Jesus couldn't have said it clearer and Satan is truly at work! I haven't really posted anything since my last post about my wife and her family's influence but...MAN has s**t has hit the fan! sorry if this post will seem long to most of you, but I'm gonna try to summarize it and add detail at the same time the best way i can.
To refresh some memories, last time i posted was when my wife tried to stop me me from taking my daughter to church and her family's influence wasn't making it any better. Lets continue...
The day after i made that post, I came to the realization that, at that time, it would be impossible to take my daughter to church w/o fighting my wife over it. and the shock that she was willing to go over the "head of the household" bit to suit her needs. That next day, I told her that I was leaving and going back to PA by myself and tell my job to plan a transfer, because it wouldn't be fair for me or anyone to live in an unfair marriage. Another reason why is because I've grown tired of playing "Bible Hop-scotch" when they called themselves "trying to help me understand the Bible more". When I told her that, she got seriously furious...saying things like I'm abandoning my family and such, whereas she failed to realize she caused me to come up with that decision. Later on that day I thought about it and asked her what if I'm making the wrong decision. She did the right thing and seeked advice from 3rd parties(co-workers, friends, etc.) and admitted that what she said was wrong and i have every right to take my daughter anywhere i want to take her. Basically, we kissed and made up.
NOW! 3 weeks ago, my job site where I'm working at down here is being taken over by another company. I still have an opportunity to stay with the company but i have to transfer out of SC. I wanted to stay with the company i work now, so i talked it over with my wife about the transfer. Apparently, her job has a site in PA as well and she feels like she can make it anywhere, including getting reinstated up there -_- but nevertheless, it was going to work out for all of us, including my daughter because she has family and friends her age as well.
This is where it gets interesting. 2 days after we planned our transfers for December, my wife didn't know how to tell her mother the news because she has grown very attached to her granddaughter and it will, of course, make upset to see her leave. That night before I went to work, her mother figured it out. How? I dunno. But she did. At first she seemed cool with it. She took my daughter downstairs to put her in her playpen and she came right back up to our room. Next thing you know, she EXPLODED! At who? Me. Saying I don't care about the well being of my wife and my daughter and how i'm trying to stop her from getting reinstated, saying I'm tearing down her faith(both me AND my wife knew it wasn't true) and continues on with her rant.(mind you, while she's in front of my face insulting me and pointing fingers, i sat quietly). Next thing you know, she tears down MY faith! Talking about what churches do, what we practice, Babylon the Great, the whole nine yards. Thats when I got in her face defending my faith, playing more "Bible Hop-scotch"(which i shouldn't have done because I felt like I had to do it, and on top of that I raised my voice at her and should have kept my cool...). She went as far as pointing fingers at me, snatching the Bible out of my hand when i was trying to show her a certain verse from her own Bible, and calling me a form of Satan!(I was LOL inside my head, with a bewildered look on my face at the same time)Right before I went to work, she wanted me to leave to go back to PA that following week. That basically put a stop to ALL of our plans because we know we cant afford to look for new jobs knowing how bad the economy is and the transition at my job site begins in December. That night my wife noticed how manipulative her mom was getting and she couldn't take it anymore. So my wife and i had no choice but to look for our own place to stay down here and i had to go on with the new company and the transition.
That very same next day, we found an apartment and could move in that following week. Once again, here they come. When we came into their house and starting packing our things, my brother-in-law(my wife's oldest brother) snapped on her about going with me and what happened between me and their mom. She was ready to swing at him because he dont even know what happened, but its obvious he will side with what his mom said. Meanwhile, her father came in from work and talked to me and my wife together, saying our marriage will never work out because we're unevenly yolked and he has seen too many unevenly yolked marriages break up(which is utter bull because me & my wife know 1 Cor. 7:12-14 tells unevenly yolked couples to work it out). My wife was starting to get stressed out at the fact that her family is being manipulative and she knows their actions are not Christian like as they claim. In result of the "disorder" in their home, they told us we had to leave immediately, but offered my daughter to stay with them(WTF!?)
That weekend we were stressed out, going out of our minds because at that time we were on a serious tight budget because we had to save our money until the move-in date so we couldn't afford to stay in a hotel. Luckily, my wife has other family down here in SC as well. She has a cousin who's and inactive JW thats unevenly yolked as well. She was supposed to get D/F because of it, but the elders couldn't get to her on time. But anyways, she offered us a place to stay until we move in to our apartment. So that week, its been back and forth to work, her parents' house, and her cousins' house. Thank God gas went down when it did. :)
Til this day, we're living in our apartment thats not too far from her parents' house because they can watch our daughter over the weekend while we work 3rd shift. But it feels good that we're under nobody's influence and we can raise our family the way WE want to. It's been rough for the past 3 weeks, but I finally signed in to tell everyone one of the most unreal things i EVER had to experience. I was apart of the family, now I feel like an enemy(except to her youngest brother because he knows how his mother can get and he knew it wasnt right what they have done to us). Now that my wife recognizes how manipulative her parents are, I'm patiently waiting to see if she will feel the same way about the Watchtower Society...but that's another story.
It was obvious that me and my wife did the right thing and move out of there. The only time my wife speaks to her family is if her mother calls us, or when we drop off or pick up our daughter from there house. My wife will still remain a faithful JW and still seeking to get reinstated. I just decided to leave it alone and do my own thing until something happens or we end up sharing what the Bible says. And believe me, by gathering helpful info from all of you here on JWD, and reading my Bible independently, I know exactly where to start...just waiting for the perfect time.

