  it started with the comparison of "porneia" (all sexual practices outside of marriage) being a ploy of satan, as a "lure" that a fisherman uses to catch "fish.

  " all kinds of comments were made regarding internet porn, adultery, oral sex, etc, all being a device designed to trap jehovah's people, resulting in thier spiritual demise.

  i still have commenting priveleges, so i felt it necessary to mention live bait also having a "hook.

All kinds of comments were made regarding internet porn, adultery, oral sex, etc, all being a device designed to trap Jehovah's people, resulting in thier spiritual demise. I still have commenting priveleges, so I felt it necessary to mention LIVE bait also having a "hook." I believe that. But I also believe that the vast majority of "consumption" consists of actual "food" with real substance.

  My feeling is that something good is being withheld and that Witnesses tend to dramatise and overstate the dangers that lurk where our natural inclinations take us. Don't get me wrong...I'm married and that's that, but DEADEN my body members???

  Maybe I'm disqualified from the discussion because, well, because I still hope to recover my sex life WITH my lovely wife. Balaam sought to entice the nation of Isreal by getting them to indulge themselves with foreign women, incurring God's wrath, and it worked, resulting in something like 23,000 deaths among them.

  This "study" bothered me. Not because I'm into porn, but because it seemed to condemn all sexual activity.

  I guess that's why my wife is in bed and I'm here punching the keyboard. She's a good girl.

  it occurred to me that lying to an elder might be OK if they have shown that they aren't worthy of it. They may have shown no interest at all in one's spiritual health, but if the opportunity arises to beat one down, they are on the job!

  no doorbells either...local community group i joined recently had it planned....very social coffee beforehand....good excerise...and made four friends......plus the road looks a lot better......... kinda pathetic this is my first ever real volunteer work that counts............but it is a start.........oompa.

  Why did God Save Noah From the Flood? What purpose did it serve?

  was the flood the real armageddon, gods war?

  if he promised not to bring the earth to ruin with a flood why would he use another means instead?

  that would be like killing someone with a gun and then promiing to never kill again with a gun and instead using a knife.

  so we are watchin new christine and there are several child birth scenes of agony......and i tell my wife to be glad she never had to go through that.....she agrees............and i say..."why the hey did god have to make that so awfully painful?".............

  she says "he did not".......i. i say "oh ya he did.".....

  she says "not originally"...... i say "and then he did!".........

  as a sidenote, my daughter married a good man, out of the truth. She seems happy and well adjusted and I applaud her survival.

  amen and amen again. I've had a daughter who was molested by an elder, who was protected by other elders to the extent that I, the father, was not fully informed as to the specific details. I was told that he had "impure thoughts" while my daughter was in his (and his wife's) care. I think the elders were concerned that I might knock his head off. I think they were right. But that would have been MY problem and it wasn't their place to decide.

  I'm no stranger to the problem. That "brother" was pathological and methodical. I could have given him something he wouldn't have forgotten so quickly...

  My point is that all of us are prone to oversimplify and categorize and bang our ever-so-wise gavels and shout "Guilty as charged!" at the first hint of impropriety in this area. Actually, to thier credit, the WT Society seems to be doing this these days, in the "big picture," regardless of what some posters here seem to think. Sure, there are still ongoing complaints, no doubt most of them valid. But there are nut jobs who would like nothing better than to cause trouble for somebody they don't like (surprised that there might be a nut job in a congregation of JW'S?) and they just hint to some ignorant elder that somebody molested a child!

  It's possible for a person to be very seriously wronged, but nobody will apologise because collateral damage is acceptable to us in our zeal, isn't it?

  The things that the WTS does right, to correct, don't come even CLOSE to actually making things right.

  no, I do not suggest that the two-witness deal is the decisive factor for elders. It seems that the mere SUGGESTION of two VICTIMS would warrant serious inquiry, and notification of proper authorities. But an accusation from out of nowhere, while serious, shouldn't serve to ruin a person's life!

  And I certainly agree with jamiebowers that elders aren't qualified to determine anything! They have thier own game plan and will believe what they WANT to believe. I just hate seeing the same thing here.
