Just picked up the new CD. All I can say is wow! They went back to old school sound! I'm very pleased! Best song I think is track 5, "All Nightmare Long" . Very impressed. Any thoughts out there?

Obama slip-up?
by mustang inthis is an excerpt from an email i got from a friend.. what do you think is worse, muslim or pentacostal?????????
did you see obama on one of those sunday talk shows when he slipped and said "they" are attacking my muslim faith???????
me thinks me better stick to my european (england) southern roots.... did anybody else see this tv interview?

Sorry, It's late! And you saying Russert threw me, it was with George Stephanopoulos. And I saw it live on TV...I missed the meeting that morning! And delusions? It rolled of the tongue a little to easy. Looked like he got a little rattled, and that was during a softball interview! I guess someone blocked his teleprompter!

I never felt like I deserved it. We were taught that we are tools being used for gods purpose. That being said I often thought, we're expendable, just being used. Or was that just apostate thinking?!?!?!?

Ya, I posted info on this in a Global warming thread. I was attacked and disfellowshipped as a man-made global warming non-believer. This whole topic is so dub-like. Bringing data that offers possible scenarios outside of man-made causes is like bringing proof that 607 is a false date. How dare I question the Governing Body (Al Gore)!!!!!!

I think most of that would not hold any water with die-hards. All they would point to bible examples and they would explain away all of it. they are totally brainwashed. For example the first part of your letter. "Do you honestly think a loving God would kill over 6 billion people, and spare only 6 million, because they wouldn't serve him? Would your conscience allow YOU to do that, if you were the all powerful creator? If you wouldn't have the heart to kill all those people, old men and women, babies and young children, do you honestly think a loving God would?" What instantly comes to mind is the story of the great flood. god had to wipe the earth clean. they believe that as fact and the "loving" thing to do.

Do young JWs care about the dates 1914 or 1919 anymore?
by 1914BS inthe wt mags are using the word "1914" and "1919" less often because jw teenagers today could not care less about the hard core teachings of the past.
the jw religion today is not the same religion it was even 10 years ago.

Very true, but younger ones are a reflection of their parents. If dates start changing again I believe many of the parents will start to "fall away" and the kids will follow 9 times out of 10. That's what you look for.

Ya, but really, how long can that explanation last, being a undefined period of time? From what I've seen, the R+F are looking for anything, any possible sign because we are so far past 1914. What I mean is it would not surprise one bit that some "new light" will come out saying that the "last days" really didn't start in 1914 but started at a later point in time. Meaning Christ did return in 1914 but that is not necessarily when the last days begun.

What do you feel is the reason the WTS succeeds in retaining its members?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmost of my family have been members since the early 1970's.they attend 3 meetings per week,fly or drive to summer assemblies,preach the average 10 hours per month,and read the same boring watchtower magazine week after week.
the congregation has lost nearly all the young teens,many have quit attending all the meetings,some divorced,and some members just going thru the motions.
i'm never going to question them on why they still remain members but shouldn't all the promises of "this generation never dying" make them question the wts.... just a little?

I think it a few reasons for different groups of people. For example, born-ins like me, are afraid of losing everything from family right down to friends. And from what I've see, most "new ones" are doing it for social reasons. They may outcasts with nothing out there and here is this group that on the surface takes you in.

As more and more time passes, the dates are getting more and more irrelevant. What I'm waiting for is more "new light" that will further extend the "last days" past 1914.
