I remember a brother pulling off an elder to the side to tell him that his son had been found in the ladies restroom. He had been found laying on top of a girl on the restroom floor. The son was about ten years old and the girl about five.

Were there any "dynasties" in your congregation?
by truthseeker indid your congregation have any so-called dynasties, or "a succession of rulers who belong to the same family for generations"?.
my last congregation had a family who had or seemed to have complete control over most aspects of congregation operations.
they like to run the show and make it obvious that they are in charge.. then there are those who receive unearned privileges because their father is an elder who fast tracked his son to eldership.. .

Question about "marking" in the congregation
by Olin Moyles Ghost incan one of the resident scholars settle a disagreement about the current jw practice of "marking"?.
my understanding is that marking works this way: suppose annie is a jw who persists in an activity that is strongly frowned upon by the society--but is not a df-ing offense (for example, she is dating a non-witness), then annie gets counseled by the elders.
if annie continues to date the unbeliever, then the elders may decide to "mark" her.

I recall, about thirty years ago, that there was a punishment called "Public Reproof". I recall the announcement made against a married couple who were mentioned by name like when they disfellowship you.
That couple was actually at the meeting when the announcement was made. I'll never forget the look of fear mixed with shame as they huddled together in their seats.
I guess they've gone through some changes in terminology and actions.

Ziddina, your description of "psychopaths" are actually psychotics with or without a homicidal tendency. Your description of "sociopaths" fits actual psychopaths according to psychiatrist. I am not an expert but I understand that these terms have been used loosely in the past leading to some confusion.
