Maintaining Faith In God As An Ex-JW
by pronomono inas i fade further from the jws, i'm finding it increasingly hard to maintain faith in god.
i've been exploring many alternatives from atheism, agnostic, apathetic, pagan, and satanism (not devil worship, but the promotion of self-indulgence) to name a few.
i'm thoroughly intrigued to learn how those of you who remained christian managed to maintain your faith in god and christ, especially after enduring all the lies that we've been told about them.

"i personally believe the unchanging truth is in the bible"
I give up my friend.
Can you tell me what exactly is the "the unchanging truth is in the bible"?
We have a proverb in Spanish " no hay peor ciego que aquel que no quiere ver".
By the way, earthquakes are simply caused by the elephants that support the world on the back of a giant turtle jumping over mice that scare them.
Take care,

"i am glad of all the responses, i just think the point mr comfort is making is that sense we have been able to observe evolution for 65 million years ,you trust or have faith in that.just like it takes faith for me to believe that god created creation. i was not there to observe creation, nor the parting of the red sea, but i have faith. maybe we all just have a different view of what faith is? perpahps. i am just wanting to use the same deffintion for both sides here" -
You are wrong, dead wrong. Their is a thing called observation and another called evidence. I don't have "faith" in evolution. That's were the evidence is pointing. Please, please don't try to put evidence and observation on the same shelve you put faith, they won't mix. They are completely different concepts.

Man, I really respect you, (I don't have to respect that silly thing you believe), but I respect you as a fellow human.
Start reading and learning, you'll be surprise of all the things you can and will learn.
The banana (and most, if not all, fruits, vegetables, crops and even animals that we use for food or to improve their utility) where created by us, through artificial selection. The banana was first domesticated around 8,000-9,000 years ago.
Enclosed is a picture of a banana. The seeds aren't edible.

time to reboot jwn??? attn. tech49, formerlongtime elder, others.
by nowwhat? infirst of all let me start by saying who am i to judge, but... i understand jwn has completely evolved over the years, but what i would like to see a forum that has current members and former jw's that still live by bible principles and respect the bible, but are not afraid to call out the watchtower on their practices and revised history.
i think quality posters as mentioned above, after venting their frustrations and experiences realize this website is taken over by athiests.
and punk kids-[ see similar post.

I laugh (and pee a little) every time someone mention "bible principles".
Have you ever read the damn book."Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3)
"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live"
(Exodus 22:18)
"He that sacrifice unto any god save the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed" (Exodus 22:20)
"He who is not with me is against me." (Matthew 12:30, Luke 11:23)
"he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death,
[and] all the congregation shall certainly stone him" (Leviticus 24:16).As a lesson to those who are fat and sloppy, God struck a town of gluttons with a vicious plague which made that last drumstick taste none-too-good and wiped out every living person (Numbers 11:33-34).
As a lesson to youngsters who fail to be seen and not heard, God sent a bear to maul to death a couple dozen children who had teased a bald man (2 Kings 2:23-24).
And during one particularly bad mood, God threw the lessons out the window and killed every man, woman, child and infant on the planet (except Noah's family) with a Great Flood (Genesis 7:23).
God didn't do all the slaughtering and mangling on his own. His chosen people, the Israelites, served as his assassins on more than one occasion. God told the Israelites to kill all the men and rape the women and children in the towns they invaded (Deuteronomy 20:13-16).
God told the Israelites to take any child who dared to disobey his parents to the town square and hurl stones at his body and head until the tot's corpse was lifeless (Deuteronomy 21:18-21).
Jesus approved of his Father's command that children who curse their parents are to be put to death (Matthew 15:3-4).
Jesus chastised the Pharisees for failing to kill those children who defied their parents' commands (Mark 7:9-13).
Jesus told us we are to live our lives in fear of God for God has the power not only to kill us, but to torture us forever in Hell (Luke 12:5).
Bible principles, isn't that an oxymoron?

1 John 4:8 God is Love?
by braincleaned inin context of john 4, the love of god is manifest in that he has sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live through him.. my questions are:.
where is there any hint of love that would justify the killing of animals for sacrifice, then.
leading to a human sacrifice?.

Could it be that you are trying to see logic within something that doesn't make sense or have any logic?
Christianity:
The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.
If your holy book contains the word blood (459) more times than the words love (311), forgiveness (7) and beauty (49) combined...Your religion might be bul!sh@t.

"By being so closed minded and parading ur ignorance about the bibles historical accuracy and the existance of Jesus." - crossquestions6995
Care to explain this one?
Everyone can have an opinion, but you have to be ready to accept that it may be wrong and misguided and in need of correction. And that's not an opinion.
Unfortunately, too many people have beliefs that are rigid and not open to criticisms or challenge. People can't critically analyze and evaluate all available information, making decisions, including those involving their beliefs, based on thought, facts and reason.
No one likes to hear that the things they strongly believe are wrong, but it's a disservice to all of us if we can't be open to the idea that we are wrong, and open to learning something new or the real facts for that matter.

Hollywood "based on a true story" movie, usually means that the entire point of the story has been totally fabricated.
Here we have a few examples of based on a true story movies, but this time, a POV from "down below".
The Haunting
The Conjuring
The Devil Inside
The Haunting in Connecticut
The Amityville Horror
Take care,

Have you ever had a hallucination? What was it like?
by Nathan Natas ini have almost never had a visual hallucination and i was wondering what they're like.
how "real" do they seem?
is there any kind of a hint you get that tells you they are not real?

I suffer from fatigue hallucination. I was driving on a very familiar stretch of road without curvilinear alignment at 3:00 am. It looks like daylight for about 7 or 9 miles. Doctor said that I was sleep on that stretch and my subconscious took over.
