Ok, so I have been thinking about my time as a JW (I'm fading out - read my other posts for background info). You know how you always hear how the ministry will bring so much joy and contentment, yadda yadda yadda? I ALWAYS hated service...ALWAYS!! I even thought that the reason I hated it so much was because I had a bad attitude. I would pray and pray and pray that I could have a better attitude. Don't get me wrong, I have always had a desire to help people, but I felt deep down in my gut an absolute loathing for service. I hate talking to people who obviously knew more about the Bible then I did, only to try to convince them that they were wrong and I was right. I hated being in the damn heat (I live in South Mississippi) and being with a group of hard-core older sisters who don't believe in taking breaks. I hated making return visits on people who didn't give a crap about the magazines, they were just trying to get me off their backs. Now I know why I hated it so much...it was all completely bogus. JWs don't have the truth, and trying to convince people that you do is nothing but torture. People don't want you talking crap to them, and it most of the time it gets ugly....anyway, enough ranting. :) Feel free to drop me a line!!

Small joys
by heybaby inyou know how there are somethings that give you so much pleasure or joy?
it doesn't have to be anything amazing or huge, but for some reason it makes you so happy for those few moments.
some of mine are drinking coffee in the morning with my best friend at work, and the smell of an open fire (it reminds me of being a young child at my grandparents' house).

Perfection
by heybaby inthis is an excerpt from the poem "ulysses" by alfred lord tennyson.
it has so much meaning for me.....i thought i would share it.
it may be that the gulfs will wash us down: it may be we shall touch the happy isles, and see the great achilles, whom we knew.

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And see the great Achilles, whom we knew. Though much is taken, much abides; and though We are not now that strength which in the old days Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are, One equal-temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Emotionally drained
by heybaby inwe got into another "discussion" about the validity of the wts and whether or not they teach the truth....i expected that, so it wasn't a big deal.
what i didn't expect is the interesting turn that the conversation took.
we actually discussed getting a divorce.

str8: thank you for your support. I love you dearly!! jaguarbass: don't you dare make an assertion about why I got married and DO NOT imply that either myself or my husband have not been doing our share. You don't have any clue what our life is like. We both bust our asses at work and do our best to keep things running smoothly and efficiently. I pity all those who come into a relationship with a close-minded, cold, and judgmental person such as yourself. you'd fit in better with the JWs - you're certainly as shallow and judgmental as all of them.

Satanus, I don't appreciate your apparent lack of concern for the seriousness of this. It's hard to let go of something that you have built your life around for many years, no matter whether it was happy or unhappy. Such a callous disposition is somewhat disheartening.

Well, my husband and I have a very interesting conversation last night. We got into another "discussion" about the validity of the WTS and whether or not they teach the truth....I expected that, so it wasn't a big deal. What I didn't expect is the interesting turn that the conversation took. We actually discussed getting a divorce. All sorts of things started coming to light. As it turns out, it's not just the fact that I no longer believe in the WTS. My husband and I have had serious problems since the beginning of our marriage. You know that saying "sometimes people fall out of love?" Well, apparently it has happened to us. There are no longer romantic feelings between us; in fact, those feelings have been gone for a while. We agreed that we have stayed married more out of convenience than for true love. I told him that I know that I am not the person who completes him, and he agreed. He also said he knows that he is not the person who completes me. When we got married, I had just turned 18 and he was only 21. Much too young, even for "mature witness kids." Anyway, I'm not sure where we will go from here, but something big is about to happen, I can just feel it.......

Ok, so having been raised as a JW, I never celebrated my birthday. Well, I am coming up on my birthday pretty soon (I'll be 25, yay!!) and I am determined to celebrate it!!! It may not be anything huge, since I don't want to needlessly antagonize my JW husband, my I want to do at least something. Thoughts, ideas??
