I think the worst threat is that the thugs show up to undermine your household structure.
If the UBM is the man of the house, he will soon find that his wife has been brow beaten and that she will answer to the elders as her headship---not him! She will be reproved if Jehovah's direct instructions from them do not come before his 'worldly' needs. Forget socializing, extracurricular activities...there won't be any time. He'll be lucky to get dinner. She will be coerced to do more and be at every meeting---with or with out you. She will be expected to work extra hard to show her loyalty to the org.
Basically the home visits are to make you aware that you are going to be powerless and that they will do their best to come between the two of you. They will be the men who "put asunder".
And if the wife is the unbelieving mate, your husband will be shamed for his weakness and lack of authority to "control" you. He will be disciplined for not being "strong enough in Jehovah" to lead his family. If they are domineering enough, they will attempt to emasculate him in every way. He may show his frustration by starting to be bossy in other ways--witholding affection, telling you what you can and cannot wear, do, say, etc.
Visits are never a good thing.
