Book study comment on DF'ing tonight SUCKED!!!

so i went to the meeting tonight with my mom, cuz she's visiting.

i know i know, that's my first mistake.. so, they're going over this part on disfellowshipping, and they start going on and on about how it's jehovah's love for the congregation that "he disfellowships.".

yeah so its not the organization that disfellowships, its jehovah.

During the Service Meeting section last night, they had a part on youths. The speaker goes on about how young ones need to really search out the truth and prove it to themselves. He said they should do diligent research and make sure they truly believe what they are learning.

So I, of course, am floored. Is the organization finally teaching this? Could they really want smart people in the Society doing their own research?

Well, unfortunately, he kept talking.

He went onto explain... "That's why the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" have provided us with so many research tools like the CD-ROM, NWT and all the others, so you can truly get a good understanding for yourself."

Yep! That'll do. Get going on the research kids. Another outstanding job on getting to the meat of things.

Back a few years ago, when I talked to the Elders once about my husband and his beliefs, I had told them that the Pastor, at the Born Again christian group he was attending, was very much against our teachings and had some bad things to say about us. The elders went on to say that, "other religions get really ticked off if you do any outside research, because they know they're wrong about what they are teaching."

Funny how IRONIC that conversation is to me now.

Hey, whats wrong with Smurfs???

i was baptized in early 90s and live in eastern europe.. from your comments i noticed, that some time in the past jws had a problem with smurfs... like being afraid of or avoiding ... i never heard anything about that in my dub life... .

so is there some story behind that?

did you play with smurfs as kids?

Yeah, this was very much the case when I was growing up. It was in the eighties and let me tell you, everyone I knew in California was talking about it. I would speak to people that would say they were at the Hall where the Smurf was cruising down the aisle. I was not allowed to watch the cartoon because people would comment at the meeting about shows that were bad and would mention the Smurfs. So I was unable to watch the incredible Smurfs. I got totally screwed!

So, they're going over this part on disfellowshipping, and they start going on and on about how it's Jehovah's love for the congregation that "HE DISFELLOWSHIPS."

Yeah so its not the organization that disfellowships, its Jehovah. Right.

Then this lady answers with, "The reason why we wouldn't associate with a DF'd person is much like if we had a child doing drugs, smoking and having sex in our house, we wouldn't want our other children playing with them."

WHAT!!!

I guess if your little johnny asked you why you were letting dad have sex with the kids in the family, and you said because no one else see's him do it and you're gonna need more than just each kid saying that dad is having sex with them for you to believe it. So, of course little johnny says that you sound screwed up or at least you're an enabler to a pedophile. That's it! You're not allowed to talk to the other kids cuz you're a slanderer and devisive. You know johnny, you're as bad as a drug using, smoking, sexoholic. Get out!!!

Sometimes I do get really sick at the meetings.

i recently met a woman here at work (a contractor) and discovered she is an ex-jw.

eventually we got around to telling why each of us left the religion.

she said the main reason for her was not doctrines, but because she was tired of the physical and emotional abuse she received.

Okay, so I used to be spanked as well by my Father. My Mom would bust out the wooden spoon once and awhile, but for the most part it was my Pops.

I would sometimes receive bare bottom spankings, but my dad was pretty legit about it. You see it was after they caught me placing magazines (which sometimes were the watchtower mags ha ha ha) in my pants. I never felt there was anything weird going on because I knew my parents loved me first and foremost. Believe me I did some stuff that deserved a good spanking, I was never spanked for anything I did at the meetings, unless it was connected with me pulling another girls hair or something like that. However, some people, regardless of religion, are just straight wackos. Their parents possibly were wackos as well and normally it trickles down to the kids and so on.

The story that Rebel tells goes beyond anything that I know the JW's to ever be okay with. Her parents sound like they drive the twisted roads and I personally don't know anybody to have ever had that kind of treatment. Granted, I am from California, and people are a lot different here than from the south. Ya know.

How many TIMES can a JW be DF'd before the ELDERS dismiss them PERMANENTLY?

i know a "sister" who has been df'd 10 times for adultery within a period of 15 years..... she is married....her hubby was an elder until she got df'd for the 1st time...he was then deleted....apparently the sister was not happy in the bedroom, he was always away doing cong duties, including jcs....... she keeps getting reinstated, and usually it does'nt take long for her (not the usual 6 months).....apparently she is a very good actress (she cries like a baby in the jcs )..... how many times can she keep getting df'd and reinstated like this until the elders say it is enough?.

I have never heard of ten times, but yeah, they'll bring ya back as many times as you can go back there and act your butt off. Someone I know has been Df'd 4 times, twice married and twice cheated on them. The last time I thought he would never get reinstated cuz he was doin one of the family friends in jacuzzi, who was 16 years old and his wife caught them. He just got reinstated for the fourth time and is married to this young 18 year old non witness girl. I say good luck to her. Now, I don't believe in judging people, but I would venture to say, he will probably never change. Just guessing.

First off everybody, I'm no prophet.

