  A new start? Watchtower renaming at HQ Columbia Heights

  friends,.

  who was in any doubt that our jw believe is a marketing model, see this pictures of the still existing hq of jw at columbia heights.. earlier comments on jwn that something is going to change in the organisation, these comments are true.. in a few years we will not talk about the watchtower society, we wil talk about jw.org.

  i think the current leadership will make a transfer to a new start.

  Could there really be something to the UFO phenomena? Amazing documentary

  it's easy to just poo-poo the ufo thing, especially if you're naturally very skeptical after your jw experience as i am, but when you see documentary's like this it seems undeniable that some kind of inexplicable phenomenon is occuring.

  .

  could vehement deniars of the ufo phenomenon please suspend their criticisms until they've at least watched the whole documentary, to be fair to others who are more open-minded on this subject.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjismjxshpg.

  E=mc2 tells us that a little bit of mass equals a lot of energy. With means adding energy, to move forward, increases its mass. So the faster the traveler go, the more energy the object gains, and the more massive it becomes (this means traveler, ship and crew). The only way to make something infinitely massive go faster is to use an infinite amount of energy. And there isn't enough energy in the entire universe to move even a single atom past this threshold. (As far as I know)

  Now, we have another problem. Even though light can make the trip from here to the Sun in just eight minutes, on the scale of the universe that distance is absolutely nothing. Getting to Alpha Centauri, (is the closest star system to our own solar system) will take that traveler more than four years, going 300,000 kilometers a second.

  Then, their is time. Time will always seem to pass at the same rate for the traveler, but to an outside observer, like everyone here on Earth, time will appear to slow the faster the traveler go. So, figuring that this traveler expend a year or two at Alpha Centauri Bb to get anything done, that approximately two decade-long round trip for the traveler POV could easily mean 40-50 or more years of time here on Earth (give or take a few years). And that will be, traveling at half the speed of light.

  What I am trying to say is that even if we go out there, or they come here to us, it's a ONE WAY trip. By the time someone make it back, Knowledge and skills will be outdated. Technology will be obsolete.

  ...and granted me strength, friends, a job, whatever...was all either through my own effort alone or sheer luck.. i wanted a government job so i prayed for one and went out looking for one every day for ages and made a heap of applications...and got one.

  my own effort.. i wanted a friend and prayed for one, crying myself to sleep with loneliness.....and after 6 months in the new congregation someone reached out to me.

  chance.. i prayed to be able to stand up to my family when they put pressure on me about christmas etc...my own cult conditioning so strong.. i prayed to find a nice husband...luck when i moved congregations and one of those sisters who just has to match make introduced us.

  The most Disturbing Story in the Bible

  i posted elsewhere about dr. james tabor's take on the book of revelation as re-write of an earlier non-christian document.

  but in browsing his site i was reminded of an early biblical story in genesis that essentially throws so much jewish and subsequent christian thinking out of the window.. .

  can your mind handle the concept of yahweh standing in front of you, with a human body like yours, eating, drinking.

  i know of a lot of atheists who have come to their nonbelief by actually reading the bible rather than just the fluffy stories they choose to tell you about in church, she said.

  reading the full story with all its contradictions and violence and sexism, it should make you think, is this really what i believe in?

  Ok, let me try this; let's say that you have a cooking book with a 1,000 recipes. Their is a 10% of those recipes (100), that no matter how you prepared them, what ingredient you use or replace those 100 meals are going to kill anybody how eat it.

  Would you use that book?

  Hope that your answer is no. That's my view of the bible and your god. Maybe is has a few thinks that can be useful. But then, you read the rest. And like that cooking book, I want nothing to do with it.
