Online. I was feeling brave one night and sent him an IM after reading his profile. We talked and emailed for 2 weeks before we went on our first date. I think I was falling for him before I even saw him for the first time. It took him a lot longer to fall in love with me, but that is just his personality. He is very careful and cautious. We have been married now for 2 years and we're still crazy about each other.

Are YOU a Better Person Now That You're Out of the Organization?
by minimus inthey say that you're like a dog returning to its own vomit.
do you think that you're a better person now than you were as a witness?

I'm much happier and MUCH more open minded.......so yes, I'm a better person now.

The extent of child molestation and resulting cover-ups. I had no idea. Also, just how much worse some peoples stories are than my own. I didn't have it nearly as bad as some of you all.

My JW mother used to never believe in mental illness, at least not if you were a JW. She didn't believe if you were doing enough in the field service, praying and going to meetings that is was possible to be mentally ill. All you had to do if you were feeling down was more more more JW crap! My older sister had post partum depression and missed many meetings because of it. My mom used to tell her she would feel better if she just came to the meetings and recieved the holy spirit. For some reason, she has now changed her opinion somewhat. I don't know why, unless there was "new light". Seems like it is more than acceptalbe now.

U.S. Auto Industry deserves the grave they dug for themselves
by drew sagan ini don't know how the folks here feel about u.s. automakers (aka the 'big three').
nevertheless, right now there is a 'bailout' on the table for these folks who seem to have run what were potentially viable companies right into the toilet.
there is an article over at boing boing that i just had to share.

I don't neccessarily think the DESERVE a bail out but the millions of people who will be gravely affected by them going under certainly do. Think of the big picture and you might change your mind. It is so important for them to not fail that Canada has even mentioned helping the US with the bail out. There will be DIRE consequences to the economy if the big three go down.
The main thing they need to do is figure out what they are doing wrong and fix it. They should ask themselves why Toyota and Honda have such better vehicles.

Ok people! Have any of you checked out this girls age? She's only 18 years old!! I read her past posts and it sounds like she's being fed just enough info from dear old Granny to be dangerous.
Hikaru-
Please know that I say this with sincerity. Your fears are unfounded and false. Please stop listening to your JW grandmother and know that you are the exact kind of person this religion preys upon. They prey upon fear. Do you hear me?? They bank on members of their cult to be afraid just like you are, so that they will continue to do the Societies bidding. DON'T WORRY. Armegeddon is not coming. The economy has been worse than this before and the weather too. The best thing for you to do is extricate yourself from this religion in every way. You will be a nervous wreck if you don't. I think you already have tendencies toward this anyway. I have a son your age, so I'm willing to give you a bit of a break here.

Can fader's ever get off the pot, so to speak?
by dinah inthey seem afraid of what they would lose.. can you not see what you would gain?
most of us born-ins lost our first loves at the hands of the wt.. why live a lie?
don't it eat you up?

I can totally see why some people prefer to fade. It almost always has to do with keeping the relationships with JW family and/or friends. The family part I can see...not so much the friends. I do feel sorry for the faders tho. It must be horrible to sit through meetings and listen to that BS and knowing you have to do it or your family will shun you. If they fade long enough I suppose they will eventually get off the pot and it won't be a complete shock. Thus, the beauty of fading.
