The Bible is NOT Error-Free
by FusionTheism infor many christians, the bible is viewed as the 100% error-free, perfect book straight from god, where every single word was carefully chosen by god for a reason.
but, usually, when you have a discussion on the topic, these christians will end up saying that only the original copies written directly from the hands of the prophets and apostles were error-free, and all manuscript copies since then are subject to copyist mistakes and other errors.. since zero original copies are in existence, how do we know the originals were error-free?
why should we think the originals should be error-free to begin with?

You don't get to say what is logical, inspired or not, whatever it suits your needs. You have to peak a side. It's one or the other. You should dump whatever holly book you are clinging to become their is not a holly book in the world that make any kind of sense without first subscribing to illogical thinking in order to make your book possible.Look at your book, you will find passages about the killing of homosexuals, genocide and wearing lining and wool together. Or your dog sending a she bear to kill children.Take care,Ismael -

Problems with Common Atheist Arguments
by FusionTheism inthe reason i entitled this "problems with common atheist arguments" instead of "the case against atheism" is that many atheists claim that atheism is not a belief system, makes no claims, and has no requirements to follow, so there's no way to argue against atheism itself.
i will go along with this idea, and argue against the most frequently used arguments of atheists instead of atheism itself.disclaimer # 1: this is not an argument against atheism or all atheists.
no, rather this is an argument against the most frequently used claims and arguments made by the atheists i speak to on twitter.

Do you have evidence?

God does exist here is my nonbiblical reason:
by Curious Kitten in(before you read i hope no one gets offended by the word retarted...that s how i thought when i was 13)my mom and dad are divorced and my father never helped my mother on raising us, so basically she was a single-mother.
he just abandoned my three brothers and me and my mother had to work two jobs all of the time so we never got to see her.
when we did see her it was after school, but all she did was yell at us, make food, and leave to her next job.

And your Logical Fallacy is:Anecdotal.Relying on memories or imagination when judging the probability of events may have worked well for our ancestors, but in the modern world we are exposed to vivid vicarious experiences. From the web;The expression anecdotal evidence refers to evidence from anecdotes. Because of the small sample, there is a larger chance that it may be unreliable due to cherry-picked or otherwise non-representative samples of typical cases. Anecdotal evidence is considered dubious support of a generalized claim; it is, however, perfectly acceptable for claims regarding a particular instance. Anecdotal evidence is no more than a type description (i.e., short narrative), and is often confused in discussions with its weight, or other considerations, as to the purpose(s) for which it is used. This is true regardless of the veracity of individual claims.Turns out that your "reason" for the existence of a deity, is not reason at all.Ismael -

When does God intervene in the affairs of mankind?
by abiather inthough many sages have tried to describe god and his purpose, the best they could do was to declare neti, neti (not this, not this).
to the question of god, even buddha responded with silence!
jesus declared: truth will set you free but did not say what that truth is!

"Yet it conceals the frustration that God will never intervene in the affairs of mankind. He will at the appropriate time." -Then, why the slave mentality?Your input it just another interpretation. Stop making excuses. You just probed that your damn dog is a very bad communicatorIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?— Epicurus, philosopher (c. 341-270 BCE)Ismael -

Whom can we trust? Where can we turn to for protection?
by abiather inthough we can easily dismiss many of jws teachings on many counts, the sad part is that we do not have any alternative.
1) 1) though some of the things bible said may have gone wrong (most of which would not even touch our day-to-day lives), the worst thing it foretold (which very much affects our day-today-lives) has come true: people will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world.

do other religions change doctrines like the wt society does?
by sowhatnow ini just wondered.
i mean ok, the catholic church seems to make 'adjustments' more or less , by accepting previously held prejudices.
against certain things, like gays, or birth control, or rather tolerate it more, but is that a genuine change of doctrine?.

"Don't want to hijack the thread but I feel I should answer a few of these questions...." - little
Stop making excuses, every single religion is man made and deities were created by humans. That's pathetic. The OP asked if churches made changes over the years. The answer is YES. The rcc have chance doctrines like any other church through history like any other church. The thing is that they had a hell of a head-start to cover their tracks.
Athanasian Creed (ca. 400 AD):
"Whoever wishes to be saved, needs above all to hold the Catholic faith; unless each one preserves this whole and entire, he will without a doubt perish in eternity. . . This is the Catholic faith' unless everyone believes this faithfully and firmly, he cannot be saved." (Denzinger 39, 30)
Do some research about religion and the rcc, you'll be surprise.

"As a Catholic let me clarify insidetheKH comments. I don't think the Catholic Church has ever changed doctrin." - little
Every religion have to evolve and adapt if they want to survive. Officially, before Vatican 2 in 1965 AD, all non-Catholic churchgoers will go to HELL! Today it is different!
Sign of the cross not practiced by apostles but started in 9th century! Tertullian made the sign on the forehead. Today it is different!
53 Roman Catholic Doctrines not found in the Bible (1400 years of doctrinal evolution) Marriage to non-Catholics was invalid until 1818 AD.
Eucharist: Withholding the communion cup from the laity began in 1416 AD. Eucharist: Frequency of communion changed from weekly to daily in 500 AD.
Baptism changed from immersion to sprinkling in 1311 AD. No infant baptism till 4th century.
No Pope was considered infallible until 1870 AD
They have to change, adapt or face extinction.
