Candace Conti - Consequence for Elders
by The Searcher inbodies of elders around the world will soon (tm) receive a nicely worded letter from the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, telling them that local elders are now responsible for ensuring that no perverts are allowed to be alone with any children on any kind of witness business, otherwise, the boe will be accountable to the courts - not the org!.
however, if the elders are aware that bro.
& sister oblivious sometimes ask bro.

If they could figure out a way to keep the $$$ rolling in and just change over to .org based meetings, I bet they'd do it. -

Thank you Barbara for keeping us all updated on this case. If elders are not obliged to warn, but obliged to closely supervise, then I guess we can expect more of this kind of tragedy. -

Vintage Watch Tower films
by neat blue dog inlet's see... the wts has released only very brief clips of the photo drama, a vhs quality transfer of the new world society in action on jw broadcasting, and fleeting clips from heritage and the color convention films.
heritage is available on youtube in low quality.
does anybody know of availability of other films, especially the much hyped god cannot lie?

Thank you neat blue dog for bringing this up. I've been wracking my brain for a while now, trying to remember the names of these two films (Heritage, God Cannot Lie). I was very young when they were played at the Kingdom Hall, and I remembered that one of them at least had aired on T.V. "God Cannot Lie" is listed in the IMDb as having been released in 1966. Can't seem to find much more information about it, but would love to hear what this was about from any even older-timers than me. It's just on the outskirts of my memory.

A rose by any other name..............
by sparrowdown ini'm curious, why and how did you choose your username?.
does it hold any special significance for you, is there a share-able back story?.
for me sparrowdown is a playful reference to matt 10:29 and the title of the movie black hawk down.. matt 10:29 was my go-to scrip to "prove" that god cares about us as individuals.

Said Miracle Max to Inigo Montoya, "It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive."
I was and am grateful to have escaped and still be slightly alive. I came pretty close to being all dead.

Thanks for sharing this, Terry, especially how you felt during all of it. I could so relate. It's an odd sort of inverted district convention experience—only better because it's real!

In your situation, I agree that option 2 is for the best.
However, I did have this conversation with my husband, as I didn't have the fear that he might lose his love for me and/or turn me in for apostacy. I told him that my views had changed, why they'd changed and asked how he felt about me being his Power of Attorney for health care. After several discussions, I agreed to honor his wishes (although, as On The Way Out mentioned, I meant it at the time, but I doubt very much that, if the situation actually comes up, I'll be able to carry through with that) and I changed my Advance Directive to state that my daughter would be my alternate power of attorney if my husband was unable or unwilling to serve.
I had been inactive for several years before I broached the topic with him, and it wasn't easy to do, even though I am quite secure in the relationship. I think I would postpone the conversation with your wife until much later.

Stuff You Would Lose If You Went Back
by Nosferatu inso we know all the things the wts prevents us from doing, but that's much, much different than the stuff we've grown accustomed to.. for those who have been out for a number of years, what kind of things would end up being abandoned if you suddenly started going back to the kingdom hall?
you know, stuff that you now do on the nights you used to attend meetings, the things you own, the things you wear, etc..
