  John Barr's wife is a sweet old lady with white hair. I met them years ago, when they came down to the cong I used to be in and worked in field circus with her. She was very persuasive with the business territory we worked. Then we did street work. I used to hate this on busy streets near where I lived. He had gone door to door with a young pioneer and got into a Trinity discussion. So he got a real taste of what the work was like outside of Bethel. He was really old then, now he is way older! I agree he seems so frail, maybe not going to make it past 2010.

  No kidding? Did I mention I just knew of him 'cause of the daughter. Willie did provide the pioneer school with coffee every morning and afternoon. Can you believe they didn't have any because of cut backs from the congregations to serve. CAN EVERYONE SAY PLEASE, SOMETHING TO HELP US TO KEEP US FROM SLEEPING IN THE AFTERNOON! Those circuit overseers that were teaching sometimes just liked the sound of their own voices. Spare me! They are all a$$holes, huh?!

  Does anyone know the Willie Tatum mentioned in the article? I went to pioneer school with his daughter in the 90's, I don't think she goes anymore. I don't remember her first name. He used to live in Herndon, VA and had a Latino grocery store. I knew he had moved his family to Florida, it gave me the creeps to be reading something about Florida and see someone's name that I knew. He was really stuck in the wt. Hope his daughter didn't go back. Also, if we had early meeting lots of us would go out to a local restaurant for food. No one ever invited anyone to their house after the memorial, it was a day off!

  i have been lurking for a while, just joined.

  nice to see there are so many others out there who feel/felt how i feel.... long story short - i was born into it, started having doubts about age 6, but what can you do when you have over controlling parents whose only goal is to make you a pioneer and ship you off to bethel so you can be like your goody-two-shoe brothers.

  suffered through my school years being bullied with no friends - parents made sure that i was very different from other kids inc how i dressed and even what i ate to the point where i was apparently known as the ugly hippie.

  Welcome, CrazyBlonde, we are all pretty crazy here ourselves. Some have been out a long time others just left or fading. I left in 2005. Glad you have taken the first steps to join in and not just continue to lurk without posting. It is good to breathe the air of freedom from the wt and start using your mind again.
