Let's start with a simpler question.
Do you know what evolution is?
Do you know how evolution works?
Do you why evolution works?

recent posts from those who may mistakenly consider themselves "believers" demand a safe haven in this forum.
they don't like associating with atheists or someone like me.
of course, there are hundreds of thousands of sites for christian discussion already set up on the internet.
Perhaps they have the need to fell persecution to be sure that they belong the the right religion:
Persecution
John 15:18 ESV
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
Matthew 5:44 ESV
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
2 Timothy 3:12 ESV
Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
1 Peter 3:17 ESV
For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.
1 Peter 4:12-14 ESV
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
1 Peter 3:16 ESV
Having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
1 Peter 3:14 ESV
But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
1 John 3:13 ESV
Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.
Hebrews 12:3 ESV
Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

"If you have a belief, why do you need my endorsement or freedom from comments by atheists or agnostics? I would expect that you believe your belief. What does it matter if others don't agree with you?" - BotR
First, I would like to apologize in advance for any misspellings and errors. English is my second language. -
Confirmation bias? They read something that supports what they believe, and add it to the "I'm right about this" part inside their brain. Evidence or critical thinking that contradict what they believe is dismissed.
Even if they have doubts, even if they ask questions, they make up a reason to minimize their doubts, dismissed answers or evidence and reinforce their believes.
They convince themselves that their is not enough evidence to shatter their faith. Maybe they think that those answers and evidence are part of the conspiracy from critical thinkers/agnostics/atheists or do whatever it takes to make sure the "I'm wrong about this" part inside their brain remains empty.
Even after getting some good answers to those thought questions, they don't measure or analyze the evidence or what seen logical, but the emotional/social consequences of being wrong. That why most of them ask questions, but almost non of them do some sort of research.
Maybe humans are hard-wired to remain entrenched.
Perhaps I am full of crap and is just this one.
Maybe is this verse: ◄ Mark 16:15 ►

as i fade further from the jws, i'm finding it increasingly hard to maintain faith in god.
i've been exploring many alternatives from atheism, agnostic, apathetic, pagan, and satanism (not devil worship, but the promotion of self-indulgence) to name a few.
i'm thoroughly intrigued to learn how those of you who remained christian managed to maintain your faith in god and christ, especially after enduring all the lies that we've been told about them.
"The Bible does say to beware of false prophets and not to live by fear of man." -Ding
Don't quote or bring a book that can be used to say whatever you want.
1 Kings 22:23 Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
2 Chronicles 18:22 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets.
Jeremiah 4:10 Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people.
Jeremiah 20:7 O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived.
Ezekiel 14:9 And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet.
2 Thessalonians 2:11 For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

Exactly what cofty said. On post 9454.
"i personally believe the unchanging truth is in the bible"
I give up my friend.
Can you tell me what exactly is the "the unchanging truth is in the bible"?
We have a proverb in Spanish " no hay peor ciego que aquel que no quiere ver".
By the way, earthquakes are simply caused by the elephants that support the world on the back of a giant turtle jumping over mice that scare them.

"i am glad of all the responses, i just think the point mr comfort is making is that sense we have been able to observe evolution for 65 million years ,you trust or have faith in that.just like it takes faith for me to believe that god created creation. i was not there to observe creation, nor the parting of the red sea, but i have faith. maybe we all just have a different view of what faith is? perpahps. i am just wanting to use the same deffintion for both sides here" -
You are wrong, dead wrong. Their is a thing called observation and another called evidence. I don't have "faith" in evolution. That's were the evidence is pointing. Please, please don't try to put evidence and observation on the same shelve you put faith, they won't mix. They are completely different concepts.
Man, I really respect you, (I don't have to respect that silly thing you believe), but I respect you as a fellow human.
Start reading and learning, you'll be surprise of all the things you can and will learn.
The banana (and most, if not all, fruits, vegetables, crops and even animals that we use for food or to improve their utility) where created by us, through artificial selection. The banana was first domesticated around 8,000-9,000 years ago.
Enclosed is a picture of a banana. The seeds aren't edible.
That's for Mr. Confort
first of all let me start by saying who am i to judge, but... i understand jwn has completely evolved over the years, but what i would like to see a forum that has current members and former jw's that still live by bible principles and respect the bible, but are not afraid to call out the watchtower on their practices and revised history.
i think quality posters as mentioned above, after venting their frustrations and experiences realize this website is taken over by athiests.
and punk kids-[ see similar post.
I laugh (and pee a little) every time someone mention "bible principles".
Have you ever read the damn book.
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20:3)
"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live"
(Exodus 22:18)
"He that sacrifice unto any god save the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed" (Exodus 22:20)
"He who is not with me is against me." (Matthew 12:30, Luke 11:23)
"he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, he shall surely be put to death,
[and] all the congregation shall certainly stone him" (Leviticus 24:16).
As a lesson to those who are fat and sloppy, God struck a town of gluttons with a vicious plague which made that last drumstick taste none-too-good and wiped out every living person (Numbers 11:33-34).
As a lesson to youngsters who fail to be seen and not heard, God sent a bear to maul to death a couple dozen children who had teased a bald man (2 Kings 2:23-24).
And during one particularly bad mood, God threw the lessons out the window and killed every man, woman, child and infant on the planet (except Noah's family) with a Great Flood (Genesis 7:23).
God didn't do all the slaughtering and mangling on his own. His chosen people, the Israelites, served as his assassins on more than one occasion. God told the Israelites to kill all the men and rape the women and children in the towns they invaded (Deuteronomy 20:13-16).
God told the Israelites to take any child who dared to disobey his parents to the town square and hurl stones at his body and head until the tot's corpse was lifeless (Deuteronomy 21:18-21).
Jesus approved of his Father's command that children who curse their parents are to be put to death (Matthew 15:3-4).
Jesus chastised the Pharisees for failing to kill those children who defied their parents' commands (Mark 7:9-13).
Jesus told us we are to live our lives in fear of God for God has the power not only to kill us, but to torture us forever in Hell (Luke 12:5).
Bible principles, isn't that an oxymoron?
this site is not a healthy forum for discussion or healing.
its an arena for jaded athiests to bash anything christian or god related.
yes, i know the jw's lied to us about god and the truth.
