My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Help.. was the 8/15/68 WT altered later?
by Norcal_Sun inhello, i am doing some research on 1975 again, and i came across this on a couple different sites:.
are we to assume from this study that the battle of armageddon will be all over by the autumn of 1975, and the long-looked-for thousand-year reign of christ will begin by then?
possibly, but we wait to see how closely the seventh thousand-year period of man's existence coincides with the sabbathlike thousand-year reign of christ.

My husband is still very much in too, in fact it seems like he's doing more now than he ever has in our 30+ year marraige. This has been bothering me a lot more lately, and I'm trying to figure out why. No flashes of insight yet about that, but in the meantime, I try to keep from dwelling on it. I've allowed myself to explore some hobbies/interests that I never did while "waiting for the new system" and use the time he's gone to meetings and service to enrich my life in other ways. We don't have a whole lot in common anymore, but we still do share a similar sense of humor which is a big thing on a day to day basis. We also have a long history and kids together. I've been out about 6 years now, and I have to say that some things are easier now, and I'm glad I didn't throw in the towel on our relationship like I felt doing a while back. There's a lot of loss and change when one mate leaves this religion. Time helps you assess what's left and what can be improved.

I love how you mention that the reality of the situation "dawned" on you after four years. Talk about the light getting brighter! It's incredible how long the tentacles of guilt and doubt can reach after we quit this organization. When you look at the situation and what really happened (adult A speaks to adult B about concerns for the safety of children in the group) you can see there was absolutely nothing to feel guilty about. Nothing real, that is. Everything you felt was due to the programming your mind was entangled in. You broke out of that and into the light! You've claimed your right to see what you see and know what you know. This is a huge step in the right direction for you!

In response to Standfirm's comment about the two witness rule.
by life is to short instandfirm told me thatl.
ife is to short,.
the jw organization says that two witnesses to separate acts of wrongdoing are acceptable for someone to be df'ed.. "if there is another witness to the same type of sin on the part of the accused, this would be basis for forming a judicial committee.

LITS, you asked about my past. All I'll say now about that is that your story has stunned me with the similarities between your experiences and those of my own and my sister's. It's almost spooky. Born-in, home schooled, sexual/physical abuse, intimidated with lies so that I wouldn't leave home, etc. etc.
It takes a long time to truly believe in your heart that they were the crazy ones. Knowing it academically is one thing, believing it with your heart and mind is something else. But you will get there. The "pop-ups" (good comparison) will come less frequently, with less power and they resolve more quickly too. Just keep working with people who are safe and who can guide you through the rough spots. It's really important to have that kind of support.
I've watched two of my sisters travel the road you're on right now. Although one of them past away before she had a chance to fully heal, I'm happy to report that the other is stronger now than she's ever been and leading a healthy, productive life (not in the organization, naturally.)
You asked if "mostlydead" had any meaning for me, and yes it does. I'm a "The Princess Bride" fan, and the reference is to a character who wasn't totally killed by an evil man who was trying to torture him to death. He's taken to the home of "Miracle Max" (that's him in the picture, played by Billy Crystal) who pronounces the hero "only mostly dead." Which is great, because he's given a miracle cure and regains his strength in the nick of time to save the princess!
And that's sort of how my experience has played out. They almost killed me, mentally, spiritually and emotionally, but not quite. I got out and got better. And I know you can too!

LITS, my heart goes out to you as you deal with this insanity. Please KNOW you're not alone. It isn't just an isolated incident in a random congregation. I agree wholeheartedly that one molester attracts more. How can a loving god stand by and watch the soul murder of innocent children and then allow them to be to condemned as unworthy of life because there's something wrong with them "spiritually"?
This can keep you tied up in knots of anger and disbelief for years. I know this from personal experience. I encourage you, if you haven't already, to seek professional help. Rage against the perpetrators and those that enable them is completely justified, but at the same time it saps your strength. They don't deserve one more breath of your energy devoted to them. As soon as you are possibly able, turn that energy to healing and learning to find yourself and the peace that was stolen from you. It's taken me many years to get to that place, and occasionally, such as when I read a story like yours, the blind fury reemerges. But we can't stay there my friend. If we do, they've won.
