Would associating with "worldly" family members count as a double life? My wife and her family talk and hang out with family members that arent JWs all the time.

Memorial: A Superstitious Event?
by cameo-d inare the elders required to keep a lunation journal?.
it seems to me that all the focus of the moon phase and getting the "exact right time" of the day and year according to the jewish calendar very much overshadows any stories of jesus.
all this full moon fuss seems to me to be an "observance of times" which was a method of divination.. my question is this..... do jws expect something big to happen on memorial one day?

I'm attending the Memorial with my D/Fed wife this year to support her. I somewhat asked her of the same questions. Even though she claims that Jesus says "Do This in Remembrance of Him", only the anointed of the 144,000 can only take part in it. That doesnt add up to me. I've even read an old WT mag sayin that the anointed who partake in the memorial are the only true Christians. If thats true, then what are the JWs if they arent really Christians?

DF attending Memorial
by cameo-d inwhat happens if a df person attends memorial service?.
will they be treated badly?.
would they be snubbed?.

My wife is DFed and she still attends the Memorial. She asked me if I'm going a couple of days ago. As much as I want to support her, I cant support anything that's highly false.
Anyways, I'm a bit confused with the concept of who partakes in what.

JW's and not having real friends
by Iwonder17 ini have been a jw my whole life and am just realizing now that i have no friends.
the 1 or 2 good friends that i had as a child have since moved away and now i am stuck trying to make friends with people in the hall that i am in that don't want anything to do with me cuz i'm not a ms, elder or pioneer.. it's weird, because i look at facebook or other sites where people talk about their day or what they have been doing and it seems like people "in the world" have a lot of friends and have a good/happy life.. i think that the jw's are so busy with all of the wtbs stuff that they don't have the energy to take time to be friends with others.. i am sad...cuz i don't see a way to get any realy friends as too much of my family is in the "truth" and i'm stuck in it .

It was kind of weird to touch on this subject with my wife, since she had always been in touch with family outside the WT all her life. however, thougout her life, practically all her friends were in the WT until she met me. my best friends has became her best friends. my close friends became her close friends. and my associates became her associates.
Her "so-called" best friend is still in the WT. There was a convention on saturday(not sure if it was a district convention or not) and i heard she was getting baptised. My wife didnt attend for whatever reason, but she had slight guilt that she didnt go because her friend went to hers.
Im starting to see a change in my wife. She hasnt been going to the meetings lately, and shes been telling me that she dont feel like being around people, particularly her JW people.

Why do you believe in the Trinity?
by JimmyPage ini believe in god but no longer accept the wt's views.
i still find the idea of the trinity hard to accept, however, probably because of my jw upbringing.
a coworker's child died and i attended the church memorial.

The fact that Yah is, by default, the only true God. Seeing verses like Jude 4, 1 Peter 1:1, Revelation 1:7-8, and Isiah 43:10-11 convinced me.

Name Things Witnesses Do or Believe That Is Not "Scriptural"
by minimus injehovah's witnesses pride themselves in believing that they alone are picked by god, jehovah god, specifically.
they say they are not part of the world and are unlike the false religions that are mired in their traditions.
i say they are liars!

Disfellowshipping(or Disassociation) should go to the extent of either gross sexual immorality or blasphemy. However, they DF their members on trivial things such as smoking and blood transfusions.

Loosened up or Double-Life?
by XxJazzxX inas i was interested in knowing the watchtower's history, plus hearing testimonies, it would see that back in the 1950s or as far as ex-jws can remember that things were alot stricter.
meetings 5 days a week, field service is needed to stay in good standing, etc.. .
nowadays, since i hang out with one of my jw brother-in-laws, i cant help but to wonder...is today's technological generation taking its tool on the wtbts or are jws accepting it without taking the 'dangers' into consideration?

I agree...I guess even the WT cant prevent ALL the moral decay from its members.
Yea, about the liberal KH and primative KHs...I overheard a convo my wife and her mother were having about the differences between the KH they go to now between the KH they used to go to before they moved. The KH area they used to go to i guess had more class. Meaning you would even see Elders riding in new top of the line cars. Compare that to the KH they go to now is a bit more wholesome.

Nowadays, since I hang out with one of my JW brother-in-laws, I cant help but to wonder...Is today's technological generation taking its tool on the WTBTS or are JWs accepting it without taking the 'dangers' into consideration? Take these for examples...
1."Thou Shall Not Steal." Yet, young JWs are downloading music, videos & movies illegally just like the rest of the world.
2."Stay Away From Apostate Material!" Yet, the internet would be considered a HUGE deal to avoid it at all costs(especially web sites like youtube where you'll see devout JWs insulting others for their faith AND looking at the so-called 'Apostate Material' they should be avoiding)
3. You see ex-JW celebrities(Michael Jackson converts to Islam & changes name to Mikaeel) and JW celebrities who arent embracing enough JW-ism(The Williams sisters)
4. JWs, like my wife and my in-laws, havent been going into Field Service in some months & years due to work and college. I wonder if they are in good standing because the Elders doesnt say anything about it.
5. JOBS(My Father-in-law is a truck driver thinking about quitting to become a real estate agent, my mother-in-law is a LPN making good money, BOTH my brother-in-laws are in college, and my wife is a CNA going to school for Surgical Tech.
6. Marriage! I have a JW aunt who has been through 3 divorces(2 of them were non-JW, and the other were a JW, but a closet pedophile who sexually harrassed one of her sons), got DFed and re-instated TWICE, Shes about to get married to a JW guy who her sister liked(AND STILL LIKES) since childhood, practically stole the dude from her sister!
Technically, the whole "We're better than you because we have 'The Truth" attitude I dont get because from what I see, they act just like everyone else in this world. But judging from this time period and the previous ones, it looks like the Elders and the WTBTS are just either letting stuff slide or just dont care. But at the same time, they putting my wife thru hell by not re-instating her and shes practically about to give up trying.
Or could it be that JWs like my in-laws KNOW what they're not supposed to do and just doing it anyway. Or it could be a little bit of both
Any thoughts anyone...?
BONUS QUESTION: I asked my wife this but didnt get a straight answer as usual, Why the change to 2 meetings a week? If they are so adament about Armageddon, why consider making it easier for people to attend meetings?

What is the JW belief on resurrection?
by sacolton inwho is it that is going to resurrect the dead?.
1. jehovah.
2. jesus.

I've always wondered about that myself. Every soul needs a body correct? But those that are dead, they souls cease to exist. So if they get resurrected, will they get to keep their old bodies and get their souls back(that would just mean the soul IS immortal)? will they get new bodies/new souls(how will everyone reconize each other since their memories will be wiped out?)?
To me it doesnt add up. Is it a resurrection or recreation?
