one of the jehovahs witness doctrines that many of us have had trouble believing is that the seven angels trumpet blasts described in revelation applied to events that occurred in the 1920s at seven assemblies held around the world at the time when judge rutherford was the president of the watchtower society.. the revelation climax book (1988) contains this summary on page 173:.

highlights of jehovah's trumpetlike judgment proclamations.

1922 cedar point, ohio: a challenge to christendom's leaders in religion, politics, and big business to justify their failure to bring peace, prosperity, and happiness.

creationist: are you trying to tell me that all those plants know where the riverbank is?.

any thoughts on that particular phrasing?

personally, i think the wts uses it as another form of mind control.

by calling the individual "one of jehovah's witnesses," it lends a generic feel to the wording.

Documentary About The Flood and Noah's Ark

about a week or two ago i watched a documentary about the flood in noah's day entitled "in search of noah's ark".

two things i found very interesting in this program is a theory that one person had about how they believed the flood was caused due to a meteor hitting the ocean creating a tsunami that flooded the entire earth.

scientist were unanimous in their view that this is a very plausible scenario and that there is no way to rule this possibility out.

Imputation- do you agree?

imputation is the concept that we are all sinners because of the original sin of adam.

and our only redemption is found in the sacrifice of christ on the cross/stake.

imputation implies that guilt passes from person to person from generation to generation, and redemption is passed from christ to us.

CTR and the "zero year"

charles taze russell (ctr) was aware of difficulties with his dates.

while he was not prepared to move his babylonian dates of 538 (babylons fall), 536 (jews return), and 606 (destruction of jerusalem), he was quite prepared to move the 1914 terminus by a full year to 1915.. later, with its fixation at maintaining the new significance being given to 1914, the wts shifted ctrs babylonian dates back by one year, to 537 and 607 respectively.

but russell was not so concerned with the accuracy of 1914 and was quite prepared to move the terminus to 1915. he wrote the following in 1912:.
