Lifesaving Work
by mankkeli inknowing that we are living deep in the time of the end, we keep focused on the main work of true christianspreaching and disciple making.
(matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) like our exemplar, jesus, we want to be intensely occupied with this lifesaving work.
how can we show that this work is important to us?

If the WTS truly believe it is a life saving work then why aren't they using the latest technology to get this warning out to as many as possible.
Like the local government do in our area if there is a flood or fire event coming. They send out SMS messages to all mobile (cell) phones registered in the area, they broadcast the warning on tv and radio, they put it on Facebook etc. They certainly don't send workers out to walk the streets handing out bits of paper hoping that those who need the 'lifesaving message' will get it.

Movies that resonate with you as an ex-JW or awake JW
by RayPublisher inthe matrix - "do you want the blue pill or the red pill?
", "all i offer you is the truth", "ignorance is bliss", "the matrix is all around us".
shutter island - creepy, is it real or isn't it, it turns out the whole thing is a dream.

As well as the ones you have mentioned Ray two more that come to mind are
The Village
The Island
I watched The Truman Show as a JW a couple of times and it didn't register but when I watched it again after I left I immediately thought of the make believe, manipulated world of JWs.

I decided not to go back to the KH
by Bucholz inwell, as i mentioned before in one of my few other posts, i've been lurking here for some time now and finally decided it was time to face the facts and take action.. i was raised a jw (4th generation) and my parents were quite zealous when they got married.
mom was a regular pioneer and dad was a ms. i was the little jw 'rockstar' in my congregation, got baptized at 10, was giving talks and serving as an attendant at the hall and at conventions at such an early age.
auxiliary pioneered whenever i could.

Bucholz well done on waking up. As you say today is day one of the rest of your life so make the most of every single day of your freedom out of the JW cult.

What do you guy's think of David Icke
by Star tiger in.
i watched all of this guys youtube seminar, and although the reptilian thing was a bit mad, the whole illuminati thing appeared to worthy of a bit more scrutiny, any comments would be welcome, it seemed to be as valid as any biblical point of view!.

I think some of David Icke's stuff is way over the top (such as the reptilian thing you mentioned) however I have to give him credit for inserting the splinter in my mind that JWs is a mind controlled religion. This was quite a few years before I started fading and I had stumbled on one of Icke's books at the library and read through some of it. I had never heard the words "mind controlled" applied to JWs before and I remember when I read it I immediately asked my husband "are we mind controlled? this guy reckons we are" and of course hubby said no we're not (he was an elder then).
But those words, "JWs are mind controlled", stuck in my brain like a splinter and eventually I woke up to the fact that JWs are mind controlled.
So I am grateful to David Icke for that.

What great shots Breck. I love Oban - stayed there for a holiday many years ago. It really is a special place. Your pics make me want to go back for another visit. I just wish it wasn't 10,000 miles away from here.
Looks like you had a great trip and thanks for sharing the pics.

The Visit
by truthseeker1969 intonight i got a visit by two elders i had contacted re my status in the congregation.. .
i explained that i was disfellowhsipped in absentia and that i wondered if since i was assumed to be guilty by not being there based on mis-information and an apology for assuming i was guilty did it mean that my disfellowshipping was null and void?.
(see my post why i was disfellowshipped).

Unbelievable the way they carry on. Sounds like a visit by two zombies.

Sorry For Not Introducing Myself and Sharing My Story...Here Goes

ChainedNoLonger welcome and thank you for sharing your heartbreaking story with us. I'm glad you and your husband sorted things out and are back together and hopefully in time you will be able to reach your daughter.
I too am totally shunned by my JW sister, brother and father and their families so I know the pain and heartache that results from that.
It is truly evil the damage this JW cult does to good decent people and their families.
Again welcome and I hope you find this forum a place of healing for you and your family.

DC Sunday Drama
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inlet's call it a very ugly version of "joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat" recreated as a musicless "a young life serving god ain't worth living.".
it included a highly fictionalized account of joseph being abused by his brothers for serving god and being loved by jacob.
there was no mention of joseph's dreams that degraded his brothers and father.

I remember that during the last few district conventions I attended before we faded I would sit cringing in embarrassment during the dramas wondering what all the 'worldly' attendants would be thinking of it. And at that stage I still fully believed JWs had the truth!.

This past weekend I lost my mom
by lola28 inthe cancer finally got to her and now my sisters and i are left without our mother.
we take comfort only in knowing that she is no longer in pain.
how do people move on from such a massive loss?.
-
Hopscotch
lola so sorry to hear about your mum. I know the pain of losing a mum having lost mine to cancer 6 years ago. There are times the grief still hits me but mostly now when I think of her I remember the good times and remind myself of how grateful I am for the things my mum did for me.
I found the best thing was to allow myself to grieve, allow the tears and the sadness and the whole grieving process. Along with the grieving will in time come healing.
Thinking of you at this sad time
