Jehovah's Witness deal riles Aurora neighbors

Ok, so couple of things to look out for here:
Access is poor, and they are going to build it in a valley, sounds like someone is trying to MAKE this site work for an assembly hall. It wouldn't surprise me if the group that bought it had at least one Witness involved with it or, perhaps the facilitator of this transaction is a witness.
The reason I say this is a site was made to work here in Florida at the Daytona Beach site and there was a brother involved who got a lot of money from the sale and the site prep costs were $1,000,000 more than anticipated because this piece of swampland was selected due to this brothers involvement. There were much better sites that would have cost millions less in the purchase price as well as the poor site selection that was made by the bros. But of course it is no fault of the Watchtower and they just have to pass these costs along to the rank and file. Let's see the R&F pay for the site and improvements, then they pay to use the building, and they don't even own the building.
The other thing to consider is that if the neighborhood is smart they will ask for a park or public pool or something. The watchtower will give them something to hush their mouths if they just ask. At least they will get something out of this raw deal. Because they bring up that the facility won't be used during the week but will be used, 42 WEEKENDS PER YEAR. There are only 52 weekends a year. It will be in use when these people are trying to enjoy their weekends and let their kids play outside and go places. Imagine all of the logical traffic concerns these people have.
One good point that was brought out in the article was:
Members are expected to participate in door-to-door evangelism, a minimum of 10 hours a month, which includes distribution of the Watchtower magazine.
They are expected to go into service a MINIMUM of 10 hours a month. They are expected to place the Watchtower. That won't appeal to anyone who would be interested or firm up someone resolve to tell them to get lost when they come to the door.
I wonder if God expects a minimum of 10 hours per month, ahhh what am I thinking????

DMCA Complaint from The WatchTower for links to KS-10 'Shepherding' book
by Simon inyes, that's right, they really do not like people being able to read that book so they wanted links to it removed (it appears they have also been going after the hosts of the content itself as well).. unfortunately, i had to removed the links (which were dead anyway when i checked) and i'd ask that people don't re-post them (sorry).
i'm sure there are lots of alternative ways for those with the information to get it to those who need it.. here are the discussions on the book:.

The Society, having lost its younger generation, now appears to be doing its darndest to lose the older ones as well
by sir82 infrom all the "annual general meeting" notes floating around, one quotation stands out in particular:.
many older ones already are telling the younger ones how they regretted not getting an education, pursuing a lucrative career, saving up money or not having a retirement plan.
the sad truth is that such ones are like the murmurers of israel when coming out of egypt.. what does this remark tell us?.

I say let them keep beating! Maybe just maybe more will be awakened out of their comas. It is kind of like the slaves in the Indiana Jones: The temple of doom movie.

Did your sexual world open up after leaving?
by Momma-Tossed-Me inalthough married or otherwise attached, did you women start exploring more sexual interests after realizing the org didn't have the "troof".
for example did you want to do things that were biblicly or religiously forbidden.. i say this because to be sexually liberated after the fact with a mate or otherwise would be great and i am a guy, so it is of interest to me.. .

Karl Adams is the correct spelling, he has a brother named Joel. He is a real piece of work, I have had discussions with him before and also talked with people who have had talked with him as well.
Barbara Anderson was one of his assistants and he is the head of the writing department. He doesn't have or own a TV and looked like death on two legs 15 years ago when I knew him.
He is very smart and I believe he knows that the Watchtower Doctrine is wrong but knows his place and he keeps writing anyway, I mean what kind of job would he get if he left. He is not a very good speaker and so he keeps a low profile within the org. Not a lot of R&F people know he even exists.
I would say that he is a fairly influential head of this org, as far as fighting for the doctrine issues.

Each issue of The Watchtower is planned a year in advance by the nine-member writing committee at the Witnesses' Brooklyn headquarters, and a central theme, such a child rearing or divorce, is chosen for that month.
This was commented on by someone else, but I think the point was missed. They have claimed in the past that the GB or writing department gives such timely information related to topics that are on peoples minds.
How can this be done a year in advance. What was news worthy 12 months earlier has certainly vanished from the publics minds.
I did not know this fact, but when I think about it, it really is true. Perhaps a year from now we will finally report the decrease that has really been going on. Ah, naw this is the Watchtower what was I thinking.

What silly things have you been counselled on or simply been told off for?
by 3Mozzies inso what silly things have you been counselled on or simply been told off for?.
back in my early 20's, i had a pair of comfy old jeans that started to tear in about 3 places on the leg.
it was the fashion at the time so not only did they feel great to wear, they also looked 'in', not that i cared for that, but it was a bonus .

I like how regional God's requirements are...
This could not be a more true statement. When I went to Bethel I was suprised at how a few guys played football or basketball in high school. What?
