So sorry so many have gone through or going through this experience. I never understood what it was like before. The sorrow is sometimes too much to bear. You just have to move on. Bumble Bee thanks for the encouragement. You said something to me once about being on your own "it isn't so bad." I am beginning to see this for myself, slowly. Sweetface always good to hear from you. Happy moving day Saturday. I will think of you as I make my way down the East coast. Hope I can access the board from my sister's computer. If not see you all in a few weeks.

Witness work at 2 a.m.?
by Fatfreek ina non-jw friend in a southern state has close ties to a jw with a late teen-aged son.
this son is pioneering during late hours, meaning 11 pm to 2 am.
i'm told his car group calls on, among others, convenience store workers where they apparently have much idle time on their hands.

I can remember some examples of truck stop visiting. They asked all who received the cassette tapes to turn them over after reading the mags & put them together with same mag in a plastic bag to hand out to drivers of the big rigs. I got rid of lots of the tapes like this. Who needs them once they were played. I know people that save them. For what? Are you really going to listen to them again? There were many pioneers that got together at 5:30 AM to start their witness work in my old congregations. There were lots of gas stations with little coffee shops that they would visit. Also, they hit parking lots at big companies as the workers were going into work. It worked out better when it was light outside. That way people didn't get frightened. Gotta get that time in!! Glad I never did that!

Well, I finally did it.
by mavie ini finally contributed to a presidential campaign.
during my witness years i could never understand why people would give up their money for such a passing transient thing such as a presidential campaign.
don't they understand that the president will only be in office for 4 - 8 years and then the next one will most likely extinguish any good work they had done?

I hope that means you registered to vote as well. That is an empowering thing to think you can be a part of something that was taken from you when you were a witness. I love being involved in the political process now. It also makes me feel good to drop money in a bucket or buy a ticket to help out a good cause. You are part of humanity again. Good for you!

Yes, we are going to stay friends. Just not as close as now. I will miss him. When, you are so sad it is hard to keep it friendly but I am working on it everyday. This just happened the end of May, so I think I am moving along in fast forward. Life is short, especially when you are as old as I am! Trying to stay positive is easy but now I get a fresh start.

Dagney, thanks for the hugs. Sparks, I love you & enjoyed talking with you for two hours last night on the phone, my ear still hurts. Priest way to go on giving up the smokes. I haven't smoked since I was in my twenties & am afraid to even try it again, because I would be hooked again. Junctionguy his comments are not vague. They are clear cut & I hate to say it I can see his point. We have been living as roomates for years. Haven't worked on the marriage but let it go. I just thought we were going through a different phase in life since we are older now. We have both been faithful for all the years together. I still love him & he says he loves me & will love me forever. I am just trying to get my head around the idea that I won't be married anymore. It has been a contant feature in my life so long. He is my best friend. That is the biggest loss. Now I have to stand on my own two feet by myself. I have to find a new place to live. I couldn't stay where we are now, too many memories. Maybe, family is the way to go.

Thank you all for your comments. I am going to therapy. That has helped me get a better attitude to improve myself. He isn't interested in going with me to work it out. He has made up his mind that he doesn't have to be married anymore. This is his choice. I will have to live with this & move on. I have been thinking about relocating to where my family lives. They are in a place I have never wanted to live but I will go check it out. They aren't witnesses but are non-judgemental Baptists . They have offered me companionship. I have told my older sister that I probably would not be attending church anytime soon. She is so happy I left the dubs she doesn't care. She could use help with my mother who is 86 with the beginnings of Alzeheimer's. I have a nephew who is in the music business who I have more in common than anyone. He is in his forties & would love to get to know me better. I have had little contact with all these lovely people because of being wrapped up with the Borg for so long. I was in for over 30 years (we had gotten married then started a study.) I have been reading on here for three years but didn't post until now. Guess I didn't have anything to say until now. Thanks again for the feedback.

I have been married a long time over thirty years. My husband says he wants doesn't want to be married anymore. He left dubs before me. I left in 2005. Still trying to get my footings from that now he hits me with this. Such a history to give up together. So many things we have done together. No children but one very special dog. It is all very fresh. Any suggestions?
