If you took a look at my collection, you'll find everything from Guns-N-Roses to John Denver. Pretty varied, huh? Depends on the mood I'm in. Concrete Blond, Poison, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Queensryche, James Taylor, Johnny Horton. Lately it's been Nanci Griffith. Just picked up her CD to replace all my old cassettes. She is one great singer, songwriter.

For Migraine Sufferer's
by Guest 77 inok, for those who suffer migraine attacks, when do you get them, and what do you do for them?
prior to an injury in the school yard, (a teenager at the time) i never had a headache.
my injury had all the symptoms of a migraine.

I was diagnosed with migraines when I was 5 years old. I have suffered with them all of my life and until about 4 years ago there was nothing I could do for them. A doctor I was seeing at the time told me about a drug called Imitrex. It comes in both pill form and injectable form. The pills vary in doses between 25mg, 50 mg and 100 mg and can take about 2 hours to get rid of the headache. The injections take about 10 minutes to get rid of the headache. Hope this helps. I know how bad these headaches can be.

dinosaurs(sp?)
by datsdethspicable inwhat is the belief of jdubs about dinosaurs now?
my daughter came home the other night from her grandma(jw) saying that she wouldn't let her watch a show about dinosaurs on discovery channel because what they were showing is not true.
dinosaurs were not meat eaters.

While we're on the subject, I have a question. When I was studying, I tried to read as many of the books as possible. I seem to remember one of them covering the story of Noah's ark and it had a picture of Flood waters coming up around the Ark and right in the water there appeared to be a dinosuar's head. Does anyone remember seeing this and if you did, what book was it pictured in? I would love to come across it again for a good laugh with some new friends.

Mark of the Beast
by imallgrowedup ini had an interesting discussion with my mother regarding the mark of the beast.
she had asked me to do some research on it, and when i told her that i had finished researching it and discovered that the greek word "mark" was "an etching", she got very defensive and asked me what "mark" meant in hebrew.
i told her that it didn't matter what it meant in hebrew, because the context in which it is used in revelation is written in greek.

Just wondering.

America's Illusions of Grandeur
by pettygrudger inregardless of how complicated everyone wants to make the iraq situation, there is one point that continuously seems to be ignored or overlooked in all the debating going on....that is the fact that bush has said he will go with or without the un's support.
he has also said we're going with or without the citizen's of america's support.. wmd - you can say these words over & over again, but it remains painstakingly clear that saddam has never used these weapons against the united states - nor could he at this point.
in fact, he has only used them "defensively".he'd be lucky to get them over to isreal (look at the gulf war - how many scud's actually hit?).

One of those constitutional rights being freedom of speech? And as far as being called stupid, I'm not the one that posted one helluva run-on sentence with bad punctuation!

I'm not an avid poster here, but every once in awhile I see a topic that is worth my time. (like this one)! As a TRUE American, I have to disagree with you about this. You seem to think that this is just about getting Saddam out of power and that we are just being a bunch of bullies in the schoolyard trying to take care of it. He will not let his regime die that easily. His family will be there to take over and continue his deadly reign. It is so much more complicated than that. And as for us going through with this regardless of any help or agreement from other countries through the UN, please remind me of why we need their support. Did you know that America has been replaced on the UN Human rights commission by the Sudan, for God's Sake! This is a country that still supports slavery! As far as I'm concerned, we should severe our ties with the UN. They are not doing us any good. I do understand that you have concerns because of your son's involvement with the inevitable war. Is it okay to take cover under America's freedoms, yet not fight for them? SOMETIMES THE TREE OF FREEDOM NEEDS WATERED WITH THE BLOOD OF PATRIOTS. I too have a son. I am thankful that both he and I will grow up in a country that is far superior morally that the rest of the world and have the freedom to be so. The essential human right to freedom needs to be protected. I am sure that when we put an end to Saddam's whole regime, the people of Iraq will be dancing in the streets! And as for America trying to make the whole world a Democracy, that would be okay if WE were a Democracy. (Just for future reference, we are a Liberty Republic!)
This is not meant to be a personal attack. Please don't take it as such. I'm just getting a little annoyed at the anti-Americanism taking place in this country in defense of countries that are not anywhere near us in the human rights categories.

I don't know of anyone else on this board from my area and was hoping to get in touch with you. Who knows, I may even know you already! Are you familiar with the Labaughs, Pauls, Kings, Durkins, etc.? It's been a few years since I was at a meeting, so I do not know of anyone new at the hall. I don't even know if they are still having meetings there since it is up for sale. Please respond if you are able. I don't know what your status is in the cong.

Do they intentionally love-bomb?
by Xander ini've seen this term used a lot (love-bombing) re: new jw studies.
the implication is that this is some kind of nefarious wt strategy, but, the more i think about, the less i agree.
at least, it's not an intentional strategy, i think, just something that happens that works to their advantage (getting new recruits in).. i grew up as a jw.

I don't know if they intentionally love-bomb or not. In my case, there was certainly a lot of attention given to me when I started making appearances at the hall. I was dating this girl (who is now my wife) and she was a witness long before I met her. Anyway, she was counseled about dating me and basically told the elders to mind their own, so to speak. Well, I did get kinda interested in what she was telling me about God and the witnesses and everything and I started going to meetings with her. Everybody was super-friendly. We started getting invited to dinners, lunches, graduation parties, etc. We were definitely being love-bombed. This went on for about 6 months while I was studying. I truly thought I had made some really good friends. Then my wife's sister decided to throw us an engagement party. All of our new friends were invited and it was going to be a good time. (I must mention that I was also going through the baptism questions at this time and was 1 more meeting away from getting approval). All in all, we must have invited 50 people from the hall to the party. NOT ONE OF THEM SHOWED UP FOR THE PARTY! The reasons given by each and every person was that they did not think it would be appropriate to celebrate our engagement because I was not yet a baptized brother. This should have tipped me off right then and there about my new 'friends'. Anyway, me and my wife are both out now and have 2 wonderful kids and are happier than ever. BTW, none of our old 'friends' have even seen our children nor expressed an interest to do so. So yeah, I would say they love-bomb, CONDITIONAL LOVE-BOMB.
