hmm.... could've been fun camo.. dont knock what you haven't tried..
too many JW rules and regs...you get wound up, and then suddenly get cold water in your face.
"hey, are you sure it's OK to do it in this position?"
"well, I don't really know. I mean I never heard anybody say you couldn't do it this way. Maybe we should phone the CO and ask first. I wouldn't want to loose my princely position that I have been in training for all these years..."

AUTUMN
by compound complex intoday's sky is no brilliant blue but a soggy blanket of dull gray.
its lofty drabness has acquiesced to the terrestrial, allowing the fall colors of the landscape to explode and bleed upward, outward, into the chill air.
a copse of scrub oak adorns a knoll set amidst the newly greening pasture land.

What Did You Expect to Do During the 1,000 Years?
by Ding infor those who were jws, what did you expect to do during the 1,000 year reign?.
since only loyal jws would survive armageddon, it seemed to me that field service and tms would be eliminated.. so what did you expect to do with your time, besides getting rid of the dead bodies and petting lions?.

Larsinger...that was an enjoyable read. You were spot on with the idea that heaven is for the bohemian types.
Your diatribe reminded me of a conversation my JW friend once had with a guy from Cuba. I could see that the more the JW kept going on about what the new system would be like that the guy was getting irritated. Finally the guy said "What you are describing is what I fought to get out of. You're talking about Communism!"

cameo-d: Do you think the DNA tests described in the wikipedia page was a hoax?
The information on the wiki page is nothing at all like the information being presented in the video. The page in wiki sounds much more realistic to me.

Lots of good advice here. Tec says let them know the bad stuff straight up---the shunning and disfellowshipping. Also let them know that they have to ask all their questions before they are baptized because after they agree to the questions, they agree to accept whatever WT tells them without question or hesitation.
Cyber says keep talking to them and stressing the importance of research and reasoning...and asking questions. I think you could develop a real friendship if you are honest with them and you are all searching instead of you playing the part of the "religious expert" who is there to convert them.
Be true to yourself. And do no harm to others. And if you quit on these folks, the hall will send someone else to finish the job. Best to stay with them and help them develop their critical minds. Hell, if you don't want to talk about WT, change the subject and make small talk for the duration. Show a genuine interest in them instead of WT literature. Be a friend.

So, bohm, you think this might be a hoax? I am wondering the same thing. Let's consider the "researcher".
Pye was born in Houma, Louisiana, where he earned a football scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans. After graduating in 1968 with a B.S. in psychology, he joined the U.S. Army as a military intelligence specialist.
Guys that get in on a football scholarship are always about the game and I never met a player that ever had any real book smarts. These guys get "passed" in school whether they can read or not. Why? Because a team looks good for the school. A good team makes money for the school. And the cheerleaders are always willing to do their homework for them.
Now...we have something strange. "psychology" and "military intelligence"....one would almost wonder if this "star child" thing is a psych-ops.

For Those of You who Believe in Heaven...
by dssynergy ini'm a 5th generation jw - and i have to admit a lot of it doesn't make sense to me.. question: if when a person dies, they go to heaven, what is the point?
question: if jesus is a perfect competent ruler, why would he need "assistants"?
discuss.

TheListener: " follow it's advice but the promises therein are not for them - that is also why they can state Christ is not the great crowd's mediator - the great crowd aren't in the covenant. "
I don't know exactly what "promises" you are referring to....
But the reason Christ is not the mediator for the JWs is because the JWs are relying on man's rule and are allowing the FDS and GB to be their mediators. Until they "wash their robes" of man's rule/WT rule, they will not be free to be among the others who have the mediation of Christ.

Those who "go to heaven"....you ask "Why? what's the point?" That is a very good question.
The reason is to be among those who have similar temperament and like-mindedness. Not hive mind, but a mind of like values and morals. Hive mind is forced and blind obedience. Like mind is different and allows for individuality.
Didn't you notice in school how the different classes in elementary were made up of all the really smart kids in one class, and the not so smart kids in other classes? Kids were segregated according to their potential, their track record and their behavior. There is also a similar order in nature. Those who are ready to leave will be among those you call "the heavenlies".
Others will stay in this realm for the new beginning here, the "paradise" if you will. Those who are really evil and incorrigible will be quarrantined away from this planet so that the humans who want to stay here will be able to have a more peaceful existence. Those who continue on the earth will also be segregated into their like groups. (Water seeks its own level). There will be an inner circle or "inner court" as it is referred to in Revelation as the "new Jerusalem". Many here will still have lessons to learn before they are admitted into the higher earthly realms.
In this new order, the higher earthly realms will all be dependent upon spiritual advancements and works, appreciation and understanding of the creation; there will be no more lies, no more politics, no more abusive religions, no agenda to divide people. When those outside the circle become more civilized and reasoning they will gradually attain admittance into higher groups when they prove themselves. No one will be held back by the things that bind us today. There will be teachers from the inner courts that go out among them in order to raise their consciousness.
