Not sure if the way I phrased this sounds retarded or not, but I feel it's a legit thought. God creates the earth giving it "life". Gives animals and the rest of his creation the same, but never created them to "worship". We're the exception apparently.

If God is so set on devoted "worship", why didn't he create animals with abilities to do this as well?

Beard stories. Nothing but beards.
by Open mind ini've done a jwn search on beards and had some great reads.. i've learned the history of russell vs. rutherford and knorr and the hippies.. here's what i'd like to hear about.. either you or someone you know who grew a beard and the fallout because of it.. for me, i'd love to hear about the squeaky clean elder who decided to grow a beard and got removed because of it.. katie kitten, from england, on another thread told the story of her dad, the squeaky clean elder who grew a beard in the 70's and got away with it.. i don't think that would happen in california 2009.. anyway, what are your beard stories?.
i'm all ears.
(and my ears are freshly plucked.

Hey there. My family lives in Canada, and my mother went to England about 10 -15 years ago on a vacation. While she was there, she went to a meeting, and the brother who gave the talk, had a full beard. True story, and perhaps my timeline is out, but the bearded elder was not. At the time bearded brothers in Canada were not eligible for positions, therefore she took note.
If this all sounds fishy, I could get the details.

I had lunch with a friend of mine along with his family last week. His household is Christian, and he is a very firm believer in the Trinity, and we have had numerous chats about it over the months. He said a prayer over lunch as we all were seated at the table. His prayer started with "Dear God......" and closed with " In Jesus name, amen."
I took note of that indeed.

IF it is NOT wise for a man to be ALONE with a woman he's NOT married to
by Spike Tassel insola scriptura answered andersonsinfo:.
the wt leadership has hammered into all of it's elders and rank & file's heads, that it is not wise for a man to be alone with a woman he is not married too (adult or young woman... ie 14).
even in congregation sanctioned duties.. so, why, then, do so many service pairings involve just that: a brother alone in the territory (even if it's to make a call) with a sister he's not married to?.

Spike. Please forgive me if I am reading things wrong here, but from one "social reject" to another, do you feel like you have a hard time "fitting in"?
Also, your original baptism, was it as a Jehovah's Witness?

Have You Had A "Superconscious" Experience?
by metatron inaccording to some, we humans have a conscious mind, a subconscious mind and , perhaps, a superconscious mind.
it might be otherwise called the "higher self".. i read up on this subject years ago because i occasionally have experiences that suggest that some vastly more clever intelligence helps me (whenever it feels so inclined!)..
i can remember getting into trouble at work and , out of nowhere, coming up with some split second insight that saved me - so much so, that i had to ask myself, "where did that come from?".

Thanks for that info poppers. I seen a poster in a subway advertising Meditation and inquired. There was a meetup at a very nice house in downtown London. Long and short of it all, the "instructors" there, gave me the creeps! It seemed as if they werent really themselves or something. It was TM as well. The instructors, were giving info and answering questions. I know I wasn't the only one that was a little uncomfortable, as few people just walked right out.
They didn't "charge" per say, but they asked you to give a certain percentage of your income for one month. After all was said and done there, it was a ceremony that you had to go through in a weeks time. You had to bring a bottle of wine and a white table cloth. During this ceremony you would give them an envelope with your "donation", and you would be assigned a mantra. The one guy speaking was saying how a specific mantra would be assigned to you, and what made me cringe was him saying they really wanted this whole thing to "really take root" as the instructor indoctrinated you or something.
It didn't feel right, so i never attended.

I believe Meta was referring to what Wiccans call the "Threefold Law", which is basically that whatever you put out into the Universe comes back to you, times three... whether it was good or bad.
Best to stick with those intentions which are "pure of heart", shall we say. Even if one does not believe this, it is certainly good practice. It is the pagan "do unto others" but multiply it by three!
Thank you Baba.
Indeed what you say does make sense, even on an everyday level. "Do unto others..." It was the "curse" perspective that caught my eye. It kinda changes things up from an overall level of doing goodness to particular starting of an event or something. Perhaps the "Threefold Law" would be brought into effect on a more intense level or something along that line?
