by minimus inwhen i first joined this board, i felt they had "cultish" aspects but would not go to the point of saying the "c" word.. now, i unequivocally say that jws are a cult!.

My First Birthday Cake
by seagrl inyesterday i got to blow out the candles on my first birthday cake!
it took me over 10 years to let go of feeling guilty of doing this as well as holidays.. i am free!!
at 46 ( on the 8th) i can now celebrate my birthday without guilt since i had my own children!.

do you see a different sense of freedom of speech which you can partake in - as opposed to being under " information control " as a jehovah's witness and only being allowed to talk about subjects that are previously arranged for you to discuss ?

my joy was being able to learn about anything i set my mind to, even the metaphysical, which I could never have done while "in". I can do things now that would have caused me gulit in the past, such as have some birthday cake, buy a xmas present, and get drunk if I want to!! So good to be free.

The well is poisen! Why go to a toxic well of a WT convention this summer?
by Thechickennest ini have seen a couple of threads today about ones that went to a convention.
they were complaining that their experience was not good in doing so.
in my opinion when its over its over.

Were my brains sucked out ? what was I thinking? it was the worst time I ever had!!

Aussie outback Witnessing experience! Have you done isolated territory!
by Witness 007 indriving for miles between houses...sometimes i would lose a hub-cap and have to go back "hubcap hunting.
" why bother since my car was as old as i was .....20 years.
people that live 30 miles from town would be shocked to see us!

Upstate NY and Pa, I was from Nj and when i moved there, i was used to walking door to door. it was quite the change to have to drive so far and how long the driveways were.. I was in constant fear of being shot at!! I wonder how they afford the gas now??
