Watchtower Amnesty Day -- What If It Really Happened?
by CrimsonBleu inhave you ever considered what effect one day of amnesty would have on the members of the watchtower society?.
ponder this for a few moments: watchtower society makes a worldwide announcement through all of its publications, assemblies and meetings that on a set date, all jehovah's witnesses, baptized or not, we're being offered the liberty to disassociate themselves from the organization -- no strings attached.
during this day, letters are written and handed in or mailed stating that whoever was writing it was officially bowing out of the watchtower society and its doctrinal teachings.

Crimsonbleu, welcome to the board.
Unfortunately, during Rutherford's tyranny, the JWs suffered a massive loss in membership(about 75%) and still kept going regardless. Once you reach a critical number of members it is almost impossible to destroy an organization unless very powerful historical forces are involved (Example; The destruction/absorbtion of "pagan" religions by Christianity).

Picked up a s**t load of Watchtowers at the laundry mat today
by frankiespeakin ini went to wash some sleeping bags today at the laundry mat and as soon as i got done loading the machine i rounded up all the watchtower rags took them home and disposed of them properly.. hey i figure if the wt is going through hard financial times i would do my part and make sure they get a minimum of returns on their scattered seeds of propaganda, hopefully they came from a local congregation that ain't paying enough for their literature with the society..

An uncaring Jesus?
by PSacramento ina friend of mine and i were discussing chritianity the other day and he mentioned that, at times, jesus seemd rather cruel and outside the proper tradions of the jewish people.. how so i asked?.
ex:matthew 8:21-22, where a man wants to follow jesus and askes to be allowed to bury his dead father and jesus replies for him to let the dead bury the dead.. there is also the case of matthew 15:21-28 with the cannanite woman who's daughter was possed and jesus said that he was their for the jews and that it would not be right to take the childrens bread and toss it to the dogs.. both passages are rather, well...cruel.. but.. in my view, and this is mine, they seemed to be "tests" that jesus was doing, in regards to the cannanite woman, her answer to the crule comparision was simply that even dog's eat the crumbs off their masters table and jesus' reply was that she had great faith and that her daughter was healed.. it seemed to me as a test of how much we are willing to give of ourselves ( in this case pride) for the betterment of our loved ones, she was more than willing to be humble and as such, her duaghter was saved.. in regards to the man who wanted to bury his father, something that was crucial in jewish law (honour they father) it seemed to me as being another test, i would think that if the man has said yes right away that jesus probably would have said, " go and bury your father, i will be here for you", the man's faith haveing been demonstrated to be true and willing.. .
thoughts?.

Also, Matthew 18:15-17 where Jesus lays out the rules for shunning. If a person refuses to listen to counsel he should be treated like a tax collector or a gentile(non-Jew).

Does the two witness rule apply if an elders' wife is raped by a brother? I have a feeling that it will not.

A picture is worth a thousand words, unfortunately I can't scan that classic picture and explicit language from the book From Paradise Lost toParadise Regained pages 207 through 210. Here though are some child comforting words to spice things up:
Page 207 paragraph 24: "With shocking surprise Armageddon will catch all those persons outside the New World Society...(par 25)Soul chilling terror will spread through the masses of people so they will lose control of themselves; they will begin killing one another. (page 210 par 30) Who will live through Armageddon? Only those who obey the Bible command to seek Jehovah.
All you have to do to make the best impression is to open the book to the pictures in pages 208,209 and start reading.

Did You Feel The Love As A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus inother than feeling "love bombed" when you first started associating with the "brotherhood", did you experience the "love" in your years within the organization?.
if you felt truly loved, was it in reality, a "conditional love"?.

There was a sprinkling of love here and there.

Dear Dairy
by compound complex indear dairy,.
i really miss you.. it's not that i'm lactose intolerant.
i love milk and cheese and yogurt, but i think my longtime overindulgence in your creamy, delectable offerings has made me whey too full of congestion and has added to my already ungainly avoirdupois.

Puppeting the Message
by Hope4Others inquite a few years back i had various pioneer friends who were asked to give experiences at the circuit conventions.. they were to write up there experience first give it to the elder and they would go over it.. however, when it came time for this the elder who was giving the part decided to change their experience and it did not.
and was not even truthful now, it was not how it happened.
my one friend in particular was very upset about this because.

I was at a talk by an exJW which was being held at a secular humanist/atheist meeting(Prometheus Books). When the talk ended a spokesman of the place holding a letter from the WBTS got up on stage and related the following story.
They had previously hosted a series of Evolution centred talks. Unknown to them there was a member of the Society listening in the audience. Some time later they received the letter thanking them for proving the Bible's stand on Creation. The letter indicated that the Watchtower would do a report on those talks as if they were in support of Creationism.
This brazen falsification made me realize, long after I thought I had heard and seen the worse of the JWs, that they don't merely twist and distort things but they also make things up out of thin air.
