i've seen this movie a few times and recently read the book.
then i watched the movie again.
the author of the book, john grisham, paints a pretty accurate picture of "the firm" as a business cult.
I liked the way you summed that up.
It is disturbing to see cult activity as a "business" but it is certainly all around us!
Realizing this helps us to understand why there is no justice in the world.
Maybe this movie was just a hint to people to wake up and realize truth and principle aren't victorious on its own merits. Many things are staged by others who owe favors or are obligated and has nothing to do with righteous principle.
here are a few things that were said that seemed kind of dubious to me.
(i had a meeting with 2 women that came to the door - full story in the thread "i received the knock...").
they baptize in the name of the father, son and holy spirit.
I know a ministerial servant who says "God Bless you", he's seventy something and forgets that we're not supposed to bless people like that.
Do you know the exact rule on that? Is it because blessings were done in blood or something like that?

Anyone who does not accept basic christian doctrine like: God is good; we are "saved" because of a death ritual; the drinking of blood/wine communion as evidence we go along with the orders of a blood thirsty god;and we will do whatever our religion tells us is necessary to serve this absentee god...... if we disagree, then we become the antichrist?
Well, to me, if that's what it means, I can't see where antichrist is a bad thing to be.
But really, it seems to me like THEY are the anti-christ.
So when the bible speaks of antichrist...is it really talking about us or them?

I was just thinking since "christianity" has already been so wrong so so many things... that maybe there is something to refute this 3.5 time frame that everyone seems to believe.

Yeah, I would like to know that too. Do they go along with the 3.5 or do they have some different idea? Notice I said "idea" because I would expect it to be one of their "going beyond scripture". Unless of course, they have a convuluted scripture for it.

i was out hiking in the woods of northern california in the late 80's with a good friend.
