  encouraging JW "nighmare" stories

  recently i was thinking back over the years, and thought about the horrible stories the watchtower published hoping that.

  the rank and file would be encouraged, or think of ways to improve their own life.. instead of a heartwarming, or upbuilding story, it was something found in the ultimate gloom story.. the worst i can remember was back in the early 1980's, my oldest son was just born, and in some magazine / book there was a story about a. sister who was being persecuted.. she also had just given birth, and the persons who were doing the persecuting had the mother locked, or tied up and had the baby lay right outside of her reach.. all she had to do was renounce her faith, and the baby would be returned to her.. i don't remember how the story ended, but that just scared the s**t out of my wife and i. no way could i put a religion above the life of my child in that situation.. but i do remember the moral of the story was for us to "build up our spirituality" because things like this will happen soon.. good grief, this was 25 years ago, and it really made a mark on me for years.

  yet i always knew that religion would be #2 in a situation like that.. and for years i felt unworthy because i did not have the correct mindset crafted by the wt society regarding this type of situation.. anyone else have a personal experience like this ?

  I remember one experience being read (can't remember if it was in magazine or yearbook or letter) about JW parents being forced to watch their child have his fingers squashed in a door to try and get them to compromise their faith. That was only one of many of these type of horror stories we had drilled into us growing up.

  The thing is those stories came back to haunt me after I had a child - always hoping he would grow up before the persecution began. I was fearful that I would give in if I had to watch him being tortured.

  Crazy stuff this when we look back on it but it is all part of the mind manipulation of the WTS members - fear and guilt.

  Tightening of the Cult Handcuffs.

  i've been saying for almost a year that the wts can only go one way, and that's to be come more hardline and more cultish by tightening their grip on the r&f.. if the recent rumours seen here (and one of them was actually banded about last year) are going to pan out, then the wts is well on it's way to become more cult-ish.. changes to the disfellowshipping arrangement.

  moving away from judicial action, leaning more towards the person disassociating themselves due to their actions, either of commission or ommission.

  or, and i think this is less likely, they have a stand-alone study edition meeting, perhaps later on a sunday?

  I too was told that I would never get to high school. Well I finished high school in 1974. I was told I would never get old enough to get married and have children in this system. Well I did. When I did have my child when I was almost 30 I was told that he would still be a young child when the new system came. Well he is now 19 and he has finished high school. He will soon be old enough to have his own children.

  So how many real generations make up this mythical generation of the WTS?

  Ending the Disfellowshipping Arrangement?

  i was reading this on the forum for bible students where there seems to be some elder training that will focus on conscience issues and disassociaiton instead of disfellowshipping.

  this makes sense from a legal standpoint because there would be no jc but interesting enough, how would someone become disassociated and then shunned?

  if shunned would this then place the legality of it all back onto the family members instead of the elders?

  I thought the same as JWdaughter - it's their way of closing the 'fading loophole' that allows JWs to get out without the df and da process and in many cases (not all) still keep their relationship with their JW family.

  Now by the looks of it all faders will be classed as da'd meaning their family will officially no longer be able to associate or communicate with them except for 'family business'.

  Desperate measures to try and stop the flow of 'apostate' information.

  They are getting more and more cult like by the day

  The WTS and Frequent Liar Points

  i have read on here of the frequent flyer points racked up by bethelites etc on wts business and it made me think of this.. .

  frequent liar points.

  the wts has told so many lies to its members, the public and the media that if there were points accumulated for frequent lies then surely they would have a huge tally of them.. .

  This one was in the km 2/02 (2008 WT lib CD). I remember hearing it said numerous times every year:

  " 'Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah'!(P144:15) Those words describe Jehovah's Witnesses as the happiest people on earth."

  friday the 13th, walking under ladders and spilled salt were for the blind and the ignorant.

  we had been set free and knew better.. to be sure, some j.w.s had their own special theocratic superstitions.

  no doorbells either...local community group i joined recently had it planned....very social coffee beforehand....good excerise...and made four friends......plus the road looks a lot better......... kinda pathetic this is my first ever real volunteer work that counts............but it is a start.........oompa.