The two reasons Witnesses think they are the Truth
by BonaFide ini have had several conversations over the past few years with brothers that i know that are elders, c.o.
's, and bethelites.
one thing almost all of them have said:.

Is it me or the gospel they preach is the exact opposite of what the Apostles preached in 1 Cor. 15:1-4?
1Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, -

Left with an important decision...?
by XxJazzxX inhey friends.
this will be my first serious post in a while.
just wanna know if anyone on the board has ever been in the same predicament as i'm in right now based on recent events with my d/fed jw wife and my jw in-laws.. at any way i'm not trying to sound selfish nor care about myself in any way, but my experiences of me,my daughter and my d/fed wife living under my in-laws doesnt sit well with me anymore.

Thanks guys. My wife wouldnt undermine my authority as a husband and head of the household. But when she undermines my faith that basically says the same thing. The longer I'm there, the longer I'm gonna feel like exposing their history in front of them like one big bomb. I'm just gonna work at getting ourselves together and move us back to PA.

Hey friends. This will be my first serious post in a while. Just wanna know if anyone on the board has ever been in the same predicament as I'm in right now based on recent events with my D/Fed JW wife and my JW in-laws.
At any way I'm not trying to sound selfish nor care about myself in any way, but my experiences of me,my daughter and my D/Fed wife living under my in-laws doesnt sit well with me anymore. We are currently in SC and we used to live in PA. Our financial situation has led us to live in SC with her parents because they offered the best help compared to my parents. At the same time, I'm basically exchanging my roots, lifestyle, and putting my religion to the test being around them. Mind you, I have nothing against them. They're one of the nicest bunch I've ever known in my entire life. But when it came down to religious matters, I'm basically outnumbered. Me and my wife were well aware that we wouldn't see eye-to-eye as much when it comes to the Bible, but I never thought it would get this bad to me. This doesn't bother my wife as much because from time to time she reminds me that she has to prepare herself the day I leave. How is that anyway encouraging your spouse to remain calm? Sounds like pressure to me! I remember in August when me and my wife were discussing the Bible, both her and her mother said i was 'prideful' of the 'truth' and it will get me in trouble. I thought that was all the info I need to know they claim their religion to be the 'one true religion' but that was nothing. In sept, I found a church I wanted to attend down here. Mind you, my wife already said to me that she dont want to go to Church again, but I'm always welcome to go to the Kingdom Hall with her and her family. What made matters worse was when I wanted to take me daughter with me so she can know God how I knew Him; loving, caring, and you dont need a 6 months notice to get to know him. She shockingly refused to let me take my daughter with me, saying things like "I know what they do there, and they dont worship God correctly!"
Thats when I vowed to research everything that was Watchtower and to be fair I reseatch Christianity. Comparing data with my personal experiences, I came to the conclusion and the FACT that the Watchtower are an organization that uses and supports their doctrines and fear to get around. My Born-Again Christian parents knew what JWs are about but they wanted me to see for myself. They often worry about me while I'm down here and they want me to come back to PA where I can be comfortable about my faith, and not under constant self-pressure worry.
As much as I would like to go back, the responsibility of being a parent to my daughter is on the line. If I leave, I know she will be in good hands because my wife is a good mother, but at the same time, I dont want her to grow up ignoring history and thinking that her religion is the only one that is true without fully testing it. And as a father I want to see her grow up each day.
Each day I'm constantly challenging my morality with my spirituality. I dont want to do this anymore but I dont want to leave my daughter's side. Has anyone ever been in a similar situation that I'm in now? Weather you have or not, I'm willingly accepting advice anyone has to offer.
Thank You.

Edit: She was DFed before she met me. And when she tried to get reinstated in July, she has been rejected.

Is there a breaking point for JW?
by BonaFide inin 1989, when the wt said, "the preaching work will be completed before the end of this century", i believed it.
then when they changed it in the bound volume, i was a little nervous, but i didnt say anything.. but then when i was a missionary, and i personally went to the branch office about a pedophile, and they told me to leave it in jehovah's hands, and that jehovah will erase the girl's mind and to stay out of it, that really bothered me.
i couldnt sleep.

