. And who wouldn't be? It just tears my heart out to think of what they went through all because of this organization and their twisted dogma.

Blood Issue took my mom last night
by rwagoner inafter years of fighting a physical disability that ended in kidney failure and several bouts of respiratory/cardiac arrestmy mom landed in the hospital last week.
the doc's said she needed heart surgery and kidney transplants but before they could operate they need to get her blood count back up.
it had fallen well below what her body could naturally restore on its own she she needed transfusions.

They Killed Their Neighbors - Warning to those who above this
by Dogpatch ini thought this was a pretty good article to find on cnn.
we all like to think that we could never be victims of groupthink.

Yes, isn't it interesting that after realizing how this organization turned people seeking Christian ideals and love into judgemental elitists that those same people can so easily return to those unwanted traits. You would think that after an eye-opening event such as that that their consciousnesses would have evolved to a much higher degree. We should always be wary of the "Us" vs "Them" type of thinking. Love and acceptance of our differences is what life should be about.
Thank you for your post, Randy.
I agree with many of the other posters. I find it difficult to join anything that smacks of organizational tactics. -

Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !
by Simon inas i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/.
it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

You are right, Blondie. I have to wait until Simon says, lol. Impatient me. I just saw so many had already done it and that I should too. That old JW mentality coming to the fore.

Well, I've tried ten times to log onto the new forum, but it says my username or password is not correct. So I guess I will wait a few more days. Maybe all the kinks are not worked out yet.

Phobias, Taboos, and Perversion
by jgnat inall three - phobias, taboos, and perversions - exist in society.
phobias, certainly, are created by an anger/aggression response in a particular zone in our brain.
it triggers powerful hormone production such as adrenaline, to get us ready for fight-or-flight.

Oh yes I do remember the whole weird thing about saying the word "luck." I had someone really lay into me one day when I said how "lucky" I was. They told me that we should use the word fortunate in place of the work lucky. So I looked up the definition for the word fortunate and found out it was just another word that had the same meaning as lucky.
So, next time I saw that sister, I told her that I had looked up the word "fortunate" in the dictionary and it had the same meaning as lucky. She was very taken aback by my remark. The next time I saw her she told me that she looked up the two meanings and that...yes they are really the same!!!! So silly anyway making such a big deal over such a trivial thing. But then that's life as a JW. -

Deceptive or just wrong?
by johnnyc ini have been virtually non-stop studying everything i can get my hands on with regards the wtbts, and "apostate" literature and information.
in all honesty, 80% at least is non-sense and over critical.
however, i do find about 20% (if i have to create a percentage reference) is appropriate in its line of reasoning and questioning.

Dear JohnnyC,
May I remind you of Matthew 24:36 Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens or the Son, only the Father.
I would think that says it all. The WTBTS go directly against that scripture and have done so from the very inception of their organization. I say SHAME on them for doing this to their congregants and SHAME on us for being so stupid as to believe in their hogwash!!!! They arrogantly think they can predict the Time of the End when it clearly states in the scriptures that the Son of God does not even know it.
You my poor human are still enmeshed in their web of lies. I pray that you continue your research and set yourself free from this so-called Truth that is not truth at all. -

I want to apologize for the error I made in stating that the Mayor of San Francisco was the government official that was killed at Jonestown. Just as CNN stated, it was Leo Ryan the Congressman from California that was killed that fateful day.
I think what all those people went through was real, living evil...evil incarnate. I recommend an incredible book that you might want to read. It is called Evil: An Investigation by Lance Morrow. I could not put it down. I was watching The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson when Mr. Morrow made a guest appearance. The man is so interesting and Craig was so fascinated with his book. After hearing their discussion on the subject of evil, my curiosity piqued and I ordered the book off of Amazon immediately. My husband is now reading it. It raises more questions than it answers and this Jonestown tragedy really falls into the realm of evil happenings.
Best to all...IHAD -

Put people together in a virtual intellectual, emotionless vacuum and what do you expect! This has been going on forever. I remember when I first came into the org. and one of the elders who had recently got divorced started spending every free moment he had with me and my hubby and 2 kids. I was young and he was lonely. He eventually told me that he would love to take it to something more than friendship, but we both did not, thank heavens. Can't even remember what I could have possibly found attractive about him. I think I was just naive and flattered.
But I was given the label of "flirt", because I always complimented the brothers on how nice their tie or suit was. I even got a little "counseling" while skating with an elder at the local skating rink (we were doing one of those congregation things) and he told me that I should watch what I say to the brothers because they had talked about me. Dang, guess nobody knew how to take a compliment back then...or maybe I was totally smoking hot and I just never knew it.......Yeah, that's the ticket!!! -

I remember this day all too well. My husband had a fellow co-worker killed while he was filming the departure of the Mayor of San Francisco and all the others who were boarding the plane to leave. Suddenly, the view from the camera goes sideways and you realize the cameraman was shot (he was hit in the head so he died instantly.) Another cameraman was shot in the arm, but pretended he was dead so he was able to escape. Such an awful, awful day in history. Hard to imagine someone can have that much control over people.
Of course, we all know the origin of the trite phrase about drinking the Kool-aid. Thanks for nothing Jim Jones!