As for SOUTHCENTRAL, I never said I thought the end would come in 2012.

And LAVENDER, do you plan on following the ANTI CHRIST? Why would it bother you if Obama is ruining the economy? Just wondering?

Oh yeah, is it me, or does JIMMYPAGE seem a bit douchey at times.

Again, sometimes I get bored and think, I know that sounds strange but why not? I'm not DF'n any of you for disagreeing with me.

JimmyPage will be the first to say that this place is a place to come and say what you want and not be judged for it. Well, at least I'm not perverted like a some of the people I have come across in here. I just had a thought, felt like sharing.

When you look at the world scene and truly think hard about it, Revelations speaks of the people looking to one man. It tells of the “MARK” that they would receive.

Our economy is in such a way that it could be reasonable that we would go to one currency. In fact they are already talking of such a currency and would it not make sense that it would be in the form of an implant or bar code of some sort. Mark of the Beast?

Also, at the G20 today, all the world nations looked to Obama for answers as what would be the answer to get out of their dire situation. I feel very strongly as well about the Mayan calendar, I don’t think the date 2012 has little to no meaning. Obama’s presidency term ends in 2012 and wouldn’t it make sense that things would start to occur then. When you look at the Mayan history they were peaceful and very intelligent. Then, one day, they all started to turn on each other and practice things they hadn’t in the past, killing each other, until finally, they were completely off the face of the earth. When God confused the languages at Babel, he said they were able to reach the heavens and there was nothing under the sun they couldn’t accomplish. The Mayans were clearly from that area and their ability to design global positioning, their incredible astronomy calculations and dating systems puts them as the best of all time in history. Scientists have said even their Atomic clocks of today are only seconds off the Mayan dates and times. Would it not be logical that God would put an end to them in an instant. So, I don’t believe that 2012 will be the end, but could it be the beginning of the END? Could the world introduce the “MARK” needed to get goods in the world by that time? I don’t just think its possible, I think it’s probable and once the Mayans got that date figured out as a turning point in time, that was the end for them.

Just a thought.

So I married my sweetheart who’s a Born Again Trinity Christian and I’m an ex-JW. Once and awhile he will ask me to go with him to his church and spend time with him there. So, one day I went and I about fell over at how funny they are and get about their Christian music. These people on stage are rocking out like they’re huge rock stars and then will all just break into some weird prayer to Jesus out of the blue. He always tells me how great they all are and how important they are in bringing people to God. Him and his friends have like every album that cost 15 or 20 bucks and go to a lot of the Christian rock band concerts, and I ask him what part of the Money that they make goes to God. He tells me that they are workers for Gods glory and deserve a good living.

I’m in the wrong business then, cuz these guys charge around 40 bucks a ticket and had about 5000 people in the audience. But somewhere deep down I feel it’s wrong to profit on people’s faith. Ya know.

Anyway, He’s an incredible husband to me, and if he’s happy to each their own. We have great bible discussions together and he never judges me on my opinions, he may disagree with me at times, but never thinks I’m a bad person for questioning things that I have read.

He gets a kick out of how I think there is more life on other systems and how God very well could have other friends that are Gods that have their own projects. Like, how this planet is just one of the projects going right now and he put his creation Jesus in charge of this while he is attending to other things he’s got going on. I mean, can’t a business owner hire a CEO and a board to run his company, and then own other companies that are similar? These are the things I always throw at him, so I guess I can deal with his beliefs.

i was a witness for over 25 years and have been out of the organization for over 3 years now.

yet, i have a hard time seeing anyone else's way as the right way to go.

I could care less about the predictions. I guess what I was speaking of was, how Jesus always spoke of his Father as greater. The topics of what happens when we die, the prospect of living on earth forever, not being involved with the worlds governments and wars, preaching the word, loving your neighbor (which I believe the JW's should do better), the blood issue (even though some say they allow more procedures than before), and all this kinda stuff. That's all

When I look around at all people, one of the areas that the JW's should pay more attention too, I find that when you run the precentages, people are people. You have liers, steelers, cheaters, gays, molesters, good, bad, drunks, drug addicts, dumb and smart. No matter where you are, what you believe, people are people. Its not the world verses the Witnesses. It's, people verses people. God help Us!

I was a witness for over 25 years and have been out of the organization for over 3 years now. Yet, I have a hard time seeing anyone else's way as the right way to go. Obviously, do unto others as you want done to you, works in almost any way of life that you lead, but when it comes to actual teachings, besides their d'fn practice, I mean does anyone here see actual truth out there. When it comes to someone being disfellowshipped, in some ways you totally understand when someone has to be delt with, I mean there are some creeps out there. However, I'm right there with a lot of you when it comes to a youngster that is dealing with his or her puberty issues and adolescents, and then makes a bad decision. Only to find himself in front of strangers (a committee) expaining things he has yet to even grasp or understand, a time when he needs his mother, father, brothers, sisters and friends, but instead finds himself alone and ex-communicated. It's totally screwed up, believe me I know, but when it's all said and done, I find that no one else has any answers and this world is in a world of hurt.
