We had YHWH but in Hebrew- in the hopes that only dubs would know us.

I know it's hard to watch hypocrisy, but those still active are in a tough spot.
Everybody draws the line in different places. For 13 years I attended every single meeting with my family. I seldom commented. I personally couldn't do the door-to-door thing, but I sang up a storm during each song! I was aware how hypocritical it was to sing those crap lyrics, but it didn't bother me enough to lead me to stop and it helped to dissuade others from labeling me as an unbeliever.
I was able to weather it out and my oldest child is now out! Yay! I'm still underground till my youngest is old enough. -

shock breakthrough with my wife
by stillajwexelder inso my wife out of the blue says .
"i thought when we went under ban, everyone would still meet in peoples houses at the the book groups.
now they are doing away with that arrangement, what does it all mean.?

Rebel8 sez: We set up telephone chains--everyone would have only one person to call for important notices--this way if one of the homes was raided or an unbelieving mate got a hold of the phone list, only one would be found--yet everyone would hear the same message. We used snow cancellations as practice drills. Also we reviewed hiding areas in the host home to know where to put literature.
Yes Rebel8, I remember! In the late 60s, early 70s they told me to memorize where everyone in my book study lived. That I was to go to the book study house, etc.
And we buried large tins of Watchtowers and other lit in our back yard. LOL, we've sold the house- wonder what the new owners will think when they start rototilling! ;)

Post your percentage opinion: How many JWs REALLY . . .?
by AuldSoul inour kingdom ministry, april 1992, p. 4, par.
7. keep spiritually strong, stay clean for jehovahs service.
7 the benefits of these meetings are multiplied when they are combined with good habits of personal and family study.

Auld Soul,
I don't know... I think you're off base with your estimate. Mine would be more like 3% max! If you consider quality- actually reading and trying to understand, 'meditating' as they call it- I'd drop it to 1%. Everyone I knew who did the bible reading read it through really fast, and underlined the answers without any 'study' at all.
Course I can't blame them. We used to have group WT preps at our house that were really fun- with young ppl in the hall- because we enjoyed research and deeply discussing how it applied. But it took 3 or 4 hours to get through the WT!!
Again, they try to keep you so busy 'studying' that you don't have time to really study. -

If the Internet wasn't around, what direction would your life have taken?
by truthseeker ini sometimes think about what would have happened if the web hadn't been invented yet.
would i have ever learnt the truth about "the truth"?
have you ever wondered this?.

The scales on my eyes fell off in 1987, before I was really on the internet. But I thought I was the only underground dub in the whole organization!! It really would have helped me adapt if I had been part of a community. I felt so incredibly, unbelievably alone.

The tipping point
by JeffT infrom wikipedia: "the term tipping point describes a point at which a slow gradual change becomes irreversible and then proceeds with gathering pace.
it is derived from the metaphor of a rigid solid object being tilted to a point where it begins to topple.".
has the watchtower reached such a point?

I think the YouTube vids will have a huge impact. I've noticed the 'bros' are posting their own vids there (of assemblies and such), and it will be too tempting not to click on at least one 'Related Video' on the side bar.

So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Freedom!
by easyreader1970 inlast night i was sitting in the service meeting listening to a brother read the announcements.
one main part of the announcements was to read part of the km that had to do with the upcoming two day circuit assembly (ours is next month ... even though we just had the district convention last month ... geez).
the km article talked about how the circuit assembly would warn us against satan's new tools--the internet, education, and entertainment.

Wouldn't you just love to send anonymous things to this guy- like a CoC book or at least the URls to this forum! I often wanted to do that when I was underground and going to every meeting.
