I have read most of this thread. I see a lot of name calling and insults and find it uncalled for. Why not just discuss the topic? I have seen many good thoughts on both sides and also disagree on many points.. I remember reading Darwin Origin of Species years ago ant thought that if Darwin was alive today he would not believe it anymore as the results of his expectations did not occur. This was mentioned several times. He also said that someone could interpret his research either way (prove evolution or creation) and both viewpoint would be reasonable. Sorry I don't have the book anymore or my notes or I would scan the appropriate pages for you.

What is the JW view on working for the defense dept?

my wife is very used to the relatively comfortable lifestyle we presently have, so how would a question like this go over:.

"i understand that the jws are very opposed to the military and military service....since i presently work for the department of defense, how is my employment viewed by god (or would i need to change jobs to become a jw?)?.

any thoughts?

of course u would, a jw cant even clean the barracks out u would have to quit or get df'ed unless they changed it in last few years

If a catholic clergy did something oppressive the WT would say see they are wolves. if an elder does it they say even elders make mistakes, forgive them. There are so many accounts of this type of thing here on JWD and other site that the 77X is done out. It is just a well worn out excuse.

Why would you want to serve Jehovah?

for all of you you believe in the watchtower doctrine i have a few honest and important (in my opinion) question you should ask yourselves.. why serve a god like jehovah?

you may find that question to be out of your comfort zone but i think it's important to examine the wt vision of the god you accept as real.

What does Jehovah expects from you? Total obedience to the ones that call themselves the faithful and discrete slave. Is this reasonable? No. Why not? They are men. Ordinary humans like you and me. Power corrupts The slogan of every Judea christian religion should be love god or he will f*&ing kill you.(or torture you for eternity) Good comments anti- Remember Psalm 146 Do not put your trust in nobles or the son of earthling man ... Are the GB's not men? And 1john3 or something God is love he the the very embodiment and personification of love God loves you so much that he is going to kill you if you dont do what the WT says. Get your head around that one!

Just had jw elder at door and he wouldn't leave when i asked him to! lol

i am so laughing my head off and want to thank jwd for giving me the strength to leave the jws and for standing up to them (i am a quiet mouse usually!).

the jws next door had the field service meeting and i told hubby(inactive ) that they'd gone so he could cut the grass, but i was wrong and as soon as he went out they all piled out of the house lol!they tried to say hello but he shunned them as he hates the way they ignore me (d'ad) esp his family.

then while he was talking to our other neighbour i saw his step father (who is a big bully and called me a murderer when i said i wasnt sure if i wanted to be a jw anymoreand my kids would be killed because of me which really hurt me) so he arranged to work our road i know just so he can get hold of hubby.. anyway hubby was hiding in the house and tried to make me see them (again) but i made him do it, hoping he'd just tell them hes not interested.

I always thought I ought to give a better deal to any of the bros or at least equal. some of them seemed to think ok you are my bro so I'll screw you. after all don't complain or it will bring reproach on Jehovah. In my old cong they would say "oh another Jones ripoff"* * name changed to protect the guilty. lol
