Mr. Flipper I left in 2005 so you can add another one. I haven't been coming on here much anymore. Too busy and too occupied with more important things that take up too much time.

i started a thread last week about when each of you exited the jehovah's witness cult.
i received about 41 responses from different people on the board and the years they exited the witnesses.
i went back and analyzed the dates you gave me and it was apparent from your replies that 25 of you left between 1998 and 2009 a period of about the last 10 years.

door-to-door soliciting rules proposed by phoenix city councilman sal diciccioby ray stern in newsthursday, mar.
26 2009 @ 1:56pmit's kind of creepy: there's a sudden knock at the door.
You know they would still knock on the door, don't you! We were told for awhile to even go to doors with "No Trespassing" signs then there was an article in the km about it and told not to go. Weird, weird, times we live in, huh?

we talk alot on here about music from past decades.
death cab for cutie?
disturbed?
Coldplay is my favorite as of I have all their cds. Just got the new one last month. I still love Dave Mathews Band and Foo Fighters. Anybody else?
Kit
are you that much different now?.
I like Lady Lee have learned how not to feel guilty, how to have fun, not to blindly believe what others tell me, also done volunteer work, and done a lot of growing up. I am learning how to live by myself, even if I don't want to. Learned so much about myself. Have become more tolerant of others and their faiths. Freedom is a wonderful thing. One day I will be happy again with someone to love but right now I am getting to know myself very well.

i would definitely say that the prime friend-making years are at school and college.
after that it slows down dramatically.. for those that were born into the truth and left the organization, it is infinitely harder to find and keep friends.
the loss of all jw social contacts leaves just the workplace as a starting point, and if you happen to work for yourself you don't even have that.. that's why i value this forum because having left the jws i have met a couple of people on here who i have met in person - we all share a common experience.. it takes courage and a willingness to seek out new friends, wherever they may be..
We were all taught how to talk to strangers by the Borg. Before I was a witness I had many friends from high school, then from work. I made some friends as a dub that have stuck around for years even after leaving. But you can make friends anytime in your life. Join some groups and ask how they got involved in the group. It is simple to make friends just hard getting out to do it. Many of us become less trusting after our experience with the wt. There are lovely people out there who need friends and some you can live without. You'll find your way of finding new friends if you really want to just get out there. Go on a local meet up.com to check for things you have an interest in and go to something. Become an organizer for one of the things you like. Get your own group together.

my problems with the wtbs have always been their doctrine and their absolute control of the rank and file, not the principles that they and most mainstream religions teach.
i grew up in a predominantly black urban metropolitan area that had a high crime rate and drug usage.
when i go back to my old neighborhood, i always hear about how some of my peers are drug addicts, incarcerated or dead.
I learned from my good friends on the old JWD that Crisis of Conscience was a good book. I picked up a hard copy of an older edition at the Used book store for only $6. I have ordered one on Amazon in the soft cover. I am still learning how to make real friends that you can trust. I am also looking forward to making some contacts with some older friends. I will find out what is important in life to me. In the dubs learned some things about the bible that really don't matter. Need to take a look at that book again someday. Wonder how long I will live? Will I have cake at my birthday this year? Those are the things I learned to think about now.

i don't know the talk # but the most boring talk title ever had to be "who are qualified as ministers of god?".
next came "parents - are you building with fire-resistant materials".
Any of the outlines that had to do with our service, it would mean a plug to pioneer. Trying to make you feel like you weren't doing enough.

hey all, just got this email from one of the jw mailing lists i still seem to be subscribed to.... .
> these are pictures that have just been painted on the various walls of.
> our lovely assembly hall in plant city , florida .
There were at least four ugly houses in the paintings. I would think there should be more than that. I never believed we would live like this, I would miss the city, the Wal-Mart, and entertainment besides the Kidding Melodies. I need to barf.

picked up the comics off the coffee table this afternoon and "prince valient " caught my eye.. does anyone follow this comic strip?.
what's with this story line?.
too long have val....been far from camelot...... val's first business is to announce a wonderous envoy.... ...while nathan & gawain introduce nudder, bup,& ig to a group of leery knights.
I love the comics. I have been familiar with Prince Valiant since I was too little to read. My mom would read it to me and my sister. Not sure what is going on now with the weed guys. Don't remember anything like this before happening but then there have been many adventures at sea. Many narrow escapes and all kinds of mishaps with his wife, kids, and buds.
