I would imagine that, before too long, more 'new' magazines, tracts, whatever...will be there...
Printed out at the 'publishers' expense...

What could Jw church do to enhance their shunning regime?
by Chook inif they controlled a nation they would stone their kids to death , which seems harsh but its nothing compared to the solitary confinement they emotionally and physically bestow on their own children.
i think they have ticked every box as to the rejection of their children except killing them, they leave that for god ..

Even that last part they leave to God...begrudgingly.
They're screwing themselves, though it will take a long time to bear itself out.
So we know that the majority of kids raised in the cult eventually leave (I've heard anywhere from 2/3 to 80% - but the precise number doesn't matter, only that it's LARGE!)
Many dubs have meager educations, meager careers, meager earnings, and therefore meager retirement.
It'd be a real shame if the State wasn't up to the task in taking care of elderly dubs in their golden years. Further shame if these very same needy folks done chased away most of their progeny, on account of a hokey religious cult, after all...
...and spent their old age alone and in poverty of both coin and spirit...
This is the hand the JW religion is dealing out to it's strident believers.
I suppose they could further narrow the definition of 'necessary family business'...and enthusiastically enforce it. But I suppose there might be a natural limit to this approach, because it may hit home for too many families of elders and therefore be unenforceable beyond that which is done, now... -

Just need to vent a little
by Phoebe inin the last week i have had three visits from brothers.
so 6 witnesses in all as they come in pairs.
now considering i used to go to the meetings, sit by myself and literally no one talked to me - ever - why the concern all of a sudden?.

This will ultimately be a test of your will and endurance.
If you can weather the discomfort in the short term, you will outlast them. Their 'concern' for you will prove remarkably short-lived, especially if you don't throw them a bone by expressing any interest in the religion.
If you are trying to maintain relationships with believing JWs at the same time...now that could be working against you, because you would be continuously exposing yourself to their agenda.
If someone offends you in your own home, telling them so may have a chilling effect. -

custody orders, proving to the court why my daughters should be baptized at 18. JW OR NOT
by Gokumonkey inhello everyone ive been posting about this situation about my daughters and their jw mom so if u want to get a back story about whats going on you can check out my previous posts.. note- daughters are only 5 months old, and i live in the united states.. right now im typing up my court orders to present to the court but ive come to a road block.
i want to add reasons to why its not a good idea to have my daughters be baptized at a young age.. here is my rough draft -.
"age appropriate baptism – i wish that my daughters to be baptized at the legal age of 18 years old.

The longer you can hold off your kids from getting baptized the better. Statistics are on your side after that as 2/3 born into the religion will not remain as adults.
Good comment, here! The teenage JW life is so intolerably stifling and oppressive. Even if raised in the vicinity of JWs, the girls will observe their JW peers being miserable. Meanwhile, they will have an 'out' when asked why they're not baptized ('my father's strict command').
Those unbaptized teenage years are often sufficient to demonstrate to a person that they want nothing at all to do with this cult. And if they remain unbaptized, they can walk without the full repercussions. -

Imagine If The World Was Ruled By Just One Government/Kingdom
by Brokeback Watchtower infirst off to go would be information deemed unfit for heavily indoctrinated subjects.
no rival governments less freedom granted by existing ruler, just cogs in a huge fucking wheel would humans become.. no appealing to the masses of the benefits of their government and the horrors of the opposition.
they are all this generation knows.

No need for a huge army - but be guaranteed that one would nevertheless exist to stamp out dissent and enforce the will of the state,

Yes. Good thought experiment!
I would also predict a largely dysgenic effect. As humans are conditioned to abandon the use their higher, abstract powers of reasoning, I expect those abilities would wane as generations pass.

My return to the WT...a terrible mistake
by JustHuman14 ini haven't posted for quite a bit, decided to share my thoughts on this one, so it is a reference topic for anyone who decides to return back to the org, knowing all about the tatt.
being way for quite long for almost 15 years and all wt's activities, i have missed quite a lot including the "new light" latest updates, i found it quite hard to follow up what was going on to the meetings.
new songs, wt broadcast, videos, internet (so wt now is in favor of the internet) cartoons, and everything seemed completely new and weird to me.. reason for going back it was the severe pressure from close family members to return back to the "truth".

I appreciate you taking the time to write all of this...
You never know when your story will hit the eyes of someone else in a vulnerable position...
All you can do, really, is what is right for you in your own particular place and time...
You mentioned your mother, and how difficult the striking of the balance can be, when your own heart isn't in it, because you simply don't believe anymore...
I wish that I, or someone else here, could simply offer to you the correct steps forward, and that you could proceed from there...
Things here aren't so easy, are they? You seem to be wearing thin from proximity to the JW life...and I understand this well. You see, the JW life taxes your soul, your conscience...and even moreso once you wake up and admit to yourself and others that you simply DON'T BELIEVE...
And as empty as that is, it spells out why such a life is simply not worth it.
Please try, for your own sake, as well as others...to take it all in stride. Sudden moves will have lasting effects that your may later regret. Move toward your goal of fading slowly, and steadily.
Come back here often, for information, or just for support on your journey! We're rooting for you! -

It isn't too hard to see why nations that attempt to implement Marxism have deplorable human rights records....
Property begins with ownership of self. Remove the simple premise that a person owns themselves and all manner of atrocities are justifiable.
Claims of 'common good' don't often bear the scrutiny of just how 'common' the supposed 'good' is. -

In his analysis of the movement of history, Marx predicted the breakdown of capitalism, and the establishment in time of a communist society in which class-based human conflict would be overcome. The means of production would be held in the common ownership and used for the common good. In the mention of "human liberation" one should not neglect that, in the level of production, solely the working class is the most oppressed. But either way in the prediction of the future, one shall first know of the past (i.e. the establishment of capitalism and the transitional part of feudalism).
Well, then the historical record finds Marx to be fantastically wrong. Communist societies, instead of eliminating class-based conflict, ensconced it, and perpetuated it. The upper class being those connected to the powers and levers of government, and the lower class being: everyone else.
What's with the reliance on these very bull-crappy imprecise terms like 'common-good'? This is subjective, and probably very intentionally so, since the only definition that matters is the one wielded by those in power. -

UK Terrorists attacks
by Phoebe ini don't know if anyone has talked about this yet, forgive me if they have.
but i am just so, so sad that yet more innocent lives have been so brutally taken.
we've now had three attacks in three months and there has been countless terror attacks stopped by the police.. my jw acquaintances see these attacks as proof the end is near.

Well, there's hope that people entertain while sitting on their hands, taking no assertive positive action, and merely wishing for a magical turn of events...
And then, there's hope based on sensible theory, rational actions toward a desired objective, and periodic evaluation along the way, to see if the actions are bringing progress toward the goal.
I am about out of 'hope' in any fashion. We are this far in the hole, and cannot even glean a meaningful consensus that there is a real problem which ought to be addressed.
I do think that somewhere down the line, as the bodies pile up, we may approach such a consensus. but only after much more needless violence and death will nature's survival instincts guide our decisions.
