Not cured yet, but on my way to feeling better. It helps to not only talk about my experience but also to hear from others that had similar experiences.

WHAT HAS HELPED HEALED CURED YOUR BITTERNESS WITH THE BORG?
by freewilly01 inis there or has there been anything that has aided you in your quest to rid yourself of the bitterness and resentment of the jw's .
i know for some it has appeared that they have a newfound religion or religious belief, but that is not the case with myself.. for some maybe visiting these sites encourages them to shed those miserable memories?
for me it just builds more resentment.

JWs who don't believe they have the truth. What percent?
by I quit! inevery year i think about this and i believe every year the percent goes up but it is hard to know what the number is because any doubting jw lives in fear of being found out.
they know how their lives would be permanently changed if they openly stated that they just couldn't believe it anymore.
i think there could be kingdom halls were 50% of the people attending don't believe they have the truth but think they are the only one that feels that way because every other doubter is doing the same thing they are doing.

Well, based on what I've seen, not many doubt it is the truth. Since I've been out, I've tried to find those that always seemed the most miserable while in, figuring that by now they are out. Surprise, surprise, most are still in - with no indication that they have any doubts at all! Of the few that are out, not many have actually examined doctrine to see whether or not it was the truth. Some actually still believe that it is the closest to the true religion as can be but for whatever reason have just decided it's not for them anymore.

Let's get back on topic. If you actually know someone who has gone to Bethel for reasons other than printed in the WT and Yearbooks, or have gone there yourself and want to share, please do. If you want to speculate on how many Bethelites are gay, please do so in another thread.

Now, now, guberningbody - there are plently of Bethelites who are in no way gay. Some really are under the illusion that they are in God's House - extra protection when the big A strikes.

Unloaded on the husband of my wife's study sister last night, how much damage did I do to myself??
by insearchoftruth inwell had a really good weekend away from home, but i guess i knew that the respite from the wts would end.
tuesdays are the day my wife has her personal bible study with the sister and she has also had the husband come over on tuesday afternoons so the son can have the pleasure of a bible study (which he loathes, he is a high school junior and has no interest in this stuff).
i get home from work late, after a fairly long day and the guy is still there.

I'm curious why you think youv'e done damage to yourself. Sounds like you finally asked the questions that need to be asked. I wasn't aware that your wife's mother is DFd. Why would she want to get involved in a religion that would lead to shunning her own mother? And have you talked to the mother to get an idea of what life as a JW and a DFd JW is?

Marlene- this is a whole other thing I'll never understand, how can college educated parents refused such an education for their own children? It makes no sense. It makes even less sense that he could marry someone so young...

If you find old friends on Facebook & pm them shouldn't they write back?

Yes, I think they should at least acknowlege you. I've been ignored by a few, gotten a message back from some, and was friended by a couple. With JWs/ex-JWs so much just depends on where their mind is at these days. Sadly, when they don't get back to you there isn't a way to know.

My JW parents met my wife, but would not see me...
by Confession inso it was time for the 25 year reunion of tawas area high school's class of '84.
because i was class president, i've been responsible for throwing all the reunions we've held.
while i come to michigan on business a few times per year, i don't usually make it all the way up to the little, northeast, lake huron tourist town where they live.

Oh that is just so sad! I know of more than one JW elder parent who does not follow the shunning rule with their children. I would think that at thier age, your parents would put love for you over some rule of an organization. So sorry.

My mom used to have dinner ready for me every night when when I was pioneering before I got married. When I got married I got tired of having to cook dinner every night and pioneer. So my husband and I applied to Bethel.
The circuit overseer's wife told me that going to Bethel would be a way for my husband to be able to serve Jehovah full-time and I should be supportive. I agreed to do it for one year only.
The weather (snow and rain) makes it difficult to get my time in pioneering...I knew Bethel would allow me to serve Jehovah full-time uninterrupted (sounds good but now I realize she just didn't like to get wet or cold). This same person admitted to me to praying for a change in assignment - and according to her Jehovah answered her prayer - she went from a mundane menial labor to an office job.

If They Weren't a Cult Before.....
by AllTimeJeff ini just wanted to officially change something on my viewpoint.
i have thought about this for a few days.
i used to think that while they were in some ways controlling, that jw's did not meet the criteria of a cult totally.

Thanks for getting back. Does anyone know how they can enforce the following:
All answers to the nonsense questions must come only from the paragraph and the conductor and the commentors can only use scriptures that are cited in the paragraph.
I can see the conductor doing it, but to expect the audience? How does that happen without shaming/embarrassing people?
And ATJeff, I sent you a PM