Hey guys. Its been a while. Been busy coping with life. Although i havent logged in for some time, i've been catching up with the board(ie, its closing down soon).
But anyways, I hope there will be a breaking point for my wife. She's DFed, been rejected by the elders(and still have faith in her return), tried taking her to church, comparing her NWT to my NIV version of the bible(I should be using the KJV), even explained to her how most celebrations and holidays have pagan origin and some are accepted in the bible...unfortunately, nothing worked since shes been a JW all her life. But I have one more shot at it
If i start taking my daughter to church with me, then she will blow up. I'm risking the fact that my daughter might grow up confused, but I'd rather have my daughter tell me what she want instead of someone else choosing for her.

My Wife Has Been Rejected by the Borg....

well, just a few days ago she has been rejected.
it seems the elder's needed more time to decide.

When I first came on to the JWD, I mentioned that my wife was DF'd JW seeking reinstated. Well, just a few days ago she has been rejected. It seems the Elder's needed more time to decide. Knowing how frustrated and upset my wife seemed, and starting to see just a little bit of what they really do, she still takes up for them; saying "They're just protecting the congregation."
Hearing this just made me angry! How dare they try to make an example out of her!! Not to mention her parents arent making it any better by badgering her about what she had done in the past (which i must say is really none of their business anyways).
I'm trying to help her see the Borg for what it is, rather than attacking what doctrines they teach directly, any tips on my approach on this subject, friends?

Are We Not Made In The Image of God?
by XxJazzxX inthis is a typical question i often hear when jws debate on christ's divinity(phillipians 2:5-7).
is is me or when they say this it sounds as if they put us(imperfect, human beings) in the same catagory with the messiah(jesus)?

Misquotes from the "Reasoning Book" re: Cross (scans included)
by AlphaOmega inthe "reasoning book" claims that the 1874 edition of the imperial bible dictionary verifies the idea that jesus was crucified on a stake.
however, when you check the reference with the imperial bible dictionary, you see that it acutally is not as clear cut as that.. as usual, the infamous "..." of the watchtower has been used to edit out any opposing ideas in the source that they cite.. i know that this may have been mentioned before, but the scans of the imperial bible dictionary that are floating around the internet are from later editions, hence the page numbers are not those cited in the reasoning book.. .

They can talk about Pagen Symbols and Translations all they want. However, it doesn't change the HISTORICAL fact that the Romans crucified Jesus.
Thats definantly one of the reasons why I can't convert to a JW: You have to ignore history.

Is the preaching work one of Jesus' warnings of "great signs and wonders"?
by truthseeker inthere have been recent comments on the forum about jws saying that because they preach in all the inhabited earth, they are god's chosen organization.. when i was first fading and heard this comment, i was momentarily taken back.
what if i'm wrong?
who else is doing the preaching work?

What my wife(DFed JW) told me is the reason why they have records for field service is if a JW gets DFed and looking to get reinstated in a different congregation, and proof to the "worldly government" that they are indeed preaching the word so they cannot go to war.

Consequences of being a JW
by Regretful_J ini've been thinking about what its like to be born and raised as a jw and the mistakes that parents make as an almost direct result of this cult.
for one thing, the children are not allowed to think freely, and if they say or do one little thing their parents disapprove of, they are chastised and basically bullied into abandoning that thought or action.
another thing is that no matter what you do, and no matter how good your reputation is among friends, teachers, administrators, etc if you don't want to go to meetings, and don't believe in this faith, they do what they can to make you feel lower then dirt for this and will often resort to verbal abuse, and sometimes violence to force you to believe in them and conform.
-
XxJazzxX
I'm 50% with you on this one Regregful_J. Reason being is because I've never been a Witness before, just live with them(In-Laws). But an example of your story is my wife.
When she was young, she wanted to be "curious" about the "world" around her. Her congregation warned her about what she was doing, but in the end, someone in her congregation told the Elders about what she was doing. She confessed, then got DFed because she cant preach the word while doing what she was doing(which was basically partying and befriending those outside the congregation, and a little fornicating).
Her parents never taught her about how the "world" works because they just see it bad and they look forward to Armageddon anyway. With this being said, this is what caused my wife to see the "world" as it was without knowing what to do(such as safe sex, money management, etc.). Now she thinks that no matter what she do or where she go, it always brought her back to the "Truth"
I really find it shameful that they look forward to Armageddon, especially the way the economy is shaping up today. It makes me work of their financial situations. Most of them complain about the economy, but dont wanna take no part in politics or voting. Or they just disregard them both by looking forward to Armageddon.
