Do Witness think they are fooling Jehovah when women teach at the meetings?

the witnesses claim to follow the bible and believe women are not to teach in the congregation.

when they give women parts on the meeting they try to get around this by having them pretend that they are just talking to each other and the audience is just overhearing a conversation between them when in fact they are teaching.

do they thing they are pulling one over on jehovah?

I remember one meeting where a sister called of for a presentation and a young, twenty something elder filled in the spot at the last meeting. His partner was a woman old enough to be his mother wearing a small but noticeable veil on her head (1 Corinthians 11:3-16).

I also had a friend of mine who was a sister who used to conduct a Bible Study during recess in the High School we attended. One day when I stepped into the room where she was conducting the study she mentioned that she needed a head covering. She pulled a sweater over her head!

Those were the good old days.

so what do you guys think the next major lie will be?

or should i say wt light getting brighter teaching?

they had to change 1874 to 1914 since it didn't have anything to be backed by but 1914 they at least based it on 537bc minus this plus that blah blah blah we got 1914 (hide the pyramid measurments) :) if 1914 comes and goes they will have to do something major!

I do not believe they will switch their interpretation of the 144,000 from literal to symbolic-that could cause a real mess. I believe that they will instead emphasize a very small remnant of hundreds of "anointed" and make them identical with the governing body. In other words the GB are the anointed.

As for the 7 trumpet blasts they will simply find other events scattered throughout the last century of their history to "represent" the trumpeteering. They used to, if I recall correctly, have a slightly different interpretation of the exact nations that were represented by the 7 headed beast of Revelation in their old literature.

Whatever happens let us rest assured that, while the details change, the basics are the same. And those basics are a narcissistic egocentricity on the part of the GB and their projection of it into the Bible.

Their interpretation of the Bible is like that song that goes "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you"

It's possible that they will do the following: Take Genesis 6:3 where God says that mankinds days will be limited to 120 years (before the flood). Make a "type antitype" analogy to the current situation and then tack on those 120 years to 1914. That will give them till 2034.

though i've never been an elder (thank god), i was raised by one and know several.

it has been my observation that there is a tremendous amount of politics on bodies of elders.

this is probably not a news flash to most of you.. there is a saying that "academic politics are so bitter because the stakes are so low.

Is the Watchtower Lying Again About Kindness?

we've been down this road before: the watchtower makes some pious comment about helping others and then, having covered its collective a$$, goes right back to the same, fake, cultish ministry.

(in regard to today's wt study).. like the pharisees, they say but do not perform.

however, i did notice that today's study article referred to "numerous" witnesses being known for being kind ( as opposed to the usual bilge about how they all are so loving).

What Would Jesus Say to You and the Governing Body?

would you be a jehovah's witness if you just read the bible by itself?

for that matter, without the aid of any religious influence, would one be apart of any religious group or body because of a specific mandate within the bible?

i realize this is at least a tricky and controversial question, best answered by the individual doing the reading of the bible.

That is what Jesus would say to the Governing Body.

i have my jw bible but also have the good news bible that was used at the lutheran church i went to for about 8 yrs back in the 80's.. one (jw)is hard to read and understand some of the books and the (good news)other is to easy and leaves somethings out, well the jw one does to.. .
